Chapter 5 - 4

3 weeks later~

Lyra and Mark were now pretty much inseparable, they were close friends and did everything together. Lyra would join Mark when he was doing a video for his channel and Mark would help her come up with new ideas for her business as well as playing more video games in their spare time or baking something.

However today would be different.

Lyra woke up to the bright sun shining on her face through the curtains. Groaning and stretching she pulled back the covers and started her morning routine.

She decided to spend the day relaxing in her room and watching YouTube and film's on Netflix. But by 1PM Lyra became bored and turned off the TV.

She found herself staring into space when her phone began to ring Making her jump in surprise. Answering the phone she heard a familiar voice.

"Hey Lyra."

"Hi Mark, how you?"

"I'm good, how are you?"

"I'm well thank you".

"I'm glad, hey are you doing anything today?"

"Not really no, I was just watching TV."

"Well I was wondering if you wanted to go to a fun fair".

Lyra gasped in excitement, "definitely, I love fun fairs, well apart from when there's a lot of people and with my balance not being the best I can easily get knocked over".

Mark could hear the excitement and concern in her voice and did his best to reassure her.

"Don't worry it'll be alright I'll be right there with you, you'll be fine."

"Thank you Mark, I look forward to going".

"Great, I'll see you in an hour, bye- bye".

The call was ended and Lyra made sure to be ready for when Mark arrived, putting on her shoes and splints before deciding to do some drawing to pass the time.

Before long a knock at the door was heard, getting up Lyra went to answer the door.

"Hi Mark".

"Hey, you ready to go?"

Lyra nodded, "yeah I'm ready, I'm looking forward to this it's been a while since I've been to a fun fair", she explained as Mark moved to hold  open the passenger door. "Thank you".

Mark closed the door and ran to the driver's side.

"You're welcome, I'm glad I could give you something to look forward to, though out of curiosity how long is it since you went to a fun fair or any type of gathering?"

Lyra took a moment to gather her thoughts and took a deep breath, "it's definitely been a few years, my parents never liked me going to mass gatherings and I've never understood why, they never did tell me and honestly they didn't like me doing a lot of things".

Mark nodded in understanding and decided not to push it any further

"Well starting today, that is about to change", he spoke softly giving a smile.

The journey to the fair was eventful, both Lyra and Mark listened to their favourite songs singing at the top of their lungs until the fair came into sight.

Mark soon found a spot to park and helped Lyra out of car. Walking around and taking in their surroundings the fair was filled with lights, music many rides and screams of joy and laughter along with the wonderful smell of delicious food and sweets.

"What do you want to do first", Mark asked facing Lyra as they came to a stop for a moment.

"How about... the ferris wheel"

"Sure, let's go"

Mark and Lyra headed towards the ferris wheel, however in a short amount of time the fair became very busy, this unnerved Lyra by being constantly unbalanced by many people brushing past her. She began to feel panicked until she felt a comforting hand hold hers and saw Mark looking at her with concern.

"Hey, it's ok I'm here, come on were almost there".

Lyra nodded and continued to walk to the ferris wheel alongside Mark keeping her hand in his. She soon breathed a sigh of relief when they reached the ferris wheel.

Once aboard she instantly felt calmer taking in the view as the sun bathed the area in a warm glow.

"The view from up here is beautiful", Lyra spoke softly.

"Yeah, it is", Mark paused for a moment collecting his thoughts before speaking again.

"Lyra?"

"Yeah, is everything ok?", turning to face him she saw a nervous look on his face.

"Everything's fine, it's- it's just I have a confession to make", he explained in a calm soft tone. He watched as she encouraged him to continue.

"I know that we've only been friends for a short while but I feel like I've known you forever and- and I've fallen for you Lyra, I've fallen in love with you. I understand if you don't feel the same I-"

Mark immediately stopped when he felt a gentle hand upon his cheek.

"It's alright Mark, I've fallen for you too", she said speaking almost in a whisper.

They both gave each other shy smiles and leaned in until their lips finally connected.

Today was definitely something different...
