Valencia blinked looking down towards the boy in unadulterated suprise. The elders? To see her? Thats not good.
"What do you mean they want to see me?" She asked, the two men standing behind her that once were fighting looked towards them, wide eyed and alot more fearful for their leader.
"They didnt tell me why, they just need you now and presently." He told her again, taking off to send a message elsewhere unknown to her. Her stomach didnt grumble in hunger this time, now it yowled in nervousness. What happened to cause them to want her so urgently? With eyebrows furrowing and a frown forming on her lips as she delved deeper into the midst of her own mind, she walked towards the building she needed to go, a structure made entirely out of obsidian rock. Smoothed with the most delicate of hands, creating an elegant building cloaked in the darkness. To the right of it there was a pool of lava, as refreshing looking as ever.
With each step, the nervousness within her stomach pulled at her with an increasing intensesity as she continued her journey. Sadly to her, it wasn't long before she made it to the largely carved door. Heading directly into the meeting room where the elders were grouped together. The sounds of their whispers drifted outside, but not as to what they were saying. It sounded like gibberish, things she couldnt comprehend from that distance.
With a deep inhale, she gripped the door handle with her sweaty palm. Pushing it open with her shoulder it revealed the six different elders sitting upon the dark wooden table. With her father sitting near them, looking entirely stressed out. The elders jerked their heads up to gaze upon the warrior, sitting up a little straighter. Adjusting their leather cloaks, the tattoos on their hands practically glowing in the golden light on the walls around them. Casting across their faces, casting shadows across the floor that only increased her anxiety. Normally she wouldn't have been so scared of people, but this was a rare occurance. Never did any of the elders come down, and now they come down wanting to talk to her in particular. She couldn't help but scan her memory of every single thing she could have possibly done wrong in her life.
"Valencia, Come stand before us." The leader of the elders spoke, his voice a thundering throughout the room. With a sharp exhale she closed the door behind her, raising her head high to try and possibly forget the constant pounding in her ribcage. Stopping in front of the table, she crossed her arms finding any way possible to hide her nervousness.
"What is it elders? Has something happened?" She asked bravely, surpised in herself that her voice didn't shake nor quiver.
"Valencia, we have taken notice of your bravery, your sacrifice for personal affairs while you teach other warriors in your village. Becoming more skilled than your father himself." The elders also lava-filled eyes never seemed to leave hers as he continued speaking, but they glowed a lot brighter than hers. Full of wisdom and all knowing. From personal living, to battle tactics.
The males in Aman, instead of hair like the women- possessed horns. Sticking out from their skull as if it were a helmet in itself. The elders being no exception. Though their horns were much bigger, more intimidating. Long times ago only men were allowed to be warriors, a sterotype Valencia particularly hated, but now here she is. A proud and happy warrior, ruthless in the way she faught standing in front of the elders. Being noticed by even them, it wasn't what she expected at all.
"We have called you here to discuss a matter that had greatly caught our attention a few nights ago. You are quite aware of the world between worlds correct? The place of time that sits between the Human, Fae, and our world?" Valencia tilted her head once more, becoming intrigued. She had heard of the world between worlds before. The keeper of time, a world in its own. Though, she has never gone there. It was abolished from even attempting to do so, the world of time was often quite protective. If there is any kind of threatening attempt towards the world itself, it will attack. Sending monsters practically impossible to kill to you.
"I'm not fond of it in a personal level, as i never have gone there. Remember it has been a law made by yourself never to go. So I have indeed heard of it, just dont know much about it." She responded as thoughtfully as she could.
The elder cleared is throat, causing her attention to go back towards him. Razor focused in listening to him, that was a signal if she knew one.
"The humans have found this world. A portal from in one of their continents, much like ours. There will be only a short time before they finally come through it to here. The elders want to situate you at the gate with the other men, with you being the most experienced in war they could use someone like you to guide them." Valencia's eyes flickered to the faces of the other elders, their blank faces as they listened to the leader speak. Not conveying any kind of emotion from what she could see.
"So you're saying there is a potential they would want to conquer here? As they tried to do thousands of years ago in their world?" She asked observingly.
"Excellent question, but that we have no answer to." He informed, "Incase that is so is why we are sending you out there with the other men on the front lines." Valencia's eyes finally made their way to her fathers, whom looked back with pride. Slowly blinking at her like a Volcanic Feline. Bowing his head at her gently, indicating she could continue asking questions if she needed to. This made her certain that they knew she would be asking quite a bit.
"Do the Fae know? Have they gotten in contact with you?" She asked, once more her eyes returned to look towards the face of the elder. Watching the light that swirled in his eyes dance interestingly.
"The fae is the ones who told us this information, as they watch the human world very closely. There are some that even lives in plain sight there and will come back to their own world to give them information. Though there was a time where humans wanted to exterminate magic. They called it- Witchcraft i believe." The elder continued, "Will you do this? If it becomes any worse we will send more soldiers there and if you do meet them, if at all, when they leave come right back here. We will be staying in your village while all of this is happening to have greater contact with you. If this will become a war we must be ready. Humans can be greedy creatures, wanting to just take and conquer for their own benefit." The elder finally finished. Valencia only had one final question she could think of at this moment, possibly more later when the time comes.
"How long will i be staying at the gate?" The elder looked towards the others, then directly at her father who nodded. Clearing his throat he forenamed, "Until the humans make it to our side. If thats not by the time the year ends then we will bring you back here to recollect information. Possibly anything strange you've seen." Valencia nodded in understanding, "Go pack your things, you will leave in the next few hours with a group of soldiers you have to bring up to the line. We have sent dozens ahead with a skilled person in the group each that has shown leadership skills. Everything should be set up once you arrive. Dismissed." He spoke with a simple hand gesture, sending her off to go pack what she wanted.
Leaving her with many thoughts she wanted to keep to herself, thinking of the potential journey and the future ahead of her.
