Chapter 36 - fall of the wolves 2 (various pov)

How could a mother stay stable when her little ones suffered so much and died no matter how much she tried or the healers her little ones died becoming dust before her eyes and carried on the wind.

A mere memory was all that left, their scents even faded.

A roar escaped her maw she could not hold back. The memory hurt too much.

A low, mourn filled roar erupted, her sisters echoed followed by the realm shaking roar of her mate who stepped from the space appearing by her side.

King Bahn stepped from the space directly beside his beloved.

Her form looked smaller than it actually was, the memory of her as a mere cub rose her regal look and speech. It was beyond fate, more like the great lady darkness had ordained her for him.

The beautiful gold of her fur with her tilted wide feline eyes, he felt when looking down at the little cub who was fifty realm cycles younger than his one hundred, his soul had been captured and his hearts squeeze.

She had sat on her hunches chest proud gazing up at him he had been sure he was looking down at this cub but it seemed she even though sat below was looking down at him that.

"You will be my first queen,"

The words had spilt out from his maw. She had chuckled, rose and lopped off, leaving him yearning to be in her presence.

Now... His mate had her head drooped. The sorrow from their connection drove him close to madness. Still, he made a low roar to comfort her, nudging her with his massive head and raking his tongue at the nape of her neck.

"King of lions, please... Why must we suffer? Some-"

"You should know to speak when spoken to, you pathetic wolf,"

He snarled at the half she Wolf, disgusted at the stench of death radiating from her form.

"You have still not answered my question, she-wolf. How are you still alive?"

Niah spoke suddenly, lifting her head, giving him a view of her proud form once again.

"I have the power to live on as long as I have enough energy remaining to circulate blood flow to my vitals,"

"So then what are you now?" King Bahn heard Niah ask.

"The previous priestess said I have the power of the undead. My daughter has it, she was supposed to serve the young heir when she reached her tenth realm cycle,"

"Serving her? The pup is dead, is she not?"

"No, the little one liv-"

A wolf appeared and ripped off the she wolf's head. Niah sat there digesting what was said while her mate attacked the wolf who had ripped off the head of the she-wolf.

The little one was still alive?

She felt confused. She had thought so, had mentioned it, but the realm was falling apart.

Many of those who dwelled within had died, this was because the one keeping it stable had died and the other was not present.

So if what the now dead she Wolf had said was really true, then they had hope.

Blood splashed on her right cheek, Niah who would normally be enraged smiled, her son had hoped she had hope.

It had already been decided that when the pup reached the age of fifty her son, the second-born can be bound to her but the she Wolf had disappeared fifteen suns ago.

Her son who seemed to have been connected to the she-wolf pup had gone crazy and was later forced into a deep slumber in order to preserve his life.

All this time she had worried, wondering how to save the one from her remaining cubs. But alas, the answer has been found.

"Your death was not in vain, she-wolf, I have your putrid scent. I will spare your pup only because your power will be useful to her,"

Niah said walking into the direction where the scent of fleeing wolves can be found emitting a roar Niah then departed, leaving her mate behind who was still lost in ripping the wolf apart.

"Mate, clean yourself and let us depart. The realm is destabilising more,"

"Yes my queen,"

Behind their departing forms, the wolf territory was left in destruction, the lions had made sure to leave none alive, not even sparing cubs and pregnant wolves all perished from their wrath.
