Entirely disgusted he withdrew his hand and wiped it on my cap.
"Yuck," he complained.
"So, what now?" I asked.
He turned back and I walked beside him.
"First, you have to lend me your sunglasses," he commanded.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion and looked down until I saw my sunglasses conveniently hooked on my tank top.
I rolled my eyes and gave him my sunglasses. We walked in silence until my stomach rumbled.
"You're lucky because I'm hungry so McDonalds here we come," he said.
I couldn't keep my grin off of me.
"Finally!" I gleefully answered.
We walked until we reached the place and he gave me money to order ourselves a meal at the counter.
Okay, so I didn't actually order generously because I got myself a big Mac, chicken nuggets, soda, sundae and fries while I only got him a big Mac and a soda.
I only ate a granola bar at breakfast and skipped lunch so I need all this calories.
I brought our orders and sat at the table he picked near the window. I arranged both of our orders and started to eat.
He stared at his food and glanced at my food. He looked at me. "Are you going to eat all that?" he gestured at my food.
I looked up at him. "Yes," I curtly replied with my mouth full.
"Is this all of my food?" he asked again.
I swallowed the mush down my throat. "Yes."
He sighed and devoured his big Mac. "I spent half of the money on my food as payment for your using me as camouflage," I said and rested my chin on top of my hands.
As he munched on his burger I noticed him staring at my hand then looked at my eyes and I stared back and started the staring contest.
I grinned, "Loser has to pay for a take-out for the victor," I declared without blinking.
"Deal," he accepted without flinching.
I adjusted myself and started counting silently. I was already counting to 10 seconds when he joined me and as our counting dragged on to 45 seconds, hands were already on the table as our eyes are filled with tears.
In the corner of my vision I can see the AC standing not so far away from our table and blew cold air. Why did we pick this table?!
A tear slides on his left cheek and his right eye was already twitching. I felt water blurring my vision but I will not lose to this stranger.
Five seconds passed and my opponent undeniably blinked. I rose from my seat and pumped my right arm in the air as I let the tears stream down from my face as I closed them and rejoiced.
I sat back down and leaned on my chair. "Looks like you owe me a take-out," I smirked at him.
He wiped his eyes and stood, defeated.
"Yeah-yeah! Fries and burger to go please," I commanded.
Thankfully, Ben arrived at the airport 15 minutes later and I stared blankly out the window and thought of my recent encounter with the stranger until the voice of my driver distracted me from my thoughts.
"I am really sorry for the delay miss. I wish I could have gone earlier if I realized that the traffic to the airport was this bad," he apologized.
I peered at him. "It's fine," I curtly replied.
He got in the driver's seat and shut the door. He adjusted the front mirror and his eyes came into view staring at me.
"You know, your sister is really excited to see you," he said and he is really looking at me now.
I raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Really Ben?" I chuckled.
"Yeah, not really," he grinned.
I laughed and he turned in his seat to drive.
The only thing I look forward at being home again is my best friend.
He together with Ben and the sweet Mrs. Goldberg are the only people in my life that I know truly cared for me.
I might have a sister but she hates my guts, she orders me around and she got a stick up her ass. My father on the other hand has high expectations on the both of us, mostly my sister. I never really felt his presence when I grew up since he dedicated his life on running the business after mom died.
Glancing outside the car window, I saw the house I lived in for 8 years.

After treating that girl to McDonald's, I gave her hat back and went our separate ways. If it wasn't for her, I would have been discovered by the entourage my father paid to guard me that's always following me.
I sighed and waited to be picked up by my personal bodyguard, 'STAY PUT THIS TIME' he ordered me in a text message.
And he also told me to stay out of sight, so I'm inside McDonald's comfort room inside a cubicle.
I never really asked to be born in this industry. Ever since I was a kid, the media was already watching me as the kid of a famous movie star. You think it sounds exhilarating but it's not, it's suffocating and tiring and I never can have the freedom to do whatever I want without expecting anything positive. I'm like a dog with a leash, pampered but trapped.
I sat down the toilet bowl and took out my cell phone. I decided to browse the internet for awhile to amuse myself. Like sitting on the toilet bowl is not amusing.
I was in the middle of playing Minecraft when the door of the comfort room creaked.
A voice called out, "Sir, are you here?"
Hearing that familiar voice I exited my game and opened the cubicle door greeting my driver.
"Don't get any ideas, I was only sitting on the toilet bowl playing Minecraft waiting for your ass to come," I defended while walking towards the door.
He raised his arms and said, "I wasn't thinking anything."
Upon reaching the doorknob I looked back and asked, "What took you so long?"
"Ms. Chang stopped by Oblivion to schedule your photo shoot next week," he replied.
I furrowed my eyebrows, "I thought I told her I want the next week off, Joe?" I affirmed.
He scratched his head, "You did sir, but she told me it wouldn't be 'smart' because it's almost time for the Summer Gala and you still have things to prepare for."
Annoyed, I dragged a hand to my face, "The Summer Gala is not for another week," I complained.
"Ms. Chang is only making sure everything goes smoothly."
"Why is she worried about that? I dated Fallon Mitchell because she told me it will do good on my career and I suffered man! I deserve a week off!" I whined.
Surely dating that vain pop star wasn't all for nothing?
He coughed, "Yeah, because you dumped her via text message," he said pointing out what I did.
I smiled, "You see, she wasn't nice and she only cares about her image and her face and so I told her to 'get lost and love yourself, we're through' and because she was a witch, she twisted my words and made up a story in a press conference of how she was really hurt by my..." I paused and quote unquoted, "cheating."
I turned around and opened the door, my bodyguard followed suit. We got in the car and went home.
After almost an hour of arguing with Ms. Chang, I deemed it useless because she was as reasonable as a rock.
I sauntered to my bed and collapsed to my defeat--to my bed--and stared at the ceiling.
I crossed my arms behind my head and my thoughts drifted to what happened hours ago, how I luckily stumbled upon that girl and used her as a cover to escape from my bodyguards.
Turning to my side, I grabbed my phone, scrolled through my contacts and when I reached the letter 'z', my eyes widened and a dawning realization tore through me.
I blinked. "Did I just forget to ask her name? Or number?"
Damn, she didn't even recognize me. But that bracelet though.
She's got a common name, and an old one at that. I mean, who names their daughter Mary nowadays anyway?
