Rein sat as in the wagon, lost in his head, he didn't know what trigger, perhaps being at the brink of death must have, but he judged himself. Rein who had been paramount interested in his own wellbeing rather than giving himself a splendid adventure. His old life has haunted him so much that he has been bounded to the memories. Rein lived his life in this new world as though trying to run away from the old one, he was giving chances to break free, he was giving another opportunity to see what he would have become if he had the privileges others had, but even in the chances and opportunities that was presented to him, he still lived being tied down by his old life.
Perhaps Rein was the one hindering himself from true growth, he had potential, but he was holding back too much, he was being to selfish.
He thought to himself.
'If I actually ever die in this world. . . will I regret my life?'
A new reality was dawning on him.
'Why have I not ever thought of this. This world it's so easy for anyone to die, and yet I live my whole present preparing for a future I might not even get to have. I'm dumb! I'm dumb! I'm dumb.'
Rein clenched his hair and bowed his head as if he was in agony.
'Its the first time I've seen him like this'
Zolin sitting next to him did not know how to react, he didn't know why Rein was like this in the first place. He has never seen him in so much agony.
'What happened while I was defeated by the thief'
Rein lifted up his head,
". . . fighting with that thief helped me realize many things, one, I'm weak, I'm really weak and I wasn't concerned about it because I underestimated this world way too much, I don't wanna die, the only way to protect myself in this world is to be strong, I had the whole thing wrong, not being involved in conflict won't guarantee my safety, being overwhelmingly strong will."
He looks into Zolin's eye,
"It's gonna be different from here onwards, I'm clear about alot of things now that I know I can die anytime. But one thing I'm sure of is, it's gonna be different from this point onwards Of course I still don't wanna be involved in unnecessary conflicts."
Zolin smiled,
"Don't worry, I got your back. I'll protect you"
"Fuck that. . .Seriously did you just day that, you were knocked out cold and you still could blubber that nonsense, you should really be in tears right now, you destroyed the reputation of the academy. Well I did raised reputation"
Zolin ashamed of himself.
"I'll do better"
Rein laughed at him as they proceeded to the academy.
'I think it's a good thing he's changed like this. I've watched you from on the sheep, you have a lot of potential, something keeps screaming to me, it'll be fun to be with you, you'll show me the height of adventure and fun. But of recent, you're beginning to build some convictions in me.'
Zolin smiled as Rein was being his usual goofy self.
