Chapter 51 - The Evolution and New City

"I am here to report." A female mage stated.

"Go on." A booming voice responded.

It was none other than Stabbed and Rosadell.

"We have gathered over 500 players. 300 are guild members, 245 are volunteers, and the the rest are hired mercenaries."

Stabbed made an extremely confident smile, "I would like to see that silver haired brat live through all this."

Akiol's eyes slowly opened. He blinked and looked at his hands. He was whole, and he wasn't a puddle which was nice.

Checking his body he noticed that his core was back inside. This relieved him, he decided that he would never touch his core if he didn't need too. As Akiol searches his surroundings he noticed a notification in front of him.

Pressing confirm he braced himself. Akiol hoped that this time the evolution wouldn't be more painful.

While Akiol was used to pain, it didn't mean he was immune to it. If possible he would to prefer not to get hurt.

This time there was something new in his evolution phase. After the initial extremely sore body pain, he felt like he was vibrating slightly. The very faint tremble wasn't real, he could tell that much. It was just the sensation.

It didn't take long until his evolution phase was done.

Akiol grinned and pulled out the stat crystal, crushing it.

In just a handful of minutes Akiol's stats have risen by 40! Something he would only be able to do at a much higher level. Pulling up the status menu.

His stats had reached the triple-digit mark! This excited Akiol, how much stronger would he be now? As he relished in his improvements he remember something. Pressing on [Core Movement] he read the description.

Core Movement: The feeling of your core being removed lingers in your memory. With it, comes the ability to move your core.

Cost: 100MP a second.

Even more excitement welled inside him. He could move his core! He was oh so happy, but before further celebration he had to test it.

Akiol activated [Core Movement] and his mana began to deplete rapidly. After some experimentation he finally understood the skill. He was able to move his core 1 inch for 100 MP. After a second or two it slowly moved back to its original position. While it doesn't seem much, it was enough for him. Moving a weak point an inch or two a different direction was enough to turn a battle.

Now that his personal improvement had been handled, there was something else he had to do.

He walked through the Adventurers Guild's doors. Walking up to the receptionist he asked, "Can I get a teleport scroll to a city?"

The receptionist nodded and pulled out a few items. A small cubic box and a piece of paper. Gesturing to the box she said, "To confirm you meet the basic requirements please put your hand there."

Akiol did as he was told. The box lit up, blinked three times, and stopped. The receptionist nodded and handed the paper over, while taking the box back.

"Sign these and after the fee is paid you will be granted a teleport scroll."

Akiol stopped writing for a second, how large was the fee going to be? The receptionist said fee and not 'small' fee. He had accumulated well over 3 thousand gold. However if most of that was taken for a 'fee' he would cry.

Akiol finished signing the paper, "How much is the fee?" He asked timidly.

The receptionist smiled and said, "One thousand gold."

It was multiplied over ten times! This was daylight robbery! It was unfair! Did that mean to get to a kingdom he had to pay ten thousand?

After mentally ranting about the extreme price he paid it anyway. The receptionist smiled and said, "Thank you for your service!" And handed a teleport scroll to Akiol.

Akiol grimaced, this scroll cost him one thousand gold. He didn't even feel like using it. However he did anyway, he wasn't going to hold an opportunity to get stronger back, even if it cost one thousand gold.

Using the teleport scroll he appeared in front of his city. The first thing he noticed was that there was a walls. The first two didn't have any walls, only soldiers as a defense. Entering the city he was stopped by a guard.

"State your business!"

Akiol replied, "Adventurer, here to do quests in this area."

The guard looked at him, pulling out a card and said, "Need a mana signature before I can let you in."

Akiol complied, the guard retracted the card and watched it. After a small while he nodded and stared, "You may pass!"

Akiol walked into the city and a notification appeared.

Akiol walked into the city, it was a beautiful sight. Buildings made of bricks and stones decorated the side of the streets. Those same streets were flat and made with a light colored stone brick. Everything complimented each other, while also being sturdy and reliable.

Akiol searched for a particular street. Many players had begun to call these streets 'Player Street' since all the players flock to it. This street was the one with the guild, class trainers, and shops.

Eventually finding it he walked into the Adventurers Guild. It almost looked the same, except some minor changes. Walking up to the receptionist he asked, "Just got here, is there anything I need to confirm before doing a quest?"

The receptionist nodded, pulling out a card they pushed it across the table towards Akiol.

"We need your mana signature."

Akiol felt like he would be doing more mana signatures in the future. It seemed like it's needed for everything. After leaving his signature the receptionist pushed the card into a slot on what looked like a computer.

After watching the screen for a bit their eyes widened and said, "Please wait a moment." As they scurried of behind the desk.

Akiol felt defeated, being a slime also had its troubles. A short while later the receptionist came back, "If you would please follow me."

Akiol followed, even the inside of the Adventurers Guild was similar. He wondered if it was made that was for the players. By the looks of it he was going to the guild master's office.

Once they arrived the receptionist opened the door and ushered Akiol in. As he walked in the office he realized that the place was significantly different than Vordu's. There were only weapons decorating the walls. Akiol slotted all sorts of weapons. Sitting at the desk was a short man. It was a dwarf, they were kicked back and relaxing.

When the dwarf looked at Akiol they raised their eyebrows. Speaking in a gruff voice they said, "I 'eard you was a slime. You sure don't look like one though."

Akiol formed into his ball shape, instead of explaining, showing was much easier.

"Colored me surprised, a slime actually exists. Forgive mine rude remark, come sit."

Akiol formed back into his avatar and sat down. When he did he noticed a beautiful weapon behind the dwarf. He was surprised he didn't realize it.

The dwarf saw his gaze and grinned, "A beauty isn't it?"

Akiol nodded, it wasn't that the sword just looked good. As an experience sword wielder he knew that the sword would fit well in his hand.

'What's this? Another sword? Have I really become a decoration to you?' Stars asked.

"Decoration swords aren't meant to be used in combat. So I guess it depends on your view." Akiol responded.

'Hold on, just saw the sword you were looking at through your head. Pull me out I want to see it.'

"You sure? There's someone else here."

'It's a dwarf right? Those guys have a mutual understanding that other people's weapons can be admired, not taken. So it's fine.'

Akiol complied and dispelled Stars. When the dwarf saw this their eyes widened so much Akiol thought they would have fallen out for a split second.

"Is that one of the upper four swords?!" The dwarf asked both excitedly and baffled.

Akiol nodded and the dwarf jumped out of there seat and rushed to Akiol. He asked, "May I hold it?"

'It's fine, I want to ask him some questions anyway.'

Akiol handed the sword to the dwarf. The dwarf carefully carried it like it was a newborn child. Their face filled with glee.

It was an interesting sight to see the mostly indifferent dwarf turn childlike. It put a faint smile on Akiol's face as he watched patiently.
