Flashback Part 2: Alexei

Calibri whined. "Alexei, I am sleepy."
Alexei heard the guards walking down the passage. He made a shushing gesture and Calibri paused, pouting. When he'd arrived earlier, he had seen no guards around the parameter of Sapphire tower, which was extremely odd, but he knew there had to be some Verbatians patrolling the forest, and there were definitely guards inside the tower.
They were always ready for one of Calibri's great and elaborate escapes, however, with Trinity away on important business, he'd taken many of Verbatiums warriors with him. That meant many of the people who usually patrolled wherever Calibri was staying were not there.
Perhaps that was why he'd seen nobody when he snuck into the tower.
