Chapter 44 - A letter for the king

Reigner couldn't care less about those people.

He wanted to speak, but he also had another goal in mind. So when they began questioning him without intent to speak about something else, Reigner went straight to the action. In his hand, a painting from the emperor's chamber appeared.

His wife was the one to pass it to him.

"It is a treasure!"

"What?"

The people with earth elements had sensed the uniqueness of the painting within Reigner's hand. People with low status went wide while the one with noble status shouted. He notified the leader of this expedition about the treasure, but Reigner's laughter was the first thing to assault them.

Then, the painting turned into mere magic particles that glittered with dark yellow stars.

Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!

The earth trembled then. It felt like the wrath of the world has fallen on the Lora Kingdom's army, all due to the earthquakes enveloping their legs. Many of them had fallen with the truly strongest ones maintaining their positions.

"What did he do?!"

The leader's hand was pointed below, flashing with similar light to stop the earthquakes but to no avail. Amidst the roars of the falling and stricken with fear soldiers, the leader painfully utilized his earth magic.

Then, the change within the earth occurred.

His eyes dilated slightly, and a relieved smile slowly widened. However, he quickly found out that this change was not due to his magic power, but Reigner's painting... The earthquake was strong and many soldiers had fallen dead already.

But the real technique had yet to unfold.

"S-stop!"

The earth split up like the demon's mouth. One by one, the soldiers began falling straight into that demon's pit, losing their lives in the process...

"Help! Help us, Noble!"

"Arghhhhh! Help! Help!"

"I don't want to die! No! No!"

The ground below them had not split up into a half. A lot more cracks began to appear, opening up in a gluttonous way. Soon, the soldiers got forced to betray their kin, pushing them off to the pit in their attempts to escape this place.

It was a disaster. A disaster brought up by the new noble with a mysterious origin.

"Betrayals... A will to survive... Pretty much everyone had lost their sense of contiguity and began betraying each other... Oh, look, there is someone bold enough to help his friend..."

"From our intel, the wind soldiers can float from five to ten minutes 2 meters above the ground."

"Wind soldiers are lucky, but it is not because of their element, but because I don't want to waste more paintings."

Either way, the wind soldiers won't be able to save their friends as well. The cracks spread so widely that earth pits could be seen on the horizon. They had enough time to only save themselves. Of course, Reigner needed survivors.

He used the painting in a way that the leader also would survive.

"If it was a battlefield, we would've been already throwing off our weapons to bring back to the ground the flying soldiers... and add some help for the ones below."

""""Yes!""""

Reigner threw his eyes to the side, then continued to watch the disaster unfolding below. It was one of the brutal ways to die, falling from such height that is. If he focused deeply, then the sounds of the skull and bones shattering would assault him.

Was it because he is the user of the painting?

The death kept visiting the battleground, then Reigner finally clapped his hands. He stopped the magic technique, closing up the cracks as a result. This evoked bitter smiles from the survivors as they knew that he could keep going.

"The dead bodies can not be retrieved as well... It is way too painful, right? I wish we could give them a funeral."

"What's your goal, Noble Medusa?"

Since there were users of the earth element, they could tell that the cracks were still filled with a lot of magic. The thought of Reigner activating them anew was deeply lingering within their minds... This was the same for the leader whose lips were moving so respectfully only the king of Lora Kingdom was worthy enough to hear it.

Now, Reigner became the second person though.

"I want you to pass the letter to your king."

"Just... because of the letter?"

"In this letter, the death of the prince is explained, but that is just me being benevolent enough. I have something to talk about with your king, so you better make this letter a priority."

"Just... because of the letter, you have killed... more than three thousand people..."

"The one who killed them was you."

Reigner already left this border's wall and appeared before the fallen leader. He tapped his cheek, then his next words tore apart the heart of the fallen noble.

"I invited you to my land, didn't I? Whose choice was to reject my invitation for a peaceful talk? Haha~~ You have three days, by the way."

"Yes... I will deliver the message even tonight!"

"If you don't then I don't mind barging to your capital with a fashion in my hands."

The noble trembled visibly, his face getting even paler. He nearly puked some blood from the fear as well, then with Reigner's approval, he stood up and run first straight to the capital. The survivors followed him without bothering about their status, even outrunning their noble in a process.

With his eyes hovered on their disappearing backs, Reigner spat out some saliva, then turned around. When he came back to his gates, Paula greeted him and copped his hand. Once surrounded by the troops, she finally spoke.

"How about we draw?"

"Hmm? Draw? I suck at drawing though."

"Let's draw and hang up the paintings around our border."

Now, everyone realized the goal of the fourth princess. They nearly exploded with a laugh, their mouths covered tightly. Some had even their cheeks puffed from the image of Lora people escaping from the badly drawn paintings.

Obviously, most of the people here sucked at drawing.

"Ahahaha! Let's do it! Johne, bring canvas for everyone! And you go for some brushes."

""Yes!""

This night, the paintings that couldn't be described by anything more than 'child's drawing' got hung up around the border. Strangely enough, the spies and other kingdoms watching the border had not laughed at those, even a bit.

"Ahahaha! Who the fuck draw that shit? Is it supposed to be a bird? Buahaha! Even my drawing is not that bad!"

"It was me, Reigner."

"..."

Only one person could silence the laughter of Noble Medusa.
