~~Rose's P.O.V~~
"I cant feel my legs anymore!" I whine to Laura once I've finished my six laps. Actually. . . I only did five, but nobody needs to know that. Hehe.
"Oh my gosh! I think Principal Andrews is talking about the formal to coach!" Laura squeals excitedly and I squeal along too.
It's dress shopping time! I honestly don't understand how a lot of girls hate shopping. I mean like, shopping is how I live, how I survive, how I breathe!
Okay, maybe that's too far...there are far more important things like world hunger and bringing world peace. But can you blame a hormonal squealy teen like me!?
"I hope Kyle asks me to prom." Laura says excitedly as she watches Kyle bouncing around with the ball with all the other boys. He plays it so professionally and when he throws the ball into the hoop, it almost looks as if he used precision and accuracy to get it in. Just who are you really Kyle?
"He will, don't worry." I assure her. Because I was going to make sure he does.
"Quiet you animals!" Coach roared, turning red. Everyone goes silent and gives coach Foster their full attention.
"Principal Andrews has an announcement to make. Anyone who as much dares to breathe and disturb him, will be running laps whilst picking up rubbish on the weekend. Understood!?" Coach yells as if we were all deaf.
We all nod and listen. The principal clears his throat and starts speaking. "As some of you are aware, prom is coming up in two weeks and we need students to sign up to decorate and help set up the gym so it looks more...formal." He says, glaring at the plainness of the gym. "Now, be aware that this is a formal event and casual clothing will not be permitted. Only students from this boarding school are allowed to attend so have your ID cards with you. No one is to bring alcohol or any sort of drink and if one of the security men suspect someone drunk, they will be polishing the toilets with a toothbrush." He threatens whilst people giggle immaturely. Coach stands behind the principal, doing the 'shut-up-or-I'll-slice-your-neck gesture.
"Photos upon entry will be taken and there will be NO students making out in every corner of the place AND especially no students going to other dorms that do not belong to them. This is NOT a romantic evening, just simply a fun and entertaining event. There will be dorm checks after the event is over, so don't even think about doing anything you foolish hormonal wild teens!" My father, the principal continues. Lets just say, daddy dearest isn't too fond of the way teenagers in today's society have become.
"Anyone who has any issues or problems with buying a new dress/tuxedo/suit, should come and see me. Thank you. Sign up sheets will be posted on the notice board outside the office." With that said, he leaves, walking away like he owns the place.
Well technically he does...
"You wanna help decorate and set up the gym?" Laura asks grabbing my hand and pulling me over to where the sign up sheets are. "Every year it doesn't even look like a proper formal prom. Such a disappointment, I can't even have nice pictures!" Laura complains as she continues to drag me to sign our names down.
"Yeah true, the previous seniors all do a lousy job and finding a pretty corner to take photos is like trying to find a tiny earring in the whole entire ocean!" I exaggerate, opening my arms wide to show her how big the ocean is.
Only . . . when I opened my arms, I accidentally ended up slapping someone. I turn around quickly to apologise. "Im soo sorry- Kyle? Wait. . . .WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING WITH MY BRA!?" I exclaim outraged as I furiously grab my bra and hide it under my shirt since my yelling has attracted the entire male population.
"It was hanging out of your sports bag." Kyle grins and wiggles his eyebrows. I only glare back with a look of disgust.
"Don't touch my things you creepy pedophile!" I whack my hand across his face, catching him off guard. But soon, I was whacked myself when a fuming Laura glares my way.
"Don't hurt others Rose." She warns, pointing her finger at me as Kyle silently laughs and pokes his tongue out. She then whacks Kyle as well. "Don't go through her undergarments. You're meant to go through mine!" She complains as they walk away, leaving me here all lonely...
I don't want to seem like a bad friend or anything, but. . . . I just cant see Kyle and Laura together as a couple. It just . . .There's something odd about Kyle. . . .
"A penny for your thoughts?" A familiar voice interrupts my thoughts, nearly giving me a heart attack, mind you.
"Gosh Malcolm, I think my heart has suffered enough attacks to stop it from beating."
Malcolm laughs then hugs me. "I'm sorry, but they do say, what doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger." He states then looks over to where Kyle and Laura were, who are currently fooling around and laughing. "Well they seem awfully close lately." He says bitterly.
Confused, I look from Malcolm to them then back at Malcolm. It was then did realisation hit me. "OH MY GOSH! You have a crush on Laura don't you!" I exclaim quite loudly, a goofy smile making its way to my lips.
He looks at me with wide eyes, Almost like he was terrified. "NO! Never. Geez lady, give me a break!"
I grin then hit my shoulder on his. "Yeah sure you don't." I say sarcastically, rolling my eyes.
"I don't." He grits out.
"Oh stop being in denial, just admit it." I say still teasing him.
"I'm not in denial Rose because I don't. . . I am. . ." He seemed to be struggling with his words, biting the corner of his lips nervously.
"You're what?"
He sighs then runs his hands through his hair. "I have a crush on Kyle. Not Laura."
