Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Demon

Caleb's POV:

I stared up at the ceiling. I listened to my music. It was Apeshit by The Carters. They both were spitting hard bars on the song. I looked out the window and saw a red cardinal. I got up and walked over to my dresser. I pulled out a notepad and a pencil. I sat down on the bed and began to sketch the cardinal. I loved drawing. I loved creating art. It was my passion. Drawing art gives me peace.

I looked up at the bird and found its staring at me. Then it flew away. I scoffed and watched it fly away into the woods. I looked up at the sun. I was up early. I looked at the time on my phone. It was nine o clock in the morning. I woke up to the sound of my parents fucking. That's why I have my earbuds in, blasting my music. I did NOT want to hear that. I got up and walked out the door. I walked down the halls and looked around.

Ever since we moved into this house, my parents put up their weird paintings. It could be because I took art classes all my life and it's my artistic side of me talking, but none of my parents paintings compared to my sketches. I looked at one painting that my parents absolutely loved. It was a painting of me when I was a baby. I appreciate the fact that wanted to draw me but I hated it. The colors, the outline of me, everything was just awful.

But if my parents asked, I would say that I like it. Plus, I feel uncomfortable about the painting. Back then, I was a little tyke. I had no knowledge of life and what it was about. But now I know. I looked at my wings as I passed by a closed window. I looked at my reflection. I looked at the painting then at my wings. Growing up, I had bland wings. Now that I've had my Evaluation, I have demon wings. I put on a devilish smile.

Most people would flip their shit if they didn't get angel wings. Not me. I know the Evaluation is based off of our personalities, but even as a baby, I knew I was gonna have demon wings. I knew what type of person I am and what my personality is made up of. My parents don't have angel wings either and it doesn't bother them, just like it doesn't bother me that I didn't have Angel wings. Like I said, even at a young age I knew what I was gonna be.

I'm me and that's all I can ever be. I looked at the painting one more time before looking at my wings.

I walked down the hall, downstairs, and towards the kitchen. I looked at my phone and skipped some songs to get to my favorite song. It was Free Crack 4 by Lil Bibby. It was the intro one. I sang along to it. "If it's bout money, you know I get plenty. I ride with the semi. I die with it with me." I rapped. "Caleb?" Someone called. I turned my head to see my Dad. "What?" I asked. "Your up." He said.

"So are you." I said. That sentence had two meanings. I knew he was up early in the morning and he was also up 'down there'. Dad chuckled. "Yeah I am. I mean how come your up so early?" He asked. I looked at him. "You know why. I woke up to certain 'sounds' coming from your bedroom and now I'm up." I said, as I slammed the fridge door close. I walked off towards the living room.

Dad followed me. "Sorry bout that. If we hadn't did that, you wouldn't be here right now." He said. "I'd welcome that." I said, without looking at him. He laughed. "You truly are my son. A smart mouth, piece of shit." He said. "Wonder where I get it from." I said. He laughed harder. "Well I'm out. Oh, while you're up, how bout take out the trash?" He said. Now it was my turn to laugh. "Yeah right." I said. "I wasn't asking Caleb." He said.

I turned my head and looked at him. He was serious. I sighed. "Fine." I said. I stood up and walked over to the kitchen. I took the trash out and replaced the trash bag. I walked upstairs to my room and saw my Mom sitting on my bed in a bathrobe. "No!!" I said. She looked at me. "What?" She asked. "You're sitting on my bed in a bathrobe." I said. "So?" She said. "So it's gonna smell like-" I paused. "Smell like what? Sex? Oh well. I bought these damn sheets." She said, smirking.

I rolled my eyes and sat down beside her. "Oh I meant to tell you. Loren called yesterday." She said. "And?" I said. "She wants you to call her back." She said. "Oh my God. Why can't she go shopping or something rather than bother me?" I said. She laughed. "Then why do you fuck with her?" She asked. "I don't know." I said. She got up and walked out the door. "Also, tell her I said to stop blowing up my house phone. Just because you blocked her on your phone don't mean she can call my house phone." She said, before leaving.

I walked out the room and down the hall. I reached in my pocket and grabbed my phone. I walked out the door and downstairs. I pulled out my phone and unlocked my girlfriend, Loren. She wasn't my girlfriend. We were in a friends with benefits relationship. I know she fucks other dudes and she knows I fuck other bitches.

Even though me and Loren aren't together, she's does ride for me. There was this one time I got into a fight at the store and Loren fought a bitch who tried to fight me because swung on her boyfriend. It was a petty fight. I took the last bag of Takis and he got mad because I wouldn't give it up. I looked at my phone and called Loren. She answered after the first two rings. "Oh now you call me back?" She asked. "Don't start that shit. You pissed me off." I said.

She scoffed. "Caleb I didn't mean anything by it. Now chill the fuck out." She said. I rolled my eyes. "Whatever." I said. "So what are you doing right now?" She asked, curiously. "Caleb?" Dad called. I looked at him. "Come on. I wanna show you the pool." He said. "Okay!! Right now I'm about to go see what the pool looks like now." I said. "Oh it's done being remodeled?" Loren asked. "Yep." I said, as I followed my Dad.

We walked around the side of the house. "Wait until you see the pool son. I also had it painted while you were at Kyle's house for the weekend. You didn't get to see it yesterday because you came late." He said. I looked at the house. "I hope it looks great." I said. He took me to the back yard and I gasped. So what do you think of the pool?" He asked. "This is dope." I said, looking at it.

"Loren you are have to come by and see our new pool. It's a freaking waterfall. Literally!!" I exclaimed happily. "Send me a pic!!" She cried. I took a picture of the pool and sent it to her. She squealed. "OMG that look incredible. Dad!!! I have an idea of a present that you can give me for my birthday!! I gotta go Caleb." She said. Then she hung up. I looked at Dad. He stared at me. "What?" I asked.

"You still talking to that girl?" He asked. "Dad don't start. And for the last time, she is not my girlfriend." I said. "Well y'all still fucking." He said. I stared at him. "Yeah I know and so does your mother. We hear what you two be doing." He said. "And I be hearing what you two be doing. So I guess we both good hearing." I said. He scoffed and shook his head. He walked over towards the house. I followed him.

"Dad understand something. Me and Loren-" he cut me off by getting in my face. "Ní thuigeann tú rud éigin. Ná habair rud éigin cosúil liomsa arís. Ní gá dom aon rud a thuiscint, tuigeann tú mé. Sin mar a théann sé. Is mise an tuismitheoir, is tusa an leanbh. Fan sa lána sin (No you understand something. Don't ever say something like to me again. I don't need to understand anything, you understand me. That's how it goes. I'm the parent, you're the child. Stay in that lane)." He said.

Uh oh. I knew my Dad was pissed when he starts speaking Irish. Coming from an Irish family is fun and all, but once you're in trouble, it's over. "Second, I don't care what you and Loren are. She can be a robot for all I care. I don't care what y'all do together, as long as she doesn't get pregnant." Dad continued. I stared at him. "Caleb I don't like her and I certainly don't want her part of this family." He said, then he walked upstairs.

I just stood there. I shook my head and heard my phone ping. I looked down at it. It was text from my best friend, Kyle. I called him. "Yo?" I said. "Hey man. Me and Ramón out here. You gon let us in or what?" He asked. "Yeah hang on." I said. I headed over to the front door. I opened it and seen guards all checking Kyle and Ramón in the system. They were patting them both down. I walked over to them. "Hey guys." I said.

They looked up at me. "Hey Caleb." Kyle said. "Honestly do we have to go through with this every time we come to your house? We've been coming here since we were six years old." Ramón said. "Sorry guys. Dad's orders." I said. After our guards were done checking them in the system, me and the guys walked inside the house.

We walked to the living room. "Hey Caleb you good?" Ramón alder. "Yeah....actually no." I said. "What's up" Kyle asked. "My Dad." I said. "Uh oh. What he do now?" Ramón asked, curiously. We walked over near the kitchen. I touched the bookcase. I felt for the secret keypad. I inputted the code and the door opened. It opened and we walked in. I slammed the door shut.

We sat down on one of the couches. "He talked shit about Loren." I said. "Okay and?" Kyle said. He began to laugh. Ramón joined him. "Yeah man. Who gives a fuck?" Ramón said. I glared at them. "Obviously I do if I'm telling y'all about it." I said. Ramón smacked his teeth. "Man Caleb shut the fuck up. Loren is a hoe. Period. You know many dudes she fucked since y'all broke up?" He said.

"Yeah Caleb you really trippin for no reason." Kyle said. I blew a breath. "Maybe you guys are right."'I said. "We know. So guess what? My little brother and sister went to their first sleepover and they both fucked it up." Kyle said. "How did the twins fuck it up?" I asked. Kyle smirked. "They both threw up." He said. "How? What happened?" Ramón asked. "They both ate my funnel cakes so I sprayed their pillows with my power." Kyle said.

I laughed. "Oh my God Kyle." Ramón said. "I warned them. Besides you know they bad as hell. They always pulling pranks on me but because I'm the oldest, I'm not allowed to mess with them. Fuck outta here." He said. "But you know you could've killed them." I said. He shrugged. That was one thing about Kyle that made us so close. He nor Ramón was afraid to mess with their siblings.

They both were just like me, they were demons. They had demon wings. Kyle's power is incredible. He can create clouds of smoke to choke or poison people. If the smoke is black, he can choke you. If the cloud is purple, he can poison you. How much smoke he lets out is key though. Ramón on the other hand had a neat power. He can paralyze people by touching them.

They both were insane and I loved it. "So Caleb what about you?" Ramón asked, curiously. "What about me?" I asked. "Like what about you? You're the only one of us who doesn't have siblings. What would you do if your parents decide to have another kid?" He asked. I thought about that then smirked. "They won't last long, especially with our lifestyle." I said. They both knew what I meant when said 'lifestyle'.

I was in the Mafia and so were they. They were part of my Dad's Mafia and so were their families. My parents wouldn't let them over here if they didn't be part of our Mafia. Dad didn't wanna take no chances with someone finding out about us. We had lots of enemies. It's one of the reasons my parents didn't hav another kid. They didn't even want me. They told me that they avoided having kids because they didn't want enemies to target them.

They used condoms, birth control, morning after pills, everything they could to avoid having kids. But my parents decided to go to Paris for their second honeymoon. They did the dirty deed and nine months later, I was born. In my opinion, they were stupid. Why go to Paris, the number one city of love, and be surprised that you're gonna have baby? But I'm here so whatever.

"Hey guys. Come on. I meant to show you our armory." I said, standing up. We got up and walked out another door. We went down some stairs and down to the basement. I felt up on the wall and found the secret keypad. I inputted the code and the door opened. We walked into the armory and looked around. "Wow. Wait where the guns?" Ramón asked, looking around. "We haven't put them up yet." I said, looking around.

I whistled and had the guards to start putting the racks and shelves up. We watched them work and put the guns up. "The armory is huge." Kyle said. I nodded. "Yep. Dad paid extra to have this built underground." I said. "I sure did." Someone said. We looked over the railing and saw my Dad come out from a room. He looked up at me. "Tar liom Caleb (Come with me Caleb)." He said. Uh oh. I walked down the stairs and followed my Dad yo his den.

He sat down behind his desk and stared at me. "Caleb I didn't appreciate how you talked to me earlier." He said. "I know. I picked up on that earlier."'I said, as I laid down on the couch. He pointed at me. "See? I can tolerate shit like that but when you start to talk to me like you're grown, that's when I have to fuck you up." He said. I scoffed. "Dad you know I respect you and I don't talk to you like I'm grown. But I don't like when I'm being disrespected." I said.

"Since when does a child get to disrespect their parents?" He asked. I didn't say anything. "Exactly. Know your place." He said. I rolled my eyes. "Now." He began. He got up and walked to the door. He called Kyle and Ramón and had them come in the office. They sat down on the couch opposite of me. "Look, I have something very important for you boys." Dad said. "Like what?" Kyle asked. "Dad opened his mouth but there was a knock on the door.

"Enter." Dad said. A guard opened the door and stood there. "Don, Loren is here." He said. Everyone looked at me. "She can wait." I said. "No son. Go talk to her. We'll wait." Dad said. We all got up and walked out the door. We walked over to the stairs and walked back upstairs and to the living room. There were guards everywhere. We walked to the front door and opened it. We saw Loren with a bunch of guards at the front gate. We walked over to them. "Caleb!" Loren called. "What are you doing here?" I asked.

"I wanna talk to you. Plus I wanted to see the pool on person." She said. "Pool? Oh so y'all done with the remodeling?" Ramón asked. ""Not now Ramón. Loren I'm in the middle of something. You gotta come back later on." I said. She frowned at me. "Oh come on. You blew me off all day yesterday. Then you called me earlier and were so eager to talk to me, and now you're blowing me off again?" She said. I glared at her. "Look either you come back later or don't come back at all." I said, harshly.

She stared at me with a sad look on her face. "Fine Caleb. I'll come back later." She said, sadly. She turned around and walked away. "No. Loren talk to Caleb. I need to get some stuff done anyways. Kyle, Ramón, come with me." Dad said. The three of them walked away towards the house. I looked at Loren. "Come on." I said. "I need my purse." She said. A guard handed her her purse and she snatched it away. We walked away. Wow. You guys painted your house." She said. I looked at the house as we walked to the court yard.

"Yeah. We needed to get rid of the depressing, old color." I said. I looked at her. "What are you looking at?" She asked. "What, I can't look at you?" I asked. "Unless you're tryna fuck, no." She said. I scoffed. "Not in the mood." I said. "Of course not." She muttered. "Say what?" I asked. "Nothing. Look how come every time I come here, those guards have to take away my stuff and check everything?" She asked. I sighed. "I don't know if you heard of security protocols." I said. She glared at me.

"Well come I'm not in the system like Kyle and Ramón?" She asked. "Kyle and Ramón come over here way more often than you. And because my Mom doesn't like you." I said. "Of course she doesn't." She muttered. I wanted to smack her so badly. "Also she doesn't want you to get too comfortable here. She knows you took her necklace." I said. "I gave it back." She said. "You still shouldn't have taken it. It wasn't yours." I said.

"Oh my God Caleb. I gave the shit back." She said. I looked at her. "Know what? Get the fuck out. Bye. Go home." I said. "Caleb-" I cut her off. "Bye Loren!" I said. She walked closer to me. I already knew what she was about to do so I moved away from her. Loren was also a demon. She had a unique power. She could control people and make them do whatever she wants just by touching them. She wasn't about to do that to me. Not again. She's done that way too many times.

She once got into an argument with Kyle and told me to shoot him. Of course I denied it because I wasn't about to shoot my best friend. Plus, the argument had nothing to do with me. So Loren touched me and forced me to shoot him in his stomach. She also made me kill him by making me shoot him in the head. A tiny part of me resisted and I managed to shoot him in his stomach. But Loren has gotten more powerful over the years. She made me shoot a girl in the head after she got an A on a project she and Loren both did.

But in her defense, the girl did get all the credit for Loren's half of the project. But still. It wasn't worth shooting that girl and ending her life. "Look Loren, either you leave with your own two legs or I'll have security come blow your legs off and you'll leave in either am ambulance or coffin." I said. She glared at me before turning around and leaving out the gate. I watched her. Even though me and Loren are cool, there are times where she just pisses me off.

I stormed off towards the house. I managed to find Kyle, Ramón, and my Dad in the basement. There was some guy they were torturing. I recognized him. He stole my Dad's money. I looked at Dad. "Ah Caleb. Perfect timing. I was just about to show my friend here our new toy. The Brasen Bull. I've head about people using it back the medieval times to punish those with evil crimes. It's our new torture device: The Brasen Bull. I just bought it." Dad said. He looked at the guy.

"Now how would you like to die: spikes or fire?" He asked. The guy shook his head quickly. "No isn't an option." Dad said. The man spoke but his voice was muffled by the gag. "I think he said he said he want fire." Kyle said. I looked at him and smiled. "I heard the same thing." I said. "Me too. We all got good hearing." Ramón said. "We sure do Ramón. I heard fire. Let's cook him." Dad said. He motioned to three guards. They moved over a large, bronze metal bull.

They put the man inside. They began to chuck coal inside and drenched the man in lighter fluid. They shut the door as he begged for mercy. Dad looked at me. "Here son. You do the honors." He said. I smiled a devilish grin. I lit a match and threw it into the bull's head. Then the bull's nose exhaled smoke. We heard the man scream as he was burned alive. The screams cut off shortly after. I looked at Dad. "You know something Dad." I said. He looked at me.

"We may have our moments where we have disagreements, but I love this father-son moments." I said. He nodded. "Me too son. Come on boys. Hailey's cooked salmon for dinner." He said. We all cheered and ran upstairs to eat. Shortly after, the guys went home. I took a shower, climbed in bed, and drifted off to sleep.
