"Tasty thing creator? Po-yo?' The Blue Slime, former Big Slime, prodded at Taki with its tentacle appendage. "Are you there?"
Taki still was speechless. His life was already a confusing mess in the normal world, and now here he understands even less.
'What am I supposed to do now? Ever since I arrived here, I've done nothing but try to survive, and I barely got through that. I have no goals, no reason to keep going, what should I do?'
He stared at the Slimes. They were smart, they were good hunters. One of the Slimes recognized the need for fuel, and even brought a Log. They could understand his speech, and the Big- no, Blue Slime even talked to him.
He sat down cross legged near the Blue Slime, and petted it. The outer layer of goo on the Slimes was surprisingly sturdy, as if a hard shell formed around it. The Blue Slime closed its eyes, and the hard shell turned soft. Taki continued to pet it.
'Let's see... What do I want to do? What do I not want to do? I'm tired of just surviving around here. I don't want to lose this second chance at living, even if living around here is hell.'
He looked at the Slimes. They all stared with curious eyes. He looked at the Blue Slime, who seemed to enjoy the petting.
He abruptly stopped, and lifted himself from the ground.
"I shall become the Slime King!" Taki loudly announced to the Slimes, his eyes burning with the fury of ambition. No longer would he be a observer on his own life, and just watch as things happened. He wanted a kingdom of his own, and live life to the fullest. No more quiet, no more peace, he would now have what he had been lacking his whole life: ambition.
The Slimes went quiet. They all formed a circle among themselves, discussing in what Taki had labeled 'Slimese', the language of Po's and Yo's. He couldn't understanding a single poyo, but the tone of the Slimes indicated that it was a serious conversation.
The Slimes however, suddenly went quiet, as the Blue Slime started to speak, in the center of the circle.
Once again, the Blue Slime spoke with eloquence, in a voice of grandeur. It's 'Poyos' were deeper, his new color seemingly changing the evolved Slime's voice as well.
As the Blue Slime finished talking, every Slime nodded. Most with a serious face. The Blue Slime approached Taki.
"Black cook, we Slimes challenge you to a combat for you to prove yourself as the new slime king, poyo." it said, in a somber voice.
"Very well, I accept your chall-" Taki was interrupted by a pseudopod hitting him in the guts, sending him careering against a wall. Taki fell onto the ground on his knees, and spat blood on the ground.
But there was no time to rest. He heard the sound of something flying across the air, and rolled to the side on instinct. Two large pseudopods smashed against the wall, just in the place he was a second ago.
He sprinted forward, taking one of the branches that was currently in fire, and wielding it like a sword. He slid, avoiding a pseudopod that was heading his way, and swatted the Blue Slime with the branch. The branch snapped in half.
The Slime, much to Taki's surprise, was hurled to the side, with a crack on it's outer shell. It used its pseudopods to grab onto the ground, and stopped itself before it hit the wall. Two more pseudopods came out of the Slime's side, and flew in Taki's direction.
'Noted: They harden their outer layer of goo for combat.' Taki said, as he jumped into the air, grabbing into the ceiling. Four pseudopods flew by like bullets in the space he was in. One of them came back, and grabbed his leg, throwing him into the ground.
He felt his wind being knocked out of him. The Blue Slime started to drag him towards itself, while the other pseudopods tried to smash him as he was into the ground.
Taki rolled to the sides and deflected the pseudopods with his tail, but some of them still hit him in the chest. He hoped that if he had ribs, none of them broke with this barrage of attacks.
When one of the pseudopods rushed towards his head, his instincts screamed at him, and his tail pierced the tentacle, splitting it. The Blue Slime let out a groan, and let go of Taki's leg.
The cut pseudopod splashed in the ground, turning into a liquid. The other Slimes let out surpised "poy..." sounds.
Taki grinned, and ran towards the bonfire. The Blue Slime frowned, and tried to swat him again. He evaded the pseudopods, and purposely took a hit on his back, letting him soar towards his target.
He flew too high, but managed to grab two sharp sticks in time before hitting the wall again. He landed properly this time, but turned around too slow, letting the Blue Slime land a solid hit on his chest. Taki felt his breath fail him, but pierced the pseudopod with one of the sticks nevertheless.
A massive crack erupted from the pseudopod, with the liquid inside it starting to flow out. The stick was embedded in the pseudopod, which was quickly retracted by the Blue Slime. It tried to use it's other pseudopods to tear the small spear out, and stopped paying attention to Taki.
The later had a wry grin on it's face.
He crawled on the ceiling in absolute silence, and as he got above the Blue Slime, he jumped down, spinning in the air and stabbing the other stick into the crack that had formed. The Blue Slime let out a shrieked "POYO!", as the other stick barely pierced into the shell. But Taki was not done. His tail, as precise as a bullet, smashed into the stick, piercing the crack and pushing the splinters even further. The Blue Slime swatted him away, and shrieked, as it's liquids poured out from him.
"You worthy! I give up, poyo!" the Blue Slime begged, as the other Slimes slid towards him. They started blocking the holes in the Blue Slime's shell with their pseudopods.
The cracks seemed to heal and mend very quickly, and in no time at all, the Blue Slime looked as if it was brand new, if not smaller than before.
The Slimes all 'bowed' towards Taki, which looked like they stopped mid-rolling, and had their faces pointed towards their ground.
Taki let out a grunt, and smiled. This was his first fight that did not involve him running for his life, even if he had broken something. He tapped his chest region, but felt no pain, his tough scales seemingly unaffected by the combat. His body seemed really resistant, as if it was built for this.
He knelt near the Blue Slime, and patted it again. It flinched, but quickly softened at the soft caressing motions.
"You did well, Bluesy." Taki said in a soft tone, labeling the Blue Slime.
He stood up, and looked at the Slimes.
"Are you ready to accept me as your king?" Taki asked in a voice filled with grandeur.
