Chapter 11 - Sooner Than Expected

"I know," Peter says as he closes the door. He looks over at me, an evident frown on his face. "He did chain you up."

I nod, "why are you in here, Peter." I ask, worried. "You're going to get yourself in trouble and I can't protect you."

"You don't need to." Peter says defensively, "We're going to get you out of here tomorrow night."

I shake my head, confused. "Tomorrow night? Why so soon?"

"Ben had a conversation with Andrew and Salvation. Vincent is planning on putting your program into full effect in three days so that you can't fight him." Peter says. I can hear the worry in his voice. "So we decided we'd get you out before then."

I look down, contemplating this. Vincent is going to take complete control in three days? How am I going to get away? What if he's here that night? I shudder a breath, my eyes going back to meet Peter's. "What time?"

"Midnight. Vincent leaves at 10 when the restaurant closes. Ben has made sure he won't be here." Peter says then points to the window above my bed that leads outside. "Mike will meet you at the window. He has the tools to open the window and break the chain."

"I'll meet you at the bottom of the cliff." I say, finishing the sentence to see Peter nod.

"Sounds like you're with us."

I nod, looking at Peter for another moment longer. He quickly turns around, "Vincent's back. Don't let him find out." He warns as he leaves the room.

I nod. My heart speeds up a bit. How do I keep such a big secret from Vincent? Won't he find out? If he finds out he'll be sure to kill Peter and maybe even Ben for being part of it.

I listen the door shut quietly. I lay down on the bed, turning my back to the door and take a deep breath, relaxing myself completely so that it'll seem like I was sleeping before he walks in.

I hear the door open. I only hear him take a few steps before I turn my head to look at him. "Salvation gave you some of the memories, right?" He asks.

I nod, "He did."

He sits down next to my legs as I transition to my back. "And? What do you think? Do you have any questions?" He asks, I feel him put his hand on my thigh. He's going to make me ask.

"I-It was interesting," I say, "I definitely didn't remember any of it."

He smiles, "Anything you wanna ask me?"

I shudder a breath, feeling the words rise in my throat, even though I don't want to ask any. "Why did you hang out with me and my mother?"

His smile turns to a grin which makes me shiver. "I needed your mother to trust me. That way when you went missing I wouldn't be a suspect. I even offered to help her find you. It was only recently that I became a suspect to her."

"Four years later?" I ask "Why after four years?"

"Four?" Vincent looks amused, "That's right. When I altered your memories I said you were fourteen when you came to me. Alexandra, my love. You were only ten when I took you. Your mother started suspecting me eight years after you disappeared."

I inhale sharply, "Ten?"

Vincent nods, "What else?"

"What did you do to Maddie and Theresa?" I press my lips together, upset that I asked.

"Your little friends?" Vincent hums, his face turning thoughtful, "They were just like you. I made them what I planned on making you, just to make sure I could do it."

"They were cyborgs too?" i ask and watch Vincent nod. "What happened to them?"

"Maddie and Theresa were very strong," he says, his eyes wandering from my eyes to my body then around the room, "Your program is set with a security measure that if you fight back when the programming is running, you get electrocuted by the electrical part of your body. Maddie and Theresa fought back so much the fried themselves. They knew they were doing it." He sighs, "But I did know I could do the transformation successfully. And your personality was not as strong-headed as theirs. I was sure you weren't going to kill yourself to get away from me." Vincent leans over, unlocking the cuff and letting me sit up.

I hold my wrist with my other hand, it feels sensitive after having the cold metal attached to it for so long. "Why didn't you just turn off the program?" I ask, upset that he let them die.

"They wanted to die." He shrugs, "I wasn't going to stop them. I only needed them to make sure I could change you."

I frown, feeling tears come to my eyes. I'm upset. How could to talk about them like that.

Vincent's eyes meet mine, he smiles, "Hm, that makes you mad, does it?" He grabs my hand, "C'mon, I want to show you something."

I follow as he pulls me out of the room and through the hall. "Where are we going?" I ask nervously.
