"Kreia?" Calibri's eyes widened in shock.
Alexei nodded. "She was there, your majesty."
Calibri suddenly looked quite serious.
"Nobody... did anything strange, right? It was not some sort of child trafficking venture, was it?"
Alexei thought for a moment.
"From what I remember, none of them harmed her."
"And you?"
"Me?"
"Did any of them harm you?" Calibri asked very seriously.
"No, your majesty. It was only you."
Calibri nodded, feeling relieved that they were unscathed. "Well... That eye must have come from somewhere. I wonder why Pearl has it."
Alexei wasn't sure if Pearl was the child demon with Calibri's face, but from what Calibri had said, it seemed like he was. Wracking his brain, he tried to remember if Pearl had been there on that night... But his mind kept fogging up with darkness. He couldn't remember beyond the point he'd been knocked out.
