I woke up to my own screams as I had the same nightmare of my father finding me and killing me. Coatl looked up from where he was next to me. "What's wrong? Why were you screaming most of the night?" He said, it was obvious that he didn't get much sleep.
I gasped and said, "You ssshould sssleep, I promissse that I won't wake you again. It wasss jussst a nightmare, one that I've had before. I'll be fine."
Coatl shakes his head, "No. I won't sleep until you tell me what your nightmare was about!" Coatl demanded.
I sighed and said, "Fine I'll tell you only if you promissse to sssleep afterwardsss." I looked at all the precious stolen jewels that surround me before looking directly at Coatl.
"I promise to sleep afterwards. Now tell me what your nightmare was about." Coatl said, looking entirely serious.
I sigh again before speaking, "It wasss about my father. He found me and killed me, it repeated over and over again before I woke up."
Coatl hugs me which surprises me and he says, "My parents abandoned me when I was only one week old. I lived in a series of foster homes but no one wanted to keep me for very long because I kept bringing home snakes so once I turned eighteen the foster care gave me a bit of money and let me leave." My heart began to beat just a bit faster and my blood ran cold, colder than normal, as he brushed the hair out of my face, his touch so gentle and caring.
"Get sssome sssleep... I'll make sssure no one findsss usss." I say, desperately wanting to go outside for some fresh air. Coatl nods and backs away, I quickly stand up and race outside, taking in big gulps of fresh air.
