Haochen watched from the distance as Xavier and Alexei spoke. While he was too far to hear the conversation, he could see the deathly intent emanating off Alexei as he grabbed Xavier by the collar.
With a frown, Haochen stood up again. He'd noticed that Alexei usually only resorted to violence or stubbornness whenever Calibri was concerned. The time with Cloud, was because of Calibri's dignity. The dagger at Kol's throat was because Kol had grabbed his arm, and the refusal to let Kol's familiar see his, was because he was annoyed at what Kol had done when Calibri had spoken for Xavier.
Haochen could tell since Twilight Tower that Alexei neither liked nor trusted Xavier. Now, he was holding him with his left hand in a vice grip while his right hand remained in the cast.
So he really had broken his arm. Then what about Calibri? Were they telling the truth when they'd said he was asleep? Or was something wrong with him?
