"Right… friends." He sounded so quiet, why was he so quiet? Aren't I right? Didn't he think we were friends?
The sound that he made was concerning, why did he sounded so sad when I had confirmed what we are. Unless what Liz and Yura had said was true.
"Well then a friendly outing again next Friday?" he asked, and I was about to say yes when I remembered I had the check-up, I looked at him and shook my head a no.
I apologetically smile at him hoping he can understand the situation, and this check-up could mean everything for me, I can't skip.
"I wish we could, but I have to go for a check-up –"
"What? Why? Why are you getting a check-up? Anaya Moore, you're not dying, are you? What do you need? kidney?" He asked, and I chuckled, I couldn't believe the first thing he thought about checkups are me dying, I should give him credit for caring, but that's not the point. I should kick his butt for thinking the worst.
"You ass, I haven't said anything, and you're already planning my death," I tsked and smile, "why? If I said if I needed a heart, would you have given it for me?" I jokingly said to him. It was more of a joke to me, something I would always joke to my friends.
I was expecting a laugh, but all I got was silence, what? Did my jokes go too far?
"Yes."
Was not expecting that at all, I should get a hearing aid because I didn't think I heard correctly did he said –
"Yes, I would have given you my heart Anaya Moore, not that you haven't got it," he blurted out, "If you asked I'm only one call away." Pun intended and I couldn't help to freeze. Did he mean it?
Nicholas White, you need to stop making my heart go crazy.
I didn't know how to respond to that, Should I be concern over the fact he was willingly giving his body parts like that? Or should I be a concern that he was serious at what he said, or should I be a concern the heart that I had stolen was refereeing to that?
Safe by the bell. Suddenly a ringing sound erupted, and the silence took over again as I heard the chair scraping indicating he had to stand up, the table shook a bit as he was trying to move.
"I'm going to take this, is it alright?"
"Yeah! Go ahead I'll be here, don't worry…" I reassure him. As I felt him leaving for a moment.
I took a deep breath and sigh, and I didn't realise I was holding my breath for that long. I couldn't help to think for a moment. What did he mean by already did?
Is this how I'm supposed to be feeling? Feeling a bit giddy and a bit scared at the same times. A feeling where thousands of butterflies had exploded inside my stomach.
It was a weird feeling where for once in my life it felt like I belong there, I was comfortable. He made it felt like I was human for once, not once I heard an ounce of pity; he was treating me like a friend.
A friend that is what we are right? I shouldn't get my hopes up. This is a friendly outing Anaya, not a date.
He was only trying to be friendly because he had worked to do and you're the perfect pawn for it.
But for once the word friend was unsettling inside my stomach, it didn't feel right, and I don't understand why I didn't want us to be friends and was hoping for something else.
It took a while, and Nicholas was back as he sat down again, silence took over.
"Hm –"
"I –"
Nicholas's laughter was spread throughout the booth as he looks at her, "Sorry, you could go ahead."
"No… it's alright you can go first…" I timidly said, "I think it's important."
"Oh… hm, I was wondering if I can take you home right now…" he whispers, and I sit up straight as my eyebrows furrows.
"Is something wrong?"
"I was called to the hospital this time, uh, a family member needed help, and I didn't want to leave you here, the least I can do is bring you home and –" my eyes widen at what he had sad and absurdly stood up scaring him, I slid out of the booth carefully, and I can feel Nicholas getting up.
"Anaya Moore what are you-"
"Come one, what are you doing here, your family member needs you, and you're here all okay and fine – Nic comes one –" I felt his arms as I try to drag him with me. I didn't know exactly where we are going, and I hope for the best I didn't stumble upon something or someone and embarrassed myself.
He took my hands, and he gently took my hands in his as we walked out.
"This is the first time you aren't stubborn enough to resist," he chuckles, "Are you falling for my charms now Anaya Moore?"
I look at him with my eyebrows raised at him, "Keep dreaming lover boy beside I would have resisted, but knowing how deadly your tickles are and I'm in a dress. I'm not ready to be manhandled by you."
He laughs but gently handles me inside the car, and I went inside.
The car was once again silence as I heard the other door clicking. I was waiting for the engine to start when I felt someone getting closer.
"Nic is something wrong –" I was not able to finish when I realize hot breaths had invaded my personal space and I felt someone manoeuvring in their place, and a clicking sound resonates the whole car.
"Anaya Moore, safety first." As his hot breath tickles my ears and my spine started to shiver as I sat still and frozen.
Her blushing face was enough to score for him, the look on her face and her cute blush that spread around her cheeks was making him fall for her by the second.
