Chereads / The Adventure / Chapter 5 - My boy, Seven

Chapter 5 - My boy, Seven

He woke up dizzy in a metal cage, around him there was multiple metal cages with teenagers in them. "Whats happening" Seven thought. The last thing he remembered was someone chasing him into a dead end, and then he had gotten attacked by someone else. A black hooded man.

His started hyperventilating, had he been returned to his master, "not the whip, please" he muttured. He got into a fetal position and cried out "not the whip" loud enough for the rest to hear, he begged for mercy to the air. All the others in the cages spared him a glance, "what the fuck" they thought.

He had calmed down, the sudden pain he would feel on his back didn't come. His eyes swayed upwards, he looked up, left, then right. When he saw the countless unrecognizable faces he relaxed. This wasn't the hell he thought it was, it was a completely different type of hell.

He exited the fetal position, his head hung low. Straightening his back felt uncomfortable, it went against his nature to have a straight back, ever since Seven was a child he'd been enslaved and beaten. Pride wasn't something he had in him.

"At least I'm not in hell" he thought, "but it could always get worse!" he chuckled to himself, a nervous chuckle. Now, everyone around him thought him to be delirious, which he was to a certain degree, a high degree.

The metal doors attached to the cages all opened at the same time. A bright light lit up at the edge of the room. It was the only place with a hallway, a continuation of sorts. Naturally the people in the cages started moving towards that direction.

The hall they travelled through was filled with darkness, Seven could only see one meter ahead of him before his sight faded into darkness. He followed the person in front of him, who followed the other person in front of him. The person in the front simply continued forward, that was the only path afterall.

They eventually entered a room, the room was more brightly lit, there was a balcony high up in the room, on it stood an impatient man. They ended up forming a round group in front of the balcony and waited silently.

"Welcome", The man said, "Excuse me…" he said, "Fuck. I've been around nobles for far too long", he muttured, " I need to drop the manners with scum like you." He let out a snort, "We have been searching for a champion, for the next tournament. One of you is going to fill that roll, yes. One. To put it simply, you are going to have to kill each and every single person around you!" followed by a nervous chuckle.

"I know you are excited to do so, but sadly, not yet. From now on, each Sunday you will enter a duel to the death. Every other day you will train, we have provided you with the most. Graceful. Trainers."

The man turned his back and walked away, simultaneously a large double door opened behind them. Seven glanced at the people around him, more or less, 40 people. He got slightly afraid, the people around him towered above him and they were all muscular. Their clothes looked ragged, he even spotted another one with a metal ring around her neck, "she looks a lot tougher than me".

They travelled towards the double doors, and entered another hall. This one was brightly lit and a lot bigger, there were signs with pictures on them. It was a good call on the capturers side, a lot of the captured couldn't read or write.

Some instantly left the group, others like Seven stayed inside of the naturally formed group. There wasn't much talking, each one had clearly heard what the person had told them. They would have to kill each other, mostly they scoured the competition. Not many eyes stayed on Seven. Eventually, they left each other and walked towards the pictures that resembled with them the most.

Seven was the last one standing, he had not the courage to walk a single direction, all his life he had been ordered to do something, he was waiting for an order. He looked at the pictures, a ball of magic floating above a hand, a dagger, a sword, a bow, a fist, multiple flying arrows, a monster.

Seven wasn't sure what weapon or area he wanted to go to, what suited him the most. Truthfully, there was nothing that suited him, he hadn't a personality, he never got the chance to get one.

He never fought back, nor did he grow a hate against his captors, he took their abuse at full heart. He became a gear in the system. A nervous, broken down, shell of a man, all his life he spent the points he got on luck. He had wished his hardest to be broken free from the chains, and one day that opportunity came.

Making a decision had proven harder than ever, so he didn't. He closed his eyes and spun around, until he lost his bearing, then he spun some more. When he opened his eyes, the monster sign was in front of him. He ended up walking towards it.

He forgot that he was still nauseated from spinning around and ended up tripping face-first. When his head hit the floor he felt even more dizzy, but then he saw something in the middle of his sight.

'level up'

'The god of pain has noticed you'

'Pain resilience has levelled up'

"Stats", he muttered out of habit, but then he noticed the oddity. "Is someone playing a prank on me", "god, what a joke". His entire life had been hell, he gave away his belief in gods a long time ago. He gave away faith a long time ago.

He put his point into luck like he'd always done, putting the total up to 15. Then his eyes turned to the other oddity, "class selection?" His eyes peered down on it and a new window opened up.

He then took turns to read through what the classes do. He was left with a choice. Another grueling choice, he already felt exhausted from the last half choice. He felt a sense of nihilism, and a dose of dread." Most likely, I die, so who cares", he thought, he ended up choosing the first one on the list. Sparing him the pain of having to think through everything.

But.

Before he did that, he read through what the class entailed one more time.

--

A spirit tamer is a class that specifies in catching and then abusing the spirit's power.

A wild spirit tamer is similar but they do not catch the spirits. They leave their bodies open for a spirit to infest themselves in. This happens whenever, and wherever. If your strength is stronger than a spirit, then you have the ability to resist them, however, if the spirit is much stronger than the wild spirit tamer, his body will be taken over.

The spirits a wild spirit tamer attracts will naturally be of a higher tier.

Preferably high luck, and strength
