Chapter 54 - An Outnumbered Battle Pt. 1

The party approached the large player group. Standing a few meters away from it Akiol shouted, "Stabbed! Show yourself!"

The players split apart and Stabbed with his two followers walked towards Akiol. As they approached Stabbed complimented, "Your bravery is admirable! To think that we didn't even have to go through with our plan. I truly thank you for making things easy for us."

Akiol folded his arms and stared him down, "Doesn't matter, your movements were obvious. We're just here to finally put an end to things."

"To think you would insult me after my praise. Honestly I misjudged you."

There was shouts of approval, many of the players voiced their anger.

"Have you no shame?"

"It looks like the post was true after all. . ."

"Hmph! I can't wait to destroy that cocky-"

Akiol interrupted them all, "Oh yeah the post! How come you didn't mention the fact we tried to negotiate? Why did you hide the fact that you didn't accept any negotiation and simply threatened? We were willing to settle this peacefully, after all it was us who started this. I am afraid it was only you who brought it this far. . . !"

This spread a tad of doubt amongst the players. Many of them knew Stabbed's personality so it seemed plausible.

"Ha! You stole an object then wanted to be paid for it's return? You dare act as if you are a peaceful bunch? Don't spread lies amongst us now." Stabbed refuted.

Akiol narrowed his eyes, this one going to be a one-sided verbal dispute. With a chaotic crowd like this they were most likely going to follow the majority choice. That made this argument pointless. Akiol was positive that Stabbed had already sown enough hate against him. Those who were unsure were likely to fight anyway to not stand out too much.

"Oh please, we didn't want to be paid we asked for your offer! What we truly wanted was our bounties to be taken down. Instead your power craze led you to believe you could demand whatever you wanted!" Akiol fired back.

Stabbed sneered, "Enough chatting! I know you and your little team can defend against ranged attacks. So how will you fair against a large onslaught of melee?! Attack!"

The players let out a collective cry and charged towards Akiol. Shaking his head with a laugh he addressed his party, "We're outnumbered many to one, so let's fight until the end!"

The party let out a voice of approval and they got into position. It was time for everyone to use their trump cards and battle!

Jarvis flipped his book open, on the page were five small furry creatures all sleeping in a circle. Jarvis played a song and the picture slid off the page and landed on the ground. There the five creatures looked at him cutely. They looked like ferrets, except their tails were more like a squirrel.

The adorable creatures were, of course, not to be underestimated. Jarvis pointed towards the charging players, the creatures nodded and scurried towards them. Some players found them adorable and couldn't bear to strike them, some were a bit more cautious.

However everyone immediately disliked the creatures when they climbed on to the players and started tearing through their flesh. Each creature had their own player and quickly finished through each one.

These creatures were known as the Quintuplet Man-Eaters. Their official name wasn't something Jarvis could pronounce. They weren't really just Man-Eaters, instead they were just vicious carnivores who didn't care what kind of meat they ate was. These creatures were always together, if one died they would stop eating and starve to death. Jarvis had nurtured one back to health and they all wished to be his tamed creatures. He figured now would be the best time to let them free.

Wrock and Akiol were the first to run into the battle. These players were a bunch of emotional average players, so they weren't match for the two by themselves. There was a saying that power was in numbers, Wrock and Akiol could easily be counted as a counter-argument.

Players swung their swords, only to find that their neck was sliced. Other found themselves twisted in ways that were not natural. This spread a bit of fear into the crowd, but a player shouted, "They'll get tired eventually! Why are we scared?!"

This fueled their confidence and the players continued to charge into battle.

Many players managed to get past Akiol and Wrock, intending to take down the healer. However try as they might they couldn't get past the defender. She always managed to deflect their blows, even if they steadily increased the damage she took eventually the Priest would heal her.

Once some of the players found their efforts useless they attempted to attack the sorcerer. Kan'na didn't appreciate this and a magic circle appeared at her feet. These magic circles acted like stepping stones. Using them Kan'na climbed her way several meters in the air.

"She can fly?!"

"Not a single player had managed flight yet! Who is she?!"

Kan'na ignored the player's ramblings. Instead she began to write a complicated magic circle. . .

The Quintuplet Man-Eaters were tearing through the players. Many tried to pull them off but they scrambled around their bodies, tearing through flesh. Jarvis had named the five, he felt like naming increased his bond between the animals. As such they were named similarly, like Bo and To. Their names were Levy, Larry, Leny, Lily, and Ludy. Three girls and two boys.

They were fantastic animals, however that wasn't all Jarvis was capable of. Now that he reached level 100 he could summon up to two creatures from different pages. Each one of his summoning 'slots' worked a bit differently than normal. Instead of it counting the creatures he summoned, it counted how many pages he summoned from. So the Quintuplet Man-Eaters counted as one summon slot.

This meant he could summon another, he wasn't going summon his strongest. During his time leveling up he learned more about the creatures, stuff that wasn't written in his book. He knew who would compliment another better in battle. In this case the best to summon with the Man-Eaters was the Bongo Gorilla.

This creature's chest had six sections. Each section played a different sound when hit. The Bongo Gorilla uses this to play songs that boost his creature's abilities. If he used this along with his own songs his creatures can become even stronger. Flipping to it's page he played the tune. The gorilla was summoned to his right, smacking two of it's sections.

Donk-Bonk.

Jarvis always found this funny, so he named the Gorilla Donk. He didn't need to order Donk to do anything, for the gorilla knew what to do from the practice. As it beat its chest the bongo-like sounds started to flow together. Making a lovely song.

[Song of the Ferocious: All vicious carnivores that hear this song are filled with vigor. +40% speed and attack.]

The players fighting the Man-Eaters screamed louder. As they were tearing viciously through their bodies even faster.

Akiol and Wrock fought through the players. Both silently agreeing to make their way towards the leaders. Wrock had been hit a few times. With his current stats evading all the attacks would be impossible. Akiol was also hit but since none of the attacks reached his core so he was fine.

Wrock's breathing became heavier. Noticing this Akiol recommended, "You can step back if you want, I'll continue forward."

Wrock shook his head adamantly, he wasn't going to back away now. He long accepted that he would die here. If he was going to fall, he would fall valiantly.

The two continued to fight their way among the players. Stabbed noticed that the fight was going downhill quickly. This still didn't worry him, after all they were only took down an eighth of the players. He still had yet to use the other half. After all they were ranged.

Now was a good time to use them, he would show them his power. He would be the victor and he would be the star of the monthly highlight.

Stabbed shouted, "Range attackers, fire!"
