I held my breath. He looked up at me. "Bethany is okay. She's in Georgia. Very high rank." He said. I nodded. "And her child?" I asked. "Nothing of a child here....I'm sorry.." He said. I just nodded and teared up. I heard the garage door open and we just started to clean up, pretending we had done chores the entire time. Ms. Price walked in, happy as can be. "To let you guys know, I will be getting a baby in this home soon!" We nodded, knowing we couldn't take care of the baby. We kept cleaning. I was wiping up the mirrors when I looked into my reflection. My unruly hair was longer than it usually is. I felt that I was getting paler being stuck in this house everyday. I was becoming white. I chuckled to myself and kept cleaning. I heard a few doors and i looked around, seeing no one around, including Andrew. I was beyond confused until I saw the master bedroom door close. It hit me.
They were gonna be in huge trouble if anyone found out. I hear them start to laugh, and I just quickly made some noise to drown the noises out. I thought about me and Bethany. How she would always hold me close. How she would run her fully manicured nails in my hair and back, no matter what. Even if I had just come home and was dirty as fuck, she loved me anyways. I just wish I could say goodbye to her, Before she went to war. I was about to start the laundry when I heard a knock at the door. I walked over and opened it. I saw a Super, the woman who was in charge of us servants in California. Funny how they changed the country name but not the states. "Ma'am" I said, bowing my head. "Where is your madam?" She asked. "She's in the shower ma'am." I had to lie, they'd kill us all if there was truth to my statement. She nodded. "Give this to her when she gets out." She said, and handed me a box with a lock. I assume Ms. Price has the key. They do this in order to make sure we don't read documents important to the government. Meaning this is important. She left and I took it to Ms. Prices door. I knocked twice, and left it there. I heard her on the phone after getting the message. At least they were allowed on the phone. We didn't have access to any of those things. The nation of Taleah was in a lot of debt after the war, so they took the many programs and weapons we had and sold them to the other nations. It was funny that women had phones but still had us delivering handwritten messages. I guess the nation needed security. I kept hearing hushes, quick worrying sentences in the phone call. Andrew left the room and we just stared at each other, then listened in. Then i heard the word. The R word, the word that could get us out of this whole nation...
