Chapter 17 – Coffin Tied With Red String (3)

Grandpa came to dry land and saw that Old Blindman was holding the red string and pulling the coffin up. It had felt like thousands of tons earlier, but in Old Blindman's hands, it seemed to be light as a feather. A while later, Old Blindman lifted a finger and fished the coffin out of the water. It slammed onto the ground.

Grandpa lit a torch and got closer. Now, he discovered what was strange about this coffin.

He'd thought that it was upturned in the water, but it wasn't true. This coffin was unlike all others that he'd seen before. Regular coffins had a small bottom and large top, but this was the opposite. That was why Grandpa had thought that it was upside down.

Most importantly, the coffin had been under the well for so long, but it still looked new. Just as he was studying it, he suddenly heard a strange noise—like breathing. This breath made him pale from fright!

He couldn't believe his ears, but when he pressed his ear against the coffin, he was sure.

The breathing really did f*cking come from the coffin!

Grandpa practically leapt away. He ran to Old Blindman and rambled, "Immortal! The coffin! There's breathing!"

"Don't worry. I'm here," Old Blindman said, squeezing Grandpa's shoulder. He was very strong. The light squeeze relaxed Grandpa instantly. Old Blindman's firm words also calmed him down immensely.

"Immortal, then what do we do now?"

Old Blindman didn't answer. He just set the black bag from his back onto the ground. Grandpa had been curious about the bag since he met Old Blindman. Seeing that he was about to open it, Grandpa immediately became curious.

Grandpa didn't say anything. He just watched Old Blindman unwrap the layers of black cloth extremely gently. As each layer was unraveled, Grandpa smelled an indescribable fragrance. He'd never smelled something like this before. Even now, he still couldn't say what exactly it was. But he was sure that the fragrance could make anyone feel relaxed and comfortable.

Grandpa looked at Old Blindman's face and saw gentleness in it.

Yes, gentleness. It was a type of love or even spoiled affection. Even though Old Blindman's gaze was unfocused, Grandpa could still feel it from his lifeless eyes.

When the bag was completely opened, the indescribable fragrance grew heavier. Grandpa finally saw what was wrapped in the fabric. He hadn't guessed incorrectly. It really was a person.

It was a woman in white clothing with a pale face. She looked beautiful, but her lips were purple. She also had long black fingernails with blood in the cracks.

Grandpa's eyes moved towards her stomach. He could see that it was a bit swollen. She seemed to be pregnant. Judging from how Old Blindman looked at the corpse, she must be his daughter or lover. But Old Blindman didn't say and Grandpa didn't dare to ask.

"Open the coffin," Old Blindman said to Grandpa while looking at the corpse.

Grandpa had too many questions now. In fact, he felt like he'd been tricked into a trap. However, a voice inside kept telling him that the Old Blindman who helped all the villagers for nothing in return definitely wouldn't hurt him. A little beggar like him had nothing that an old Immortal would want either.

Thus, Grandpa went over and undid the string wrapped around the coffin. He took out the nails and was about to open this strangely-shaped coffin.

"If you open the coffin, you will die without a doubt." This voice suddenly rang out in Grandpa's ears. Rather than Old Blindman's voice, it was the little dragon sending a telepathic message to him. Grandpa stopped. Sweat rolled down his forehead.

"Open it. I won't let you die," Old Blindman said slowly.
