Yvonne's feet stopped as she stared at the man who was sitting on the couch looking regal and majestic even though he was doing absolutely nothing.
Bright blonde hair combed to the side with a long straight nose and soft pink lips.
Those were the features she could notice because his side profile was the only thing visible to her from her position.
'So that's the legendary second male lead of this story? The faithful follower and well-wisher of Hilda, the female lead?' She guesses with her brows raised.
The man sipped his tea with leisure and had yet to look up at the woman who had entered the room.
'What an arrogant man!' Yvonne huffed in anger and then took a step forward.
Hearing her get closer, the man looked up at Yvonne causing her to freeze in her place.
The emerald green eyes that shone brighter than any precious gem that she had seen was mesmerizing enough to trap Yvonne in them.
"So you finally decided to leave your room?" His sarcastic voice broke the trap that she was falling into.
'I don't even know what part of the story I am in? How should I answer him?' She wondered and tried to open her mouth but couldn't.
Draco Roschester finally set the teacup aside and glanced at her from top to bottom.
There was a deep frown on his face when he saw the color of her gown.
Thinking of the sorry figure from yesterday, his eyes darkened and he glared at her.
"She isn't dead yet and you are wearing black to mourn for her?" He scoffed at her and shook his head.
Yvonne was not paying any attention to what he was saying because she had been trying to move her feet but no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't move an inch of her body.
Noticing her silence, Draco frowned and waited for her to speak in her defense.
"Did you hear what I just said? Why are you still standing there?" He gritted his teeth when he saw her blank face as though she did not put him in her eyes.
'I'm trying here!' She yelled out but there was no voice that was heard.
'What is happening to me?' Yvonne closed her eyes and took a deep breath to understand what was wrong with her body.
Trying her luck once again, she took a step forward and succeeded in moving herself this time.
"My Lord, it was not my fault that Lady Hilda had to experience that unfortunate incident." A soft and submissive voice emerged from her throat.
Yvonne was stunned when her lips moved on their own and she uttered the words that she was sure she would never say in this lifetime.
'Lord? Why would I call him that and what am I even saying?' She sneered at herself and groaned in anger.
Her body was now moving forward even without her volition and it seemed that she had no power over herself at the moment.
Coming to a halt, she stood before the man who stared at her with harsh eyes and looked at her as though he was waiting for her to explain herself.
"Glenny just wanted to meet Prince Fritzen and asked me to invite Lady Hilda for tea. I had no other intentions." There was a slight quiver in her voice as though she was choking on something.
Yvonne was trying her hardest to stop herself but her body seemed as though it was possessed by someone else and she had no control over it.
'You are the one possessing this body.'
An eerily voice spoke right into her ear which spooked her endlessly.
The same creepy voice that she had heard back when she was in little Yvonne's body made the hair on her arms stand.
'Sit back and watch what will happen when you do not heed my words.'
Once again the soft yet terrifying voice was heard in her brain this time followed by a bitter chuckle.
Her body was moving on autopilot and there was nothing she could do about it.
It felt as though she was just watching a show through this body's eyes.
'Witness the doom that awaits~'
The ominous words ended when Draco sat up straight.
"You know that she is the Crown princess candidate and yet you tried to harm her? Have my warnings not reached your brain yet?" Draco sneered at her with a deriding expression on his face.
Yvonne felt her body flinch when she heard the harsh words that were directed at her.
"I thought that our marriage would change you and make you forget about Frit… But it seems that I was wrong." He sighed in exasperation while giving her a look of disappointment.
Her body shook its head to deny the words she heard but stopped when she heard his scornful chuckle.
By now Yvonne had understood something, something that was vital to know about what was happening to her.
'Those words were written in the script! The incident where Hilda faints in the Grand Duke's household and indirectly causes a storm in the Palace!' She exclaimed in her mind.
This was because even if she wanted to speak out loud, the words would just not spill out of her mouth.
Connecting the dots from the information she heard from Draco and from the voice in her ear, she was now aware of where exactly she was in the storyline.
'My body has already married this scum and now I seem to have been an accomplice to the crime that seals my fate.' She lamented but did not have time to think more about this because her attention was now on the man sitting before her.
"Lady Yvonne, I tried to plead for your case but Fritzen has already given the orders." Draco's eyes flashed with a look of despair for just a second before it vanished.
'He calls his wife as 'Lady'?' Yvonne mocked but ceased when she heard the angry snarl coming from inside her head.
"You will stay inside with no visitors until you learn your lesson." He commanded with a stern voice and stood up.
Yvonne could feel her shoulders tremble and tears well up in her eyes but they refused to fall.
"What about Glenny?" The delicate voice whispered and then she bit her lips.
Draco's feet halted and he looked at her incredulously.
"You may have to live your entire life locked inside and what you care about is that woman who drags you into all the mess she creates!?" He bellowed in a loud voice.
Yvonne's body trembled in fear and she took a step away from the furious man.
"Her punishment is yet to be decided but it would be better if you focus on your punishment and your husband rather than on something or someone else." He scoffed at her and turned to walk away.
"What about you?" She could hear the pain in those words that left her mouth.
Draco froze for a second before he turned back to face her.
He stood waiting to hear what she might say next and heard her whisper after a few seconds.
"What about you? Have you thought about your wife?" The word 'wife' felt like thorns piercing her ears and her heart.
Draco seemed to be stunned when he heard the rebellious words that he had heard from his wife for the first time since they were married.
"Did you ever consider me to be your wife when you ran towards another woman every time something happened to her?" She looked up at him with a fierce glare.
"Did you bother to think of how I would feel when the women in society asked Lady Hilda how you are because you spend more time with her than you do with me?" She took a step forward and questioned him what had been hidden in her heart.
"Did you wonder how I felt when yesterday you stormed into the room and accused me of poisoning Lady Hilda when in fact she ate nothing from the moment she stepped inside this house?" Her voice grew louder as the tears streamed down her cheeks.
"Why would you think of me when you have someone else inside your heart?" She mockingly smiled at him and then looked away.
This question was for her own self, for the mistake she made when she agreed to this marriage which was nothing but a sham.
Draco stood frozen in place when he heard all the questions that were directed at him.
Regaining his senses, he took a step closer and held onto her shoulders to steady her frail and trembling body.
"Yvonne..." His voice was mild and patient as though he was speaking to his beloved.
Yvonne's heart felt like it was overflowing with joy when she heard the tone of his voice as he uttered her name.
But that joy did not last for long.
The two figures standing close together turned in the direction of the door when they heard a knock on it.
"My Lord, we've received word that Lady Hilda has gained consciousness." The butler's voice was heard from outside the door.
Yvonne looked at the hands which were still on her shoulders when she felt him squeeze them tight.
Draco then let go of her and took a step away while looking at her with apologetic eyes.
"I need to leave." He spoke with a certain resolution that brought the tears back in her eyes.
Yvonne watched as the man who was supposed to be her husband, rushed to seek another woman right before her eyes.
Reaching the door, he turned back and gazed at the figure who was staring at him.
"I will be back soon." He promised and then left without waiting for her reply.
Yvonne's feet gave out the moment he was gone and she slumped to the floor.
'He doesn't come back soon.' The voice once again laughed while revealing this truth to the woman who wept bitterly as she sat on the cold floor.
