Chapter 20 - A woman's delusion

Hok Kitoko

Second born daughter from the first wife

Kitoko was not the first chosen to become the wife of the first family's firstborn son Pingui Hyemi, but she had wanted it.

Kitoko wanted to be with the first young master of the first family Pingui so bad, that she had done everything possible to her sister, in order for her, to achieve that goal.

Her eldest sister born from the same mother and father, had as well but that had been sabotaged by her.

Why is it because she was the older child that she would always receive the best things?

Her Kitoko, did not like it, as the younger one, Hikita should step aside and allow her to have it, that was fair.

At the tender age of four Kitoko saw Hyemi who was then five, his bowl cut hairstyle gave him a cut look except his eyes were cold, his skin was so white and flawless she ached to reach out and touch it but it would not be right.

Why would a child so young look at the world so coldly?

Kitoko had felt fear immediately but she had also felt that she wanted to be forever by his side.

Kitoko extremely beautiful small face broke out into a smile to show him that she meant no harm but he turned away from her to look at her eldest sister as if she Kitoko was nothing but passing wind!

After that Kitoko had met two years later at the funeral, Kitoko had watched his solemn face as the body was burnt and the ashes collected, scriptures were read and incense burned.

For the first time, Kitoko had seen him up close, but alas when Kitoko wished to say her Condolences her eldest sister Hikita had spoken first leaving no room for Kitoko to say anything to be noticed before anyone else.

"The first family's first young master, second born son and mistress pingui. On behalf of the Hok family, I would like to give my Condolences and light an incense stick,"

It had driven Kitoko almost crazy with jealousy while she struggled with all she had in order to stay calm, yet barely succeeding at that time. Still both her and Hikita bowed deeply before falling to their knees and performing a kotow to honour the dead.

The night after Kitoko trashed her room in order to calm herself, the image of the gentle carefree girl was gone replaced by a vindictive child just for that moment revealing her true self, still, once she was calm Kitoko had the servants cleaned it up replacing all that was damaged and returned to that once carefree girl again like nothing had occurred.

A year later it was spread in their household that her elder sister will marry him.

The engagement will be announced when her sister turns fifteen.

Kitoko had become sad for days unable to eat or stop crying, while her mother though kitoko had been sick but came to the realisation once she had become better that she had not been sick.

Kitoko hated my sister after that, whenever the pingui family visited Hikati was the one who sat beside him and conversed while her kitoko had to be further away pretending all was well.

It was not fair, Hikoto though hikita should just step aside and so she plotted on her tenth birthday she locked her sister with a older boy, when they were found her elder sister was dishevelled and shivering.

Their mother infested with fury had sent everyone away after a round of discussions, with no fuss from the first young master Pingui Hikoto saw that finally the time came and the engagement was not set for her sister but for her.

It had been so easy, a smile so blinding covered her face she could not hide filled her face while her sister cried in embarrassment and horror, Kitoko had a wonderful life ahead of her the life was exactly as she wanted.

So why was Hyemi distracted more than usual since the arrival of that girl?

Wasn't it that he found her Kitoko's beauty enthralling?

She had worked hard to be this beautiful using blood tonics for her blood to flow easier.

"Third miss I am sure everything will be alright,"

"Be quiet! Aish I don't get it what is it that I have done wrong? I just wished for him to hear my voice.."

Kitoko rambled on voicing her grievances out loud, young master Hyemi just closed the booklet, he had been reading and left, just like that. Taking only a few sips of her carefully prepared tea.

" Perhaps the first young master is a bit under pressure after all the family's miss will be entering school and there is the banquet both to introduce her-"

"Yes, yes it is like this. I am sure he treats me the best today it was because of pressure. Juaki get me silk paper ink and a brush,"

She commanded, since the young master Pingui likes to read booklets then she can write out a few poems.

When the maid returned with her desired objects kitoko then spent the night writing out famous poems.

One must know that her handwriting was extremely beautiful the results from practicing without much rest throughout the years.

The next day Kitoko sat in her hover vehicle and drove the distance to the Pingui's estate.
