Chapter 5 - Games In The Basement (Part Two)

I carefully follow Peter out of the room, thought still filling my head. Running away? And how did Peter-who is supposed to be dead-make all these friends? And why do they want to help us?

The group of us sit on the floor, on a circle made out of pillows. "So, what are we gonna play?" I ask curiously once I've gotten myself comfortable on the pillow, grabbing another one and holding it against my body to cover my torso.

I look around at the group. Everyone was given similar pajamas to the one I'm wearing. Ben's outfit is a pale purple color, matching the pigment of his hair. Ben has always stood out in our little group. He has bright blue eyes and his unusual hair pigment he swears is the true color of his hair. Oddest to that is his large front teeth, like buck teeth. I've never seen any customers who look like that, ever. Granted I've never been out in the world so I wouldn't know. Maybe it's something Vincent did to him. He seems more shy than the others when you hang out with him in groups. But the truth is that he's very outspoken and brave, he just chooses not to show it.

My eyes shift over to Franky. His pajamas are tan brown with yellow spots. He has light brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. His skin is also darker than the rest of us. Again, Franky's soft appearance can change just by the sound of his deep voice. On the surface he looks soft and childlike. But once you get him talking, and you hear the deepness of his voice, you become intimidated by him.

My eyes shift once more to Cathy, wearing a pink pair of pajamas with blue spots. The bright fluorescent pink of the pajamas makes her baby blue eyes pop in comparison. She's undoubtedly beautiful. She's the girl all women would die to be. Everyone wants to be like Cathy. You see women and men admire her while they eat their meals. A lot of people request to be on her side of the diner, just to have her in their sights.

These four people have meant a lot to me in the past years. They're all very special people.

"Franky and Ben have decided on truth or dare." Cathy smiles widely.

I roll my eyes, only slightly amused. "How am I not surprised?" I say sarcastically. Only to hear Ben and Franky snicker.

"Yea, if we're playing with the two of you it might as well just be called Dare." Peter teases at Ben and Franky.

Ben smirks in response, "challenge accepted, Petey."

I can already tell this will either be extremely fun or really bad.

"I'll go first," Peter says. We all look at him but his eyes set on me. Why am I always the first person to get called out? Why can't I be the invisible one who never gets dared. But nope.

"I dare you..." Peter draws out his words which makes my heart pound, worried he's going to ask me to do something awfully embarrassing. "Unbutton the next one down on your shirt." He smirks.

I almost sigh in relief as I undo the next button.

The group chuckles and I hear Peter say, "I should have asked her to do two."

I frown trying to contain the smile tugging at the edge of my lips. I look at Cathy, giving her a challenging grin which is returned to me as expected. "Cathy. I dare you to tell us the most embarrassing thing that's ever happen to you."

Cathy frowns, as if disappointed with my dare. "It's that the same as a truth, Alex? Are you playing it safe?" She asks teasingly.

"Alexandra, playing it safe?" Peter asks teasingly then his tone turns sarcastic, "Never."

The group fills which chuckles and Cathy's giggle. Then everyone's eyes set on her, curiously.

Cathy visibly gulps and blushes. "Ah, um." She takes a moment to think. Looking as if she has to figure out how to word it. "Last year, I was tired during my shift and so I went to the bathroom." She laughs nervously, "and I walked into the gentleman's room instead of the ladies room." Her face turns a vivid pink.

We all burst out in laughter. Not just of what it was but how she said it is what made it even more funny.

She childishly crosses her arms, still visibly embarrassed by the situation. "It's not funny." She says bashfully.

I smile, "yes, yes it is."

She looks directly at Franky. "Franky, I dare you to scare someone."

Scare someone? I've seen Franky intimidate people but scare someone? I frown when I see Franky walking on his knees over to me. And me out of all people? I can put up a pretense of being unbothered by a lot of things. But I am easily shaken. Maybe that's something Vincent can change through my programming.

Franky harshly grabs my shoulders and pulls my upper body towards him. My breath catches, out of fear. I'm already shaken.

"I'm going to tear your body, limb from limb, slowly as your body fills with so much adrenaline all you can do is focus on the absolute pain." Franky leans away from my ear, letting go of my shoulders. He smiles at me.

"That seem to do the trick," Cathy giggled teasingly.

The game went on for what seemed like forever. I laughed so hard my stomach is still in pain.

I'm laying in the bed now. It took me forever to brush off all the dirt that had layered it in the time I was here first. Andrew and Salvation showed up just as we had finished our game. They headed off to their own rooms. Until today I didn't really know there were other rooms in here. I still have so many questions about my past, I wish I could find answers. I just need to find out who to ask. I try to figure it out in my mind as I stare at the wall, drifting to sleep.
