Joaquin looked at the swamp and nothing was happening even after a whole minute of the bomb dropped in.
"Master, what do we do now?" Ains asked.
"Nothing, just wait, those things although I expect them to blow this whole place up will achieve their mission. All they have to do is lure the shark up here and automatically we will reach our destination."
"Like magic?" Ains asked with a bright smile beaming across her face.
Joaquin stared at her for a few seconds and started to wonder what Ains's people referred to binary as. Judging from how she calls the stuff that he does magic, there must be a different word used there, a word that made magic seem like something mystical and unknown.
But then, he didn't ask. Ains was probably not going to give a satisfying answer anyway, he looked up to see students hugging each other, crying, and cursing him out. That was the most important part of all of this, to make sure they never bothered him again. The more tormented they felt about him, the more they are going to want to stay away. Even through hate, they will not be a bother.
The water started to swirl around and around, at first it wasn't noticeable, but it got faster and faster. Ains looked up to Joaquin and asked, "Master, are they going to be okay?"
Joaquin exhaled a huge wave of air and thought to himself, 'I hope not,' as he nodded yes to Ains's question.
A giant fin appeared on top of the waters and as soon as it showed up the students regained part of their mobility. One of them was so scared they tripped over themselves and still got up super quickly. After noticing this, the others bundled up together while some others discussed a way out.
"Do not move, and most importantly don't try and go back," Joaquin called out to those who were shifting their bodies to face the other way.
"Then what should we do?" Luo asked as he relocated over to the Idol Prince, he grabbed his wrist and apologized while doing so.
Joaquin checked his watch and looked up at the fin again, it was covered with the somehow clear water. He then looked at the group, "all of you should face this way. At my command try your hardest not to activate your abilities and move forward. I don't care if you run or go slow, just don't splash any water."
They shook their heads and somehow they managed to slowly calm down as Joaquin explained the procedure. With the thought of him being an enemy cast out, they managed to admire his calming and sweet voice.
He raised his finger and signaled for them to move forward, they hesitated still, but the idol Prince took charge and went forward with Luo still attached to his wrist. Beipan also followed and little by little they all came forward, some students even found a way to jog.
Their faces brightened and their hearts beat faster now with joy in place of the fear they once had. The other end of the swamp had never seemed closer to them than it was now.
"YAY!" One girl suddenly let out of a joyous little scream. Everyone froze in their tracks and glared at her, the shark continued with its roam around completely ignorant of what had just transpired.
"Are you crazy," another guy called out at her.
"Shh,"
"Are you trying to get us killed?" A back and forth erupted from the students, the Idol Prince tried to calm them down but all effort was futile, worrying for his safety Luo dragged him away. Physically he was weaker than Luo so his protest was boiled down to nothing, Beipan didn't even bother with them, even laughed.
Soon after, the students realized that the shark wasn't at all responding to their noise. They surmised that if it was triggered by the sound they would have been long dead by now. A new argument was born, go back and not forward. The group of students was now torn into two, the others calling Joaquin a fraud and the others not trying to take any chances, they had told themselves that Jaoquin made these rules to confuse them. So if they didn't know which ones were jokes and which ones were real, they were going to follow all of them to a fault,
The humble group continued forward, while about four boys and one girl started heading back. They passed by Joaquin and a blonde-haired boy with glasses and freckles spit on Joaquin's lab coat while calling him a fake. Ains growled at him but he laughed hysterically at her. He marched forward and even jogged on the water.
A few centimeters away they decided that this was tiresome and they were going to run. Joaquin yelled at them saying it was not a great idea and they will have the rest of their lives to regret it. No, they didn't listen, confident in his survival the glasses boy turned around to face Joaquin and make faces at him while jogging in reverse.
Joaquin lowered his head and whispered, "so sad." The boy in glasses tripped and fell into the water with his bum, it splashed and from the droplets suspended in the air giant great white spears emerged and pierced through his face, through and abdomen. Before he even bled out properly he disappeared from the surface.
As the water swiftly swallowed him his sprayed out and was left suspended in the air. After finally taking all of these events in, just a split second after they happened the girl screamed and activated her binary ability.
The water grew violent as it was unable to absorb energy because of the shark's presence at the top. Despite this fact the water still tried and ended up upsetting itself, it splashed into the air and the shark's teeth emerged from it to reduce the girl into sheets of meat. With now having absorbed enough blood the shark manifested itself into a tiny blood creature holding a pale white spear.
It was a sacrificial version of a normal goblin, only difference was that it possessed the level and abilities of the owners of the blood. This was why these goblin sharks lived and hunted on their own, they were basically one fish armies.
One of the three remaining aways sped forward into the dense forest, completely neglecting the fact that splashing the water would summon spears into his body. Regardless, he ran, droplets flew, but no spears came out. He smiled and laughed like a madman as he neared his destination. His body started to numb, he couldn't feel his legs anymore and he was running even faster than before.
He looked down and found the lower half of his body swallowed up by the shark. He saw the bony, rigid-looking chomper and the sweat on his face felt like there was no tomorrow. He screamed but it was swallowed up by the water.
His blood flew to the puppet and it grew taller and more menacing. The water shook and slowly stilled itself as the goblin puppet exchanged glares with Joaquin. The remaining two boys were standing on two opposite sides of the blood puppet.
Their breathing was rapid and violent, their hearts were almost audible, behind Joquin stood the other students watching in horror. Others ignored the carnage and mounted the island, safe from the threat of the shark.
The Idol Prince Wang refused to get on the island before he knew that everyone was safe, he hopelessly some students and brought them to the island. Some cooperated and the others just smacked him away. He called out and tried his very best to warn them few listened while others just watched in terror.
They spoke of fear and they spoke of disgust while slowly backing away from the tiny goblin thing. It shot the two remaining guys hungry looks and licked its lips, finally it chuckled and fear crawled into their hearts even much faster and crueler. Reminding them of what it was capable of.
"Ah, ah, ahhhhhh!" They screamed and took off, this time not towards the dense trees but towards Joaquin and the others. They screamed, scrambled, and ran away widely. But Joaquin and Ains stood still.
Finally one of the guys removed his foot from the water and it splashed, the blood puppet made its move and threw the spear into the water. It came up from underneath the runaway kid and impaled him from below and escaped from his throat. All his movement stopped and he fell into the water like a log.
The other one closed his eyes and braced himself, forward, all the students had made their way to the island and only the Idol Prince was left. He carefully made his way forward towards Joaquin.
"ALDER, ALDER, ALDER!" He called as he nervously made his way forward. He finally reached Joaquin. He grabbed hold onto his lab coat, Joaquin turned to look down at the Idol Prince's worried face.
He frowned, and softly cursed, "shit" just as the kid who ran by wildly tripped and splashed water everywhere.
