After a run off several tests, the doctor let off a breath.
"Mr. Alex indeed suffered from a serious heart attack. It is a miracle that he survived, but his heart has become extremely weak." He said seriously, while looking at certain scans.
When Alex's mother heard that she teared up. Her son could've died without her even knowing!
"Doctor, isn't there anything that could be done?" Alex's dad asked with some desperation in his voice. Alex sighed as he inwardly grumbled. This transmigration was simply to pit him!
The Doctor shook his head. "My knowledge is too limited on this kind of illness. There is no known scientific treatment that could help him, short of a heart transplant, which is extremely dangerous in itself. As for abilities, none in the data base seem likely to help." However he paused before answering. "However there may be a way within the secrets of the aristocracy or other organizations. Today, as it happens, a divine healer is set to visit our hospital - it is possible he might know a way."
Hearing that, Alex's parents were somewhat hopeful. The doctor adjusted some of the heart monitors before continuing. "I have given Mr. Alex a dose of heart stabilizers, which will temporarily help his heart."
"Doctor, can the divine healer consult for our son?" Alex's mom asked with some hope. The Doctor nodded. "I will ask the Dean to make a request in the matter.: He replied.
Alex spent his time identifying his family. His sister, Lily, he realized was actually an Uncommon grade 1 warrior. She was two years younger than him and Alex understood that his sister was actually quite talented. Her skills were also mostly concentrated in the wind element.
Alex wasn't surprised by that. His parents who were uncommon grade warriors as well also had mostly wind element skills and the reason was probably that the only monster field in their district was filled with wind element monsters and the shops in the district mostly sold Wind element skill pearls.
When monsters were hunted and killed, a few would drop pearls. These pearls would contain either energy, skills or in the rare occasion talent attributes. Absorbing these monster pearls would transfer the contents into a person and allow them to use the skill.
An hour of waiting later, Alex and his family heard a group of people entering his hospitalization room. It was the doctor from.earlier along with there other people. Two seemed to be senior figures from.the hospital, while the third, Alex guessed was the Divine Healer.
This old man with a long white beard reminded Alex of wizards with broad white beards and an old caring look, that coupled with the white glowing robe he wore gave him the appearance of an expert.
Before the doctor could explain Alex's case to the divine healer, he had already walked over to Alex, who was lying down on the hospital bed and checked his pulse. Then his eyes suddenly glowed white as if he had a cataract and a gentle healing energy entered Alex's body.
Alex subconsciously tried to Inspect the old man's stats.
[Withered Gladstone]
[Grade - ?? (Access too Low)]
[Abilities - ?? (Access too Low)]
[Remarks - ??]
Alex was dumbfounded. This was barely the fourth person he had inspected and his system had already failed him! Other than the old man's name, which was peculiar in itself, Alex found no information at all. But he was sure of one thing, for the system to fail, this person was no ordinary one!
The old man's glowing eyes soon stopped and the gentle energy that had entered Alex's body also retreated. Alex noticed no visible changes at all.
The old man eventually nodded. The other doctors were all observing the old man with their notepads, waiting to write down whatever guidance he had to offer on the matter.
"This child you said has a rare heart disease?" The old man glanced at the doctors and then shook his head. He turned towards Alex and spoke again. "Boy, you don't have a heart disease. However, I am not surprised that the doctors seemed to have thought so."
Alex's eyes glowed, but then quickly dimmed. This old man said he didn't suffer from heart disease? Why did his inspection system say otherwise then? He clearly remembered that his status described him having congenital heart disease. Alex began to doubt whether this was was a charlatan or his system was actually unreliable?
The old man also saw the doubt in Alex's eyes and smiled. "Boy, you don't have a disease, but rather you have a special physique called Congenital Weakness Physique."
Alex snorted inwardly. Congenital Weakness Physique? Isn't it just rephrasing that he has an illness as some kind of martial physique? This old man was just a scammer.
The old man saw the skeptical look on Alex's face and laughed. "Haha, boy, you are indeed right to be skeptical. After all, this name is indeed quite underwhelming. However, it being a special physique means both good news and bad news for you."
After a momentary pause to build up anticipation from Alex and co, the old man spoke again. "The good news is you can get rid of your weak heart condition, the bad news is you can never improve beyond ordinary grade."
Alex's mom immediately spoke up. "Divine healer, we don't care about his warrior potential, as long as our son can live a healthy life we would be satisfied. I urge the master to tell us how to solve our son's problem."
Meanwhile, Alex's eyes turned into slits. Why was this setting too familiar? Could it be that this was the beginning of his path to greatness, discovering a new martial path using a cursed physique?
The old.man saw Alex's excitement and snorted. He immediately knew that this brat was probably day dreaming about some fantastical scenario. However, he decisively ignored his floating and replied calmly. "Not to worry. Your son can practice the Craziness Immortal which is available on the streets for trinkets. With that the boy's heart disease can be solved."
When Alex's father heard that he was startled, and then dumbfounded. He wasn't the only one. Everyone in the room other than Alex was dumbfounded, and then looked at Alex with pity. Alex was confused. From his memories, he felt like he had heard this name before, but the context was hazy to him.
Alex's father suddenly deflated like a punctured balloon. "Is it... that Crazy Immortal Mantra..?" He asked hoping against hope that it wasn't the case.
The old man nodded. "It is indeed that very one. Your son's condition isn't an unknown one. There are a few others who have had this issue and have ended up healed by practicing this cultivation technique."
After saying that, the old man and the doctors left the scene. Alex's sister was confused as well, but observing the awkward atmosphere, she decided to ask her parents.
"Mom, Dad, isn't it good that brother can get healed? Why are you so awkward?" She asked and Alex nodded as well.
Alex's dad shook his head. "It is indeed good news if it is true. However, this cultivation technique is very infamous. This cultivation technique had become popular around a hundred years ago when it was freely being sold everywhere and lots of people began practicing it. Unfortunately, in the end, everyone quickly abandoned the practice and the person who popularized this technique was beaten to death!"
Alex's eyes suddenly bulged as he suddenly remembered the truth about the cultivation art. He yelled in fury. "That old white bearded bast*rd truly pit me! Isn't this the trash cultivation technique that only cultivates till ordinary grade 9 by condensing bad luck?" He roared in anger.
Alex's mother's shoulder sagged as she nodded. "It is indeed that trash cultivation art. It quickly raises one's cultivation by condensing bad luck Not only it can only be practiced only till ordinary grade 9, those who practice it are perpetually haunted by bad luck and doom."
