Chapter 4 - Uncommon Artifact

After a few moments Alex had finally calmed down. This so called race is starting and it was time for him to start as well. Just getting the moon pendant has changed his life so much and if anything is worth taking a leap for it is this race. After awhile he looked at his reflection in the mirror. After looking down at his watch he realized it was 12:01 at night. He looked at his reflection that looked strange. A white haired boy stared back at him, his skin glowing in the moonlight coming in from the window. The pendent on his chest shimmering slightly. It took a few seconds before he got a new notification.

Common Starter Skill Received- Selective Vision LV:1

Selective Vision LV:1: This ability allows you to single out specific things in your vision. This can be used on any object and thing as long as you name it in one word. While doing so the object becomes the only thing you can see in your vision and if it is not there then the skill will fail to activate.

'Strange' Alex thought as he tried the ability out. 'Mirrors' he said mentally. As soon as he said that the mirror in front of him seemed to become crystal clear as everything else dulled and became a blurry grey. 'Stop' The effect then stopped. 'Hmm... this should help me find artifacts if I use it right. Only one way to find out. Artifacts' As soon as Alex thought that the room dimmed once more and all that was in view was the sharp contrast of his necklace. He looked at it for a few moments before stopping the skill. 'Seems to work well. I guess I should start looking for artifacts starting from tomorrow.'

He looked around once more before he decided to get some practice with his ability before he heads asleep once more. 'I wonder if I could control shadows instead of creating them. That should be more cost effective right?' Alex thought. He focused on the shadows that were already heavily in the room and slowly felt his mind grasp hold onto the invisible strings of the shadows and slowly but surely he felt that he was gaining control of them quite quickly. After a few seconds Alex could see the shadows slowly shifting in place. After a few more moments the shadows in the room seemed to shift into one area while the moonlight flooded the other area strangely. The shadows slowly began to cover him and his body. He felt the coolness of being in the shade as they held up against him. 'Hmm... It's way easier to do this at night. Strange. Perhaps it has to do with the moon.' he thought.

The darkness in the room slowly made a few handful of balls all around him. 'I wonder what these can actually do. Are they useful for anything?' Alex thought as he commanded one of the balls to hit the ground. The Ball went quick and strong but didn't make contact with the ground, instead it seemed to make the shape of the ball in the ground. The shadow of a ball on the ground. It was strange to look at but it was quite neat. There was nothing to cast the shadow, and now that he thought about it whenever he created things with the shadows they didn't seem to cast shadows as well. It was weird because they looked like physical things that would block light but instead they just... didn't exist almost.

Alex felt a slight pressure on his forehead as he realized he was sweating quite heavily. 'Probably over Exertion.... I need to make sure I keep track on how i'm feeling while using these abilities.' Alex thought seriously. Alex quickly went to bed and woke up in the morning to the feeling of the sun on his skin. He found himself on the floor near the window. No longer in the comfy looking bed.

'Time to find some Artifacts'

Alex got up and headed outside to find a worried Sarah and John sitting by a table in the cute dining room. As soon as they saw Alex yawning and walking around they looked at him in shock. "Good morning John and Sarah. Thank you so much for letting me stay here again, it felt so good to sleep indoors again." Alex said. Sarah quickly said "Alex you were sleeping for three days! Are you okay?" Alex looked at her in confusion and slowly said "I must have really been tired. I didn't mean to worry you, I feel good as new."

Sarah looked at him for a second before saying "I should make you something to eat then. You must be starving." As she said that Alex realized that he was, indeed, starving. After a few minutes she had some nice looking eggs sat out in front of him with some orange juice and toast. He devoured it quickly and felt satisfied afterward. John looked at me with joy as Alex ate the food in joy. After I finished breakfast he looked at me and said "Hey Alex I was wondering if you would like to hang out with me today. You know, go around the city exploring and shopping? I have to get groceries and I also need to buy you some clothes so you can change." Alex looked at him and slowly nodded his head, feeling quite weird while doing so. It was probably the first time he had ever been offered to 'go around the city'.

John quickly finished his breakfast before taking his keys and heading out with Alex. "First we need to get you some new clothes. We can't have you wearing the same clothes everyday around here when we are supposed to be helping you out." he said quite seriously. After a few minutes he already had us in a store looking through loads of clothing. After thirty minutes Alex could easily guess they had more then what they could fit inside the dresser in his guest room. Alex while touring around town would use his new selective sight ability whenever he got the chance to see if there were any artifacts around but sadly there were none, that was until John surprised him with a visit to the museum here.

It was strange at first but Alex quickly became entranced with the stories written all over the place. Everything in this museum has a story and everything when brought together makes a kind of history. It took awhile but he and John had finally managed to tour the majority of the museum. It was quite the fun time and after wards John took Alex too the gift shop were he offered to buy whatever he wanted. Alex subconsciously activated his ability and saw something that really shocked him. There was an artifact in here. On a case by the front gift shop they have necklaces that are hand made and one of them had a bright red glass bead in it and it seemed to glow like the sun underneath Alex's detection ability.

"Hey John, I think I know what I want but.... It could be a little bit expensive. It looks like it is 20 dollars and I know that's quite a bit of cash." Alex said cautiously while eyeing the necklace. "Hahaha, no problem bud, I'll get it wrapped too. I just hope you had a good time and are starting to relax." he said happily. He took him and Alex back to his house afterwards and they talked about there day with Sarah. She seemed very happy about the situation even though she had said that she didn't want any more strangers in there house. Alex felt good about the situation though. He felt.... free almost.

After a discussion and a great dinner he found himself in the guest bedroom with the necklace in his hands. Before he could do anything a notification appeared on his watch before popping up before his eyes.
