Chapter 1 - Chapter I: Prologue of Birth

Everyone is gifted with a certain power. These powers are known as Stars. An unknown event took place many years ago: the falling of Stars. How come I'm the only one to obtain something so useless?

*Remember this. A world will never allow you to succeed; it'll only shine upon your downfall. Everyone and everything will despise each action you think is correct. A choice to make that you think is right, it's wrong. You are wrong; you are something that should've never been brought into this world. A world I created. You will fail and only falter. A fool blindsided by love, dignity, and obsession. You want to feel alive. Are you alive? Give up on your dream. Or fight trying to save it. *

A boy with half black hair on the right side of his head, splitting from the middle, and the other half pure white. He stood motionless near the edge of a towering building in Tokyo. The dead wind whispered throughout the empty city that once used to be filled, brushing against his face as if it tried to pull him into quiet despair. The eeriness of everything being empty, or so it felt that way. There wasn't anyone around; were they off fighting or hiding somewhere, praying for their safety? Will their Stars be enough to save them? Are there even enough Stars for people to be saved? Questions, no answers. Where did the top Rankers go? or are they already down there fighting? Or have they fallen?

The boy spoke in such a deep, empty tone, sounding like he had been holding onto a tiny thread of life detached from the world around him.

"Where were you, so-called 'Top Rankers' when I needed you? Pathetic. Is it worth my time to help you again, or is there anyone to save? For all I know, it could just be someone going rogue and no one to stop him. Like how I needed you to help them."

He smiled.

"Watching isn't bad either. Why bother helping someone who never returned the favor."

His eyes gazed down upon the unsightly events that occurred before him. Buildings began to tumble to the ground, curious if people were scurrying around like ants running from their inevitable death. A figure far in the distance, where chaos withstood, cradled a small building and threw it at whatever it was fighting, only for part of that building to be blocked by a flash of mysterious powers and ice that shot rising high in the sky.

"Hm."

Something caught his attention. A small hole blasted open from the rooftop of a building just a few feet shorter than the one he stood on, and the sound of crumbling concrete rattled from the debris; a figure emerged.

The man wore an old, worn-out brown jacket, the fabric fraying at the edges, his black pants weathered by time and countless battles. His black boots thudded softly as he landed, and the air around him crackled with faint tension. But his mask caught the boy's gaze, a sleek and featureless design with two small canisters on each side where his cheeks would be, connected by thin wires that snaked down his arms. The wires glinted faintly in the dying light. A disruption in the calm, a shift that could either bring hope or further destruction. The figure didn't move toward him yet, but he stood there, waiting—perhaps for something, perhaps for nothing

A soft, delicate, small, pale hand grasped the boy's hand, wrapping her fingers around his and gripping it tightly.

"Sorry, Anko, did he wake you."

She nodded her head in response.

The boy spoke only loud enough for the man down there to hear him.

"I advise you to leave and take your business to

where all the other commotion is; I'm not in a good mood after loosing the only

people, I cared about. Consider this a warning."

The guy with the mask yelled at the boy in a muffled, raspy tone.

"You Asshole, who do you think I am! All High-Rankers fear me; I am one of the deadliest people who carry an overpowered Star! I'll kill you and take care of her! Just like how my boss did with your little bitches, or are you so scared we might do the same to her? Run away and hope I can't catch you!"

The boy's body lit up, radiating an ominous purple and black aura. His hair flew up, losing its white color and becoming mono-black. His right eye changed colors, and a symbol transfigured his pupil. Jumping off the roof while firmly holding the girl's hand, he fell towards the guy. Vanishing and reappearing in an instant, he was greeted face-to-face. With his left hand, he grasped the mask, and before the individual could respond, he clenched. The man's skull ruptured, and chunks mixed with blood spilled over his worn-out clothes.

His body stopped glowing, and the energy around him disappeared, returning to normal. Lifting her, he jumped back to the roof they originally were on. The sheer force dismantled the ground underneath, causing that guy's body to fall into the sinking building.

*Sigh.*

This world is what happened. The revival. More than one will come for you. Endlessly hunting, thirsting for what you have.

Act 1: Birth

"..."

"...."

"Shizu, wake up!"

"Taku...? What are you doing up here?"

"Obviously, I was looking for you; I should've known you would camp out on the roof. Anyway, it's about to start, the day we become Rankers! Hurry up and head to the assembly room I'll be waiting for you down there!"

"Wait-"

Like that, Taku had already rushed to the assembly room to receive his rank. More importantly, some things were on his mind, and he thought about who that boy was in his dream.

"What was that all about? I seriously have to stop letting Taku make me watch those movies."
