(Last month at Regionals) I look at Ken, watching him get ready for the first fight in the Regionals. I worry about him but, I feel confident he can win the fights he has for today. My announcement only takes 5 minutes. I wanted to have Brett by my side. He said he didn't want to join me until later.
Ken is my Alpha mate but he is a second chance mate as well. My twin mate was killed unexpectedly and the Moon Goddess gave me Kennedy. Ken is more than just an Alpha, he really is the kind of man you can't help being drawn to. He treats his pack with the utmost care.
At first I was trying to fight the pull towards Ken because it is very rare to get a second chance mate. Very rare to move on and love another. It also was frowned upon. My father had been adamant about not wanting me to mate with Ken.
I knew how it looked but I couldn't help it. I didn't understand why the Moon Goddess had selected me to have this job. I was to lead the wolves as their Luna and help with the coven. This would make Australia the strongest wolf pack ever. Even the Royals wouldn't be as strong.
I watched Ken win the Regional tournament and move on to the Nationals. At Nationals it looked like Ken would be beaten by the cheating wolf. However, Brett placed a spell over the competition that no cheating would be successful. I was still so nervous.
Brett and I stood with fingers locked together to make the announcement of the beginning of the fights. These fights were very bloody, dirty and just plain old nasty. The animal in these men would be totally in control. This control made them ruthless.
I kept all the pups away from the National championship fights. They didn't need to witness the bloodlust. Ken was the total opposite of his wolf. His wolf had black eyes, and a black coat. The wolf stood taller than any other wolf at the competition. I secretly want him to win but, I worry about him facing my dad. Ken could actually win which concerned me for my father's sake. I didn't want anything to happen to either of them.
Ken saw me watching him but this time it wasn't really Ken. It was Angelo his wolf. Angelo began the fight with snipping at his opponents heels. Blood would squirt out until the other wolf could heal. This was like a game of cat and mouse. Bored I turned to walk away. The sound of a deep guttural growl brought my attention back to the fight Ken was in. Angelo had ripped out his opponents throat.
I couldn't look at the blood it made me want to vomit. I looked into Angelo's eyes caught by what I saw there. I couldn't look away from the emotions I saw. He was lonely to the point of desperation.
I walked forward as he dropped his trophy from the fight. I fell to my knees and wrapped my arms around his neck. He whimpered into my neck inhaling my scent as I held him. I ran my fingers through his coat. I looked into his black eyes searching for any love or affection. What I found was so much pain. I never knew this was behind Ken's wolf. I decided to find out why and make it better.
The next 2 fights were done right away. This left hours for families to explore. Brett brought out the boys for games. The girls were more into face painting so I took them for that. At dusk we all went inside for baths. I bathed the girls first and put them down. Brett read them a story before bed while I bathed the boys. After their bath I put them to bed before showering myself.
When I came out Brett hugged me from behind while telling me he was called to a meeting at the coven. We both hope this is the final vote we have been waiting for. I kiss him passionately before going to find Ken.
I find Ken talking to his pack leaders about day one. "Hello Luna", they greet me in unison. "Hi boys, I hope you don't mind but I need to borrow this guy please.", they look at Ken like he is suddenly in big trouble. I lock my fingers in his as I pull him away.
He follows me without a word until I shut my bedroom door. Suddenly he pushes me against the door for a kiss so deep I can't catch my breath. "Ken I need to talk to Angelo please.", I say as I break our kiss panting. He just nods at me like he knew that this was coming.
"Angelo, what are you hiding from me? Why do your eyes hold so much pain? Have I caused you this unspoken pain? Do you hate that I am your mate?", I hurl the questions at him like punches. For a minute he just looks at me shocked that I was questioning him.
"Goddess NO! You have been what saved me from the bottomless pit of pain. You are the only joy I've ever had. Anastasia before you I was unable to communicate my desires to Ken. From the day we met you I have been able to communicate what I need. I have wanted to talk to you but I wasn't sure. I didn't want to push you.", he explains.
"Can we talk now?", I ask. He nods before wrapping his arms around me. We talk for hours about the pack, the pups, he tells me that one is an Alpha like him. He tells me about his parents and how they died. He talks about everything he has been wanting to say. I lean into his chest tired from the long day. He pulls my chin up as we share our first kiss.
Angelo loves me and my other parts so I allow them to talk as well. My wolf jumps around in my head wanting out to mate with him but I can't change it will hurt the pups. I agree to let her use my body and he will use Ken's.
I sleep while they mate, afterwards Angelo carries me over to the bed. He tucks me in and leaves. Standing by the door is Brett. They look at each other before Brett comes over to my bed. He kisses my forehead. "Goodnight my dear Anastasia.", he whispers.
The next day I sleep wonderfully all day missing the fights. Everyone is aware that I have been extremely exhausted for weeks so they let me rest. Angelo comes to tell me of his victory. I wake as his paws hit the wooden floor. The click of his claws makes a very distinct noise.
After Angelo tells me about his victory Ken changes so he can shower off the blood. My heart is torn. Tomorrow is the final fight. I try to brace myself for the outcome. Ken dries off and sits on the edge of the bed. Brett slept here last night so tonight belongs to Ken. Ken gets into bed and pulls me over to him.
Brett comes in bearing a tray of food and drinks. He announces a picnic for the Luna and her pups. I kiss him and begin to eat. Suddenly I stop, jump up and run to the bathroom. The look of panic on my face makes my matesook at each other like what just happened.
When I return to the bed I explain that the pup kicked my bladder. Both men laugh but I just scowl at them. I actually love when we can joke together and things are easy between us. It makes me feel like I didn't make a mistake.
At first I didn't understand why the Moon Goddess insisted I need two mates. As I've grown into this relationship I now understand. I am growing into my Luna roll. I have been a warrior but never a lady. I now have to be a roll model for young women. The shewolves must learn how to be dignified as well as pure for their mates.
Brett was my true mate all along but because he was a twin I was mated to his other part. I love Rhett with all that I am but, I do understand more now. Rhett was my booster. My cheerful man. He made me see myself in a different way. He took me to another level as a woman.
Ken is the mate that was sent to make me a Lady. I was born Royal but, it never made me feel like a lady. Ken brings it out in me. Brett encourages my freedom and unique personality. Whereas Ken makes me want to do the best job I can as His Luna. His Lady.
Brett kisses my forehead and leaves after I finish eating. Ken turns off the light and pulls me into his embrace. "Babe do you feel good about tomorrow's fight?", I search his face for answers. The last fight is always very dramatic in that the winner asks the audience if he or she should kill the opponent. It makes me so nervous because he is part of my soul.
"Ana, my love, please rest assured that I will prevail. I will win and we will meet your father for the title. I'm not being mouthy it's just that with you at my side I will never give up. Our pups need me as much as I need them.", he pulls me in for a magnificent kiss.
I wake to the smell of breakfast and coffee. I moan as I stretch my body. When I wake I find Brett at the table beside my window. Ken is already training. Brett looks so serious about something. I pull him into a chair and plop my sexy ass down in his lap.
"Boo why do you look so serious this morning?", I poke his belly making him smile. "Honestly, lil mate, I'm scared for the pups. They have 2 more weeks in that belly, lil mama. They need every minute they can get. We can't have what happened to Irina happen again. I just want you to be safe and have healthy pups."
"Thank you babe. I am ok with Ken fighting. I would be in there fighting if I could. I don't think they would let me do you?", I giggle at the face he makes. He just starts feeding me to take our mind off the fight. I was supposed to close the fight but asked the Beta to do it. I just don't want to watch Ken fight.
Ken fights the first 5 rounds fine but in the 6th round the cheater uses wolfsbane. It is a poison to wolves. Getting weaker he mind links me explaining what happened. I rush to his side. He is in round 8. Two more to go. Brett puts a protection spell over him. This stops the cheater from continuing the assault with the poison.
I helplessly watch my mate struggle to remain standing as he fights the poison and the evil cheater. I want to get my hands on him so bad. My snake wants to rip his head off. The bell rings and they part. Ken has damaged the cheater enough to slow him down.
The 9th round is about to start but just before the bell I grab his hand and place it on my belly where his pups are kicking like mad. Angelo comes forward he makes a soothing sound almost like a purr. I know that he will be ok. The bell rings and Angelo changes midair.
Angelo comes toward his opponent with a growl that rumbles through the floor of the arena. I watch as he tears out the other wolf's throat. Blood is everywhere. Angelo comes over to me and drops the body part at my feet. I drop to my knees burying my face in his fur. I whisper "I love you!" into his wolf ear.
