Chapter 1 - Prologue

The sun was blazing bright blinding his eyes. Leaves dancing on the branches as the wind blew harshly. The raining of cherry blossom filled the area, spluttered on the ground, making a mess. But Kousei enjoyed their company.

It was a fresh new start, another day without a certain someone. Another day without the beautiful melody. Since Kaori's death, Kousei had been moving forward. He doesn't cry anymore. He would play the piano everyday, not skipping practices with a new song. He determined, it was the only thing he could do to remember his love.

But in his heart, Kousei would sometime hesitating. He feels like going back, to the day where he could see her smile, her beautiful laughter, even her angry face that he loves. Even if it was not possible, he wished to meet her again.

Kousei walked with a bag of plastic in his left hand and an ice cream in his right. Looking forward, he sweatdropped at the brunette's argument. They were arguing whether it would be good to go to the beach or a science museum for the weekend. Well, rather than arguing, it was Tsubaki who forced Ryota to choose.

Kousei became the victim, he needed to follow the two. He was running some errands for his sensei but then got a call from his friends. All he did was sighing the whole time, carrying a heavy plastic bag.

As they kept walking, Kousei stole a glance of the familiar hospital at his right. He came to a halt and stared at it. Maybe even a little, he'd started to hate it; the place where the ones he loves died. "Kousei?"

Kousei turned towards his friends who looked up to him, who were supporting him from the very beginning. He smiled. "Sorry!" He said as he trying to catch up with them.

"Mou Kousei! You're wasting our time!" Tsubaki pouted. It was the only way to distract Kousei. She knew that Kousei was remembering his past again. She then sighed, keeping a frown on her face. "Me and Watari are here for you, Kousei."

A smile crept on the ravenette's face, he always knew that they were just worried. "Arigatou. Watari, Tsubaki."

"Baka!"

"Lets go." Ryota grinned.

Eventhough he had them, he would always feel a little bit lonely. Without her jumping in his life anymore, it was a little hard to take in.

"Arima-sensei!" The blond little girl called, a little pissed off. Kousei snapped out from his trance, he turned to look at the little Aiza. "What are you dozing off for? You need to focus on teaching me!" Exclaimed the girl with arms flailing in the air.

"Hai hai." He said and started to play the piano. Nagi furrowed her eyebrows, she pouted when she had to listen to a different melody but she kept quiet. Kousei had been a bit weird lately. He would stare into the distance, dozing off. Playing the piano recklessly, he sometimes pounded it hard. Even now he wasn't focusing.

'Miyazono Kaori.' Was what Nagi had in mind. Nagi grunted, making the song half-ended. "What is it?" Kousei asked with a hint of curiosity. Nagi stood up and scoffed. "So cliche." She blurted out earning a confused look from her sensei.

"Arima-sensei, you were thinking about the girl again. Am i right?"

Kousei paused, thinking for a little while. Before he could answer, Nagi pinched his cheek. Kousei let out a wince of pain when she let go. "Don't deny it." She said blushing. It was as though she was reading his mind. Kousei gave up, he really did think of Kaori. "Tell me, what were you thinking?"

Looking up, Kousei smiled. "Thinking back, i never get to tell Miyazono-san how i felt about her." How idiot of him. It was even too late for that. He felt like it was okay to tell Nagi what he was currently having in his mind. While on the other hand, Nagi was a little bit jealous. Even so she just kept quiet and blushed. How she envied the girl and how she admired her teacher.

Love. It has always been love. Love from his audience, love from his friends, love from his teacher, love from his mother, and loving Kaori himself. It'd been his supports for the very beginning. It was a strong pillar to everything. As long as you love something, as long as you love someone. You can move forward. You would do your best to the very extent you would even hurt yourself.

He too just realized that himself. As long as there are people around him, supporting him he thinks he can move on. But why Kaori entered his mind at such crucial times? Like how she did when everytime he plays the piano. "It's because you still love her." Hiroko stated with worried in her eyes.

" H-how can you be so sure Hiroko-san?"

"Kousei i've known you for so long. You're so dense."

".. Is it bad to still think about her?"

".. No it's not. But Kousei, i thought you've moved forward?"

"That was what i think. Until recently, I felt like i wanted to go back, to where she was still smiling." He said with a sad smile, thinking it was still impossible to dream about meeting her. He looked outside the window. It was spring, but spring without her is lonely. "I wished to return back. If only i could see her again."

"You need to rest." Said Hiroko giving a pat on her son's shoulder. Eventhough Kousei wasn't her biological child, Hiroko had been treating like one. She was a guardian and also somewhat like a mother to Kousei.

Kousei plopped on his bed, his arm was covering the eyes. 'What am i doing? Clinging on the past again.' He thought as he slowly getting tired. His eyes fluttered closing as he slowly drifting off to sleep. He was oblivious to what will happen to him on the next day, the day where it will start all over again. The day where he'll met Miyazono Kaori at the park.
