Looking up I met his gaze head on but I could sense something that wasn't there a moment ago.
'Is he nervous?'
"Of course not. Get to bed Ben, now!"
Winking at him, I said my farewells and followed after the stormy man.
"So Brandon. Is that your real name? It's nice."
The moment I spoke he stiffened, resembling a statue more than a human being ever should. But when I finished my sentence he whirled round and looked at me.
"Nice, is that all you're going to say? I lied to you! Betrayed your trust! And all you're going to say it that my name is nice"
Brandon POV
'Is she nuts? What is she thinking?'
Question strew across my mind as I replayed that scene again and again in my head.
'Does she mean it? Is she really not angry at me?'
"Well what do you expect me to say? Dami- Brandon, you were uprooted from your world and placed into another one, where your world was nothing but a fictional story. What do you think you should have just outright said: Hey my name is Brandon Winters and I'm from the popular fantasy world of Vardale. Dude, I would have had you committed or just outright ran away from you."
Her explanation while making sense did leave a bit puzzled.
"I suppose you're right. I couldn't have told you. But I still do feel bad about lying to you." turning my large grey puppy dog eyes at her, I could tell I had her hooked.
"You know after meeting Ben, I can't say they work anymore," she said pointing to my eyes.
Then she started to rub her imaginary beard as if thinking hard,
"Or maybe they were never that effective." She said with a smile, as if she figured out the mysteries of life itself.
