Chapter 7 - This... Feeling... It's... Strange... And... New... But Now I have to Deal with Smugglers

As soon as I got outside I took a deep breath before releasing it a moment later. My heart was still rapidly beating so I closed my eyes and waited for my heartbeat to slow. "Wha-what i-isss thisss f-feeling? I... D-don't like it one bit. It t-turnsss m-my f-face red w-with b-blusssh." I stuttered to myself, pacing in the abandoned parking lot. Someone then pulled into the parking lot which caused me to become quite nervous. Two people climbed out of the car, a man and a woman.

The woman said to the man, "I thought you said no one would be here." I narrowed my eyes and silently moved closer to them without either one noticing.

"There wasn't anyone here nineteen years ago!" The man responded to the woman. I snarled and prepared to pounce when I heard hisses from the trunk of the car. This only made me angrier.

I grinned and whispered in the man's ear, "That'sss becaussse I wasssn't kicked out of my family nineteen years ago. Now releassse the sssnakesss in your trunk or be prepared to face the venom of a poisssonousss Desert Sssnake."

As soon as the man heard my voice he began to obey and moved to the trunk of the car. "What are you doing?" The woman said, angrily. I grinned and stuck out my forked tongue at the woman. "Sn-sn-snake!" the woman screamed and I covered her mouth.

"Ssshut up or I'll sssnap your neck. You don't want the copsss to find out that you're sssmuggling sssnakesss into the city." I said with an evil grin. "Let alone Sssnake-humansss." I added. The woman's eyes went wide with fear. We both watched silently as the man opened the trunk and released the snakes. I grinned and said, "Good job, now forget you ever sssaw me and leave. If you don't I'll alert the copsss." The man and woman nodded. I released the woman and watched as they got into their car and drove off. I gathered the snakes in my arms and headed back inside. There's only one Snake-human out of all five of them.

The Snake-human shifted, it was a woman, who smelled achingly familiar. "You smell familiar, why? You smell like my sister." the Snake-human said.

"A-aunt Viper?" I asked, tilting my head, she looked so much like mother that I had only to guess that this was the ever-vigilant sister that mother told me about just before she died.

Viper sneered and walked closer to me, sniffing me. "Why do you call me 'Aunt' when I do not have a niece or nephew." she asked.
