Chapter 3 - Crazy Immortal Sutra

Alex dumbly returned home and lay on the bed in his room as he read through the text of the Crazy Immortal Sutra. He had bought it on the network for a pithy 100 star coins.

The reviews on the site underneath the text were particularly scary.

"After practicing this Technique, my wife and children left me. I want to curse the creator of this trash art!"

"I used to work as a family counselor. After practicing this sutra, all my clients ended up divorcing and now I am out of a job!"

"I slip on banana peels every day!"

"My little brother stopped working! 0/5 stars!"

The last one scared Alex and a chill ran through his spine. This cultivation art was truly terrifying. Luck was one of the most mysterious forces in the world, and as a cultivation art that relied on aggregating bad luck to advance, it was truly a most bizarre art. Yet, this Crazy Immortal Sutra was such a black hearted doom bringer, that it was absolutely stupid to practice it.

However, Alex's situation was truly bizarre. According to the old man, cultivating this technique was the only way to cure his illness, or another heart attack would surely kill himself. Alex could only unwillingly swallow his dreams of reaching the peak and cultivate this blasphemous art.

After reading the text of the Crazy Immortal Sutra, Alex sat down in a lotus position. The text of the technique was quite simple to understand and only one page long, and Alex could see why it had such a wild appeal in its initial heyday, when's its cursed attribute of bad luck attraction wasn't known.

Having read the sutra, Alex closed his eyes, and began meditating. According to the process described in the text, he began to will the small wisp of energy around his body to rise above his head and slowly rotate. Gradually, a small typhoon like funnel of energy began to form just Above Alex's head, rotating at variable speeds, but with a definite pattern.

Suddenly, Alex began to feel a chill along his spine as if he was being cursed at as he felt some kind of intangible matter collect into the funnel and drive into his body through his head. Alex immediately felt like he was being covered by some gloomy force, and developed a bitter smile on his face. He immediately realized that this was bad luck that was condensing over his body and penetrating every living cell.

However, Alex soon began to see a benefit as he felt that the perpetual weakness he felt in his body slowly drift away and his weak and arrhythmic heart beat began to stabilize and become periodic. Alex was internally shocked to realize that the old man's words actually turned out to be true! Crazy Immortal Sutra actually seemed to have an effect on Alex's body!

Alex could sense than the bad luck collecting on his body like a dark miasma was getting more and more dense as the cells were getting more and more energized and his heart becoming stronger in a visible period of time.

"This cultivation art is truly mysterious and the rapid strength growth is almost unbelieveable. It is no wonder that it caused a wild rush in its initial days. But the pay off... is too much! Exchanging luck for cultivation is undoubtedly a terrible trade!" Alex mumbled to himself. Unfortunately for himself, it was the only trade he could make.

After a few hours, the energy vortex forming over Alex's body gradually dissipated and the continuous aggregation of bad luck stopped. Alex let out an odious breath filled with illness. He already felt healthier.

Walking towards the mirror, Alex looked at his chubby self and used the Inspection System to analyze himself.

[Cultivation System - Crazy Immortal Sutra]

[Abilities - Inspection System, Transmigrator]

There were already changes. He had a new cultivation art section, which rightly showed that he had practiced the devil's own cursed art, while at the same time he noticed the more important fact. The Congenital Heart Disease had truly disappeared!

Alex nodded to himself, smiling. He had already taken his first step towards the peak! However, he soon began to worry about the consequences of the Crazy Immortal Sutra's bad luck attractor effect.

After a minute, he shrugged. He decided to first work on reducing his weight and becoming slimmer. As a fitness freak in his past life, Alex hated the chubby look of his new body and began exercising in ernest, only to discover that his body was indeed extremely healthy and felt no abnormal fluctuations within heart.

The day passed, and along with that, Alex had to return to school. He was in final year of high school and at this moment everyone among his peers were working hard to become stronger. Why? It was obviously to enter Warrior Universities.

In this new era, strength was a key to success and martial artists were in constant high demand. Exploring Monster Worlds was a booming business as well.

As Alex was entering school, he suddenly felt a chill down his spine and had a bad feeling. Almost instinctually he jumped to his left. Suddenly, a pot containing flowers fell on the ground, just where he was standing. Alex patted his chest in fear as he looked up to see that the balcony on which the pot hung had actually cracked.

"Pitted! I was absolute pitted!" Alex screamed inwardly. He already knew this was the bad luck effect acting at random. People collected around him to see the pot falling.

"Damn, the perverted fatty almost died just now!" Someone yelled.

"How did the school leave such a fragile balcony plank out in the open?" Someone grumbled?

"The school takes in such a lot of fees and this is the kind of crappy infrastructure we are getting!"

"Fatty, are you alright?" A heroic looking youth came and slapped Alex's shoulders. Alex looked at the youth and sighed. It was his best friend, Jonas. Jonas also happened to be the genius of the grade, already reaching Uncommon grade.

Alex inspected Jonas status immediately.

[Jonas Simu]

[Uncommon Grade - 5]

...

Alex saw that Jonas's abilities were mostly suited towards the fire element - probably because he practiced a fire element based cultivation art.
