[•Nuri's POV•]
We reached the apartment and the other girl who helped me at the bar greeted us. "Welcome back" She said, "Well found, thank you dear" replied Yeşim. "Thanks" I said entering, I smiled and held out my hand and she shook it. "My name's Nuri" I said, "I am Deren" and she smiled back. Thankfully this girl didn't come forward to kiss me.
After changing, the three of us sat on the couch and started talking random stuff until Yeşim got up to make her fabulous tea. "Does it hurt?" Asked Deren, "Not much, this always happens. This right leg of mine has been a bit week since childhood, even when I trip I end up twisting my ankle. It's no big deal" "But you were so brave out there!" She said this girl was nothing like her description, also she was pretty younger than me, she went to college daily and in the evenings she went to work. "What do you mean?" I asked not understanding, "You know the way you shouted at him, if it was Yeşim then she would have flirted" and Deren laughed "Would not! But... You have to admit that he was gorgeous" said Yeşim, handing us a glass each and pouring warm tea. "Well I don't" said Deren.
I laughed at their fight, "Didn't you see his hair? How nice it looked? and his face! ah..." Sighed Yeşim, "Well I saw his brows, how angry he was for a simple thing" protested Deren. "Well, what do you think Nuri?" And she made me choke on my tea, "About what?" I asked controlling my cough, "Wasn't he handsome?" She asked in a dreamy way, "Well... I think... Looks don't really make a man" I replied, "Finally someone logical!" Said Deren, "That doesn't mean he looked bad, he was good-looking..." I ended, sipping my tea again, but I so regretted saying that line because for the next two minutes, Yeşim stared at me with astonishment and Deren stared at me with a 'seriously?' look.
Before going to bed, I called Mom. My mother said she was very busy, there was a pipe leak in the area and she was desperately trying to reach the corporation people so I had to hang up early. I didn't talk to Fatoş for a whole day and I wanted to tell her everything that had happened.
"Hello, Fatoş?" I asked I was sitting on my bed. "Nuri! How did the first day go?" She seemed so excited, "Not that good" I said sighing, "What happened?" "Till evening it was fantastic, Yeşim took me shopping, we went to the amusement park and it was heaven" I said happily, "That sounds so good.. but what happened after?" "Uh... We had to go to a bar... To meet my other roommate, Deren. She worked there. So we went and... Uh... My top got kinda stuck... Well it was, stuck on some table and I pulled hard causing my leg to slip and hit on one of its legs, the table's leg... And uh... I fell on top of somebody... Some man... He had a glass of alcohol in his hand. The glass shot up causing the liquor to fall all over my face... It was really embarrassing, but I looked so good when I caught that glass while laying on top of that guy... And you know the worst part, he was so mad at me and obviously I was very mad at him... And then... And then... He.. he called me some 'Dubai' or 'Delhi' kiz or something like that and then... He..." "Nuri! Calm down... Take a breath" I then realized that I was continuously speaking for half an hour... "Yeah... Sorry..." I mumbled, "By the way Nuri, he didn't call you 'Delhi' kiz, he called you, deli kiz, meaning mad girl" "Ah! That jerk called me mad? He was a psychopath himself!" I yelled.
"Leave that, all I want to know is how is your leg?" Asked Fatoş, "It's kinda sprained, the doctor told not to move it much for two days... It's fine, I will thankfully be able to walk properly tomorrow itself" I said, "That's good... But I wanted to tell you something... " And her voice became feeble, "Fatoş, is something wrong?" "Not really... But I am soon getting a transfer, probably by the end of this week. We have another firm in Antakya and I will probably be staying there for a very long time" I was shocked, she was already far from me and God wanted to take us farther?
"But you just got here" I said, "Evet, biliyorum... But what can I do, our company's alliances are a bit weak there, so they are sending me... It's also kinda proud you know, only the best people are being transferred there currently" "Yeah... So you're lucky! Congratulations!" I replied changing the mood, "Thanks dear" "Rica ederim" I replied, "Your Turkish has improved considerably!" And on receiving that compliment, I turned as red as a tomato and went mute, "..." I mumbled I could hear her laugh from the other side. Thanks
××× [Long after]
The time soon began to fly fast. I was able to walk just fine after two days, but the day after, Fatoş had to leave. Yeşim came with me to her home to say farewell. I was going to miss her dearly but thanks to the technology, that has been solved. My university was to start tomorrow and I felt pretty anxious. I didn't know what to take and when to leave, but thankfully Yeşim was by my side the whole time. I had grown closer to her. She and Deren used to be neighbors in a village in Antakya but they wanted to try the 'city life' so they came here, to Istanbul.
"You know, Deren doesn't seem anything like her description" I said at the breakfast table after Deren had gone to school. "Yeah, even I noticed... You know she never used to say good morning but now, she'll be the first to say it, I guess it's because of you" she said, "Me? What did I do?" "Well that night, when you got into a fight with that man, you were so brave and bold and fierce. I now know that I will never get into a fight with you, she probably thinks of you as her role model!" And she laughed, causing me to choke on my bread.
That day also passed calmly and the next morning came, the first day of school. I got up early and cooked, nowadays I was the one who made breakfast and I liked doing that, the girls love my food and I loved them. I ate early and left, Fatoş had shown me the way earlier. I went to the office to register, found my class, my professors, and also a few likable students, and for the first time in my life, my first try at something went perfectly fine with no clumsiness or mistakes.
The days started to fly by faster. I called my mom at least once a day and Fatoş too. My course went well, so did my birthday. I was 27 now and felt grateful for everything I had and this joy continued for three more months.
