Chapter 1 - Chapter One

"Can we have some Kettle corn, PLEASE?!?!?", I asked in the most annoying voice possible.

"We heard you the first 50 times, you don't need to keep asking.", my twin brother Jacob complained.

I rolled my eyes, as my older sister Rain whispered, "The kettle corn stand is coming up soon, I will buy some for you there."

"Your just saying that to make her quiet," Jacob said In such a loud and obnoxious voice that some of the people passing us, gave him a weird look.

Mom even turned around and stopped her conversation with dad for a little while to scold him.

My sister grabbed my hand and led me to the Kettle corn stand, to wait in line. As we were waiting, my sister bumped into the kettle corn cart, and it fell onto the ground and burst into flames, quickly the fire spread to each tent until it was impossible to stop. people started frantically running all over the place trying to escape from the constantly growing fire, but it was clear to me that the situation was hopeless, and it was all my fault.

Smoke tried to enter my body, only to find that I was already filled with it, the one comfort I had, not being able to get more smoke inside my body. I broke into a coughing fit that stung mercilessly on my charred throat. As my tears evaporated into nothingness smoke swirling around me eagerly filled the space of the smoke I coughed out. Then I saw it, my brother's dead charred black body. His eyes were open and clouded grey like the smoke swirling around us. Hot tears stream down my face, evaporating before they reach his body. Then everything went still.
