Rachael Point Of View:
"Becky is your ex-girlfriend," Hannah repeats my sentence after I finished telling her who Becky was and is to me.
I nod at her, my hand tangled in her hair as she lays her head on my lap.
"Becky is one of your ex-girlfriends...?" She questions me, looking up at me.
I shot her a stare, "Becky is one and only one of my ex-girlfriend, she was my first, which means it was my first relationship. I'm not a player -"
"Austin is," Hannah cuts in, and she sat up from my lap.
"You know, whatever is going in between you and Austin need to stop, it's childish," I say. I'm tired of hearing the things between Austin and Hannah.
Hannah is my girlfriend now, and Austin is one of my friends. If I get in between those two, I would have to choose Austin or Hannah or be the middle man.
Austin is a player, and Hannah is a cheater, both of them got a bad reputation. I don't know why this is such a big deal between them, and it's childish in my own opinion.
"I do want to stop," Hannah says. "It's just he won't stop."
"Then go and talk to him," I suggest rolling my eyes. "Whatever is going on between you two, I don't want to interfere. But if this keeps on going on, it's going to be a mess. I don't know why this is such a big deal."
I shake my head in disappointment.
"I just want to redeem myself," Hannah says softly, looking down at her palms. "I just don't know how."
I let out a sigh before crawling over to Hannah on my bed.
"Who did you cheated on?" I ask her, and curiosity fills within me.
Her eyes widen in panic, and she looks at me with lips parted. Her body tensed up, and her color went pale.
"I - uh -" Hannah stuttered, and I could see her biting her inner cheek. "I regret it. She-she someone who I love - used to love - and it -"
She starts to gasp as she tries to find her words. Quickly, I set my palms on her face trying to calm her down.
"Take a deep breath, Hannah," I say softly. She took a deep breath listening to my instructions. "Now breathe it out, breathe in and out through your nose. Slowly."
I watch her taking a deep breath over and over. Her lips quivers, I look at her in the eyes and rubs her face with my thumb.
"Hey, is this a sensitive topic for you?" I say softly, holding her in my arms.
I wait for her response as I listen to the quiet house. I couldn't hear anything downstairs, which makes me worried until I heard the oven dinged.
"I never thought quiet could be this loud," I whisper, then I heard sniffing on my shoulder. Hannah's arms tighten around my waist as she continues to snob in my shoulder. Patting her back as she continues to snob, I probably shouldn't have brought it up. We don't need to know each other ex-girlfriend, but everyone knows - practically everyone knows.
After the moment of Hannah crying, which seems like an hour later to get tissues and make her stop crying, and right now, we are eating cookies in the kitchen table, with Hannah hugging my teddy bear from Becky.
"Looks like you're getting comfy with the teddy bear," I say, taking another cookie from the pan.
"It's soft and comfortable," Hannah replies softly, she squeezes the teddy bear as she hugs it tighter. "Who gave it to you?"
"Becky," I answered her, she looks at me in shock and disgust before throwing the teddy bear across the room.
"Shit, sorry!" She stumbles to get the teddy bear. "I didn't know you keep presents from your ex-girlfriend."
I look at the teddy bear and back to Hannah, not bothered by the teddy bear abused by Hannah. I went to grab more cookies from the pan and start munching it down.
My mind still wonders about who is Hannah's ex-girlfriend, but every time I would try to bring it up. Every time I would try to bring it up, Hannah would dodge it by crying her eyeballs out. Every time I would ask her who is it, she would look at me in pain. Whoever her ex-girlfriend is, where ever she is, or it's someone I know. It's none of my business, and this has been a long going on process.
It's time for everyone to move on from the past, Hannah wants to redeem herself, and Austin needs to accept the past. As for me, I think I should not get myself tangle up in a problem that isn't big.
"Rachael, we lost track of time," Hannah says, coming up to me with the teddy bear under her arm, breaking my thoughts I look at the time.
"It's the afternoon," I say, looking back at her, confused.
"I've got a surprise for you," Hannah smiles.
"Surprise?" I ask.
"Yeah, remember this morning?" Hannah asks, her face looks worried.
"Oh!" I say, letting out a giggle.
"Come on, let's go," She says, tugging my arm with her.
"Wait, wait, I need to tell my Mom first," I say.
I walk to the living room and saw Mom and Abby watching Frozen II.
"Bruh, I've watched the movie like five times," I say, plopping down next to Abby.
Abby scoots a bit closer to me, "Tonight, you are going to explain why you're dating Hannah and not Samantha."
She gives me a death glare, and I look away.
"Um, Mom, Hannah and I are going out," I say, getting my Mom's attention.
"Don't stay out too late," Mom says, still facing the TV screen.
I got up from the couch and head to the front door.
"Let's go," I said to Hannah, putting on my shoes and grab my leather jacket.
"Nice jacket," Hannah smiles as she traces her fingers over it.
"Oh, this?" I say, zipping it up.
I open the door and walked out of the house, sliding my hands in the pockets, "This leather jacket was a present from Becky, she rides a motorcycle and a sports car."
Hannah gives me a disapproval look, and I shrug in response.
"It's free."
