"Truly, it is the simplest of spells. At allows you to see the magic around you that we spell casters tap into to perform magic."
"A-Alright."
He suddenly moved closer to her and stationed himself right behind her. She tried to look back at him in shock of this movement but he instructed that she paid no heed towards him and to only concentrate on looking forward and to listen to his instructions.
Then, he lightly leaned forward so that he spoke a little nearer to her right ear, but not close enough that his chin was on her shoulder.
"Now, close your eyes. Take a deep breathe in and out. I want you to concentrate hard and block any sound or distractions other than my voice. If you quiet yourself and your mind enough, you will see and hear things that are normally hidden in the world filled with noise and distractions."
Naera did just that. She quieted her mind and her surroundings and tried hard to listen, to search for something she could not quite explain.
At the first few minutes, nothing. She was starting to get worried that she had failed this spell.
"Don't be nervous. It's alright. It really doesn't show up that quickly. Concentrate. Continue to concentrate."
She took a deep breathe in and out, calming herself down. And as she did, there it was. Her eyes were completely closed and yet, she was seeing things as though her eyes were wide open. She saw different colors of waves floating in the air. There was so many, it filled the entire room. It looked like multi colored mist.
She gasped at what she saw and heard Terlan lightly chuckle behind her.
"Yes, it is quite marvelous, is it not?"
"Yes, yes it is! It's so beautiful!" Suddenly, she saw a red wave dancing in front of her. Curious about it, she touched it. It clung itself to her right arm, wrapping all over it like a red sentient, mist snake.
She stared at it curiously and opened the palm of her left hand and pointed her index as well as middle finger into the center of her open left palm so that it can transfer unto her other arm.
It didn't quite do that as the red wave slithered down her arm and simply danced around her open palm for some reason with her fingers still pointing unto it. Some parts of it still clung to her right arm, but most danced around her palm and on her fingers that were pointing unto it.
She was still deep within this spell, blocking all other sounds and distractions that she didn't hear Ilara's footsteps as she returned as well as her loud gasp.
"ILARA! PUT THAT OUT! IT CAN BURN THE WHOLE LIBRARY!!!" She suddenly opened her eyes and gasped in shock as well. Before her was a live flame that circled around her arm and fingers that pointed unto her palm, creating a flame that danced on it. It didn't even feel hot, just warm.
She lifted her hand quickly off her open palm and the flame disappeared. She looked behind her and saw that Terlan's eyes were sparkling with pride and excitement.
"That was amazing! Cousin, did you see that? She just made the fire spell without even knowing how to make the spell on the first place! She just did it on her own!"
"She did what!?"
At the tone of her voice, she started apologizing quickly.
"I am terribly sorry, Miss Ilara! I didn't mean to endanger the library! I am so, so sorry! Please forgive m-" Suddenly, she felt Ilara hug her tight.
"Hahaha! That is amazing! I never knew you had such talent Naera! No one has ever done that in centuries! You are gifted, Naera!"
"O-oh. Thank you as well, Miss Ilara."
"Now, now. No calling me "Miss". Besides, it's all right. You didn't burn the library yet."
