Chapter 29 - Fire in the Rain

Sebastian began handing them out, giving all of us the three tools he just took out.

"Stick the rod in the mud, and this lock would just latch on like a magnet i guess, make sure to the end with the knot inside the lock." Sebastian explained, he stabbed the ground with the rod, as he did a clang rang from the rod, Sebastian tried tugging at it but the rod won't budge. He then attaches the rope to the anchor on the rod, he tried tugging it again but the rod won't move yet again. We started to follow what he did, all anchoring down on the mud, hopefully it's sturdy enough. I attach my rope to the anchor, tugging at it as strong as I can, the anchor barely moved an inch from it's position.

"Oh yeah forgot about these." Sebastian pulled out some weird handles from the bag.

"Lock these on the ropes so you can climb down safely, stick it on the rope and inside the handle are two buttons, the bottom button is bigger than the up button so you won't get confused, we don't use climbing gear so we use this." Sebastian explained.

I grabbed a handle that Sebastian handed out and went back to the rope, I placed it near the rope, immediately as i did, the handle latched onto the the rope with a clang. After finishing the handle and the ropes i crouched next to the ledge, hoping to not slip and fall down.

"Be careful, were not gonna grab you when you fall." Lennox mockingly remarked. The team rappelled down using the ropes, I jumped still grabbing on the handle and slammed into the cliff face of the muddy ledge. I continued descending, the rope occasionally making creaks as it gets more strained as I go down. The base slowly became out of view as i started going down. The rain poured on me making me more anxious if I'm gonna fall or not.

I safely got down with my teammates, some of them struggled but none of them fell luckily.

"Leave the ropes, we might need it in case of an escape." Sebastian ordered.

After readying our weapons again, we start creeping through the foliage. Moving ever closer to the base.

"Guys, make it quick. There are artillery batteries being prepared outside, we notified the military about this already." Marcel said through the comms.

We got through the foliage, now facing one of the walls to the base, outside were 5 guards in front of us, oblivious to our presence and just talking to each other standing in front of a steel fence with a door in the middle, fortunately a tarp was covering the whole fence, these guys will die silently.

"Damon, pick one off." Sebastian ordered, i aimed my rifle at the one in the middle, with a squeeze of the trigger the bullet flew from my rifle. As soon as the the bullet reached the soldier, the rest of his friends followed in death. All falling down alongside him as my teammates killed the 4 remaining.

We step out from the foliage making our way to the fence.

"Stephen, got anything behind the fence?" Lennox asked through his comms.

"The fence is situated behind some power grid." Stephen replied.

"Damon, Mary get the corpses to the bushes." Sebastian ordered. I walked to the corpses getting a body at a time, Thankfully they have masks so i don't have to see their faces. Mary dragged the other bodies to the bush with her face not even facing any of them. Looking back at the fence i realize that my group isn't there anymore.

"Hey guys, where are you?" Mary asked using her comms.

"Inside, make it quick." Sebastian replied, speaking in a quick voice.

We walk through the door seeing Sebastian and Lennox leaning on the wall of the small building, wires all connecting to this singular small building.

"The guards went inside so we have a good window, Mary do you still have your vials?" Sebastian asked.

"Yeah, fresh from the orchard." Mary excitingly replied holding a vial with purple gas inside.

"Go to that small house, i saw a lot of them go in. Gas them inside, if they leave then just gun them down, wait until i say to gas them. Damon, follow me. Were converging on the back of that big building, the others are occupied on the other small houses. We just have to wait till we get the order to attack." Sebastian ordered.

Mary creeps through the rain and mud to a window on the house and waits there, and takes cover behind some crates. Sebastian pats Lennox on the shoulder getting his attention.

"When i say so you better turn this thing off." Sebastian ordered in a serious tone.

"Alright boss." Lennox sarcastically muttered.

Sebastian moves away from the wall, then starts creeping to the back of the house Mary went to. We passed through the back next to the crates Mary hid in, the rain got worse with the clouds turning darker and the environment becoming more faint.

"Damon just follow my back." Sebastian stated while i was still following him.

We moved past the house now making our way to the biggest building of the base, sky turning darker by the clouds, visibility almost became worse. Fog getting stronger with the sky getting darker, focusing my eyes on Sebastian walking in front of me.

While walking i can vaguely see the outline of a large flat standing surface, I'm looking at the building's wall. Sebastian continues walking near the wall's side, pointing his rifle up anticipating someone to appear in front of him.

"Stephen, do you know where I'm going and facing?" Sebastian asked.

"You're on the side of the building, luckily the side i can still see." Stephen replied.

"Oh and make it quick, the army guys are already in position as of now." Marcel added.

We got to the door that me and Sebastian would use, as we positioned ourselves next to the door. Lights from different parts of the base suddenly died.

"Lennox did you kill it." Sebastian asked disgruntled.

"Uhhh that's not me man." Lennox replied.

A loud bang rang my ears from above us, flashes of red and yellow replaced the dark gloomy sky as the banging continued.

"BEGIN THE ASSAULT." A voice angrily said in my ear.

Seconds after, gunfire joined in the fight with the army now storming the area. Menacing and ear piercing shouts or wails drowned out both the cannons and gunfire. Sebastian rams through the door with his entire weight, after getting through the door he stumbles to the ground but regains his balance. In front of me was just hell, lights flew through as bullets shredded the inside, the shouts only got stronger with the gunfire and cannons.

"There!" Sebastian points at a stairwell leading to a room, barricaded with shadows moving in the inside. I ran with Sebastian to the stairs still looking at the terrorists down below. Some of them ran frantically carrying boxes with them while most of them fired blindly into the opening of the warehouse.

We got up the stairs with the gunfire deafening my ears, tightening my grip on my rifle, a modified Hunter 10. In a rush I couldn't think anymore, only focusing on getting to that door with Sebastian and doing whatever needs to be done.

Sebastian positions himself next to the door, rifle aimed down.

"Damon I'm opening the door, your time to hunt." Sebastian enthusiastically ordered. I pointed my Hunter at the door awaiting for my first kill in this warehouse.

"Damnit locked." Sebastian groaned, he aimed his rifle at the doorknob of the door, in a second the doorknob turned into a cloud of dust. Sebastian pushes the door open with his hand, in front of me were 3 people all in armor, similar to the one that only stops pistols, all not focusing on the door but on different things. I pointed my hunter at the first one using a radio speaking in a desperate voice. With the pull of the trigger the man's head became enveloped in blood, the soldier falls on the desk he was sitting on with blood staining the entire station. The two others realized their dead friend slumped on the desk, one of them struggled to get his weapon while the other was already aiming at me. As if time slowed down my rifle was already pointing at the soldier and before i knew it a round shot out from my gun hitting the soldier in the chest. The soldier fell to the ground gripping his vest in pain, the other soldier pointed right at me. Again, as if from instinct without though my rifle aimed at the head, without a second thought i pulled the trigger. As i stopped to regain my thoughts Sebastian walked past me, he threw the dead soldier on the desk to the ground then starts rummaging through desk.
