It's not like she hasn't killed anyone before. Everyone does.. in her world. It's normal but that did not mean she liked it.
Walking towards the bathroom to get herself cleaned, she sensed another's presence and turned to see none other than Harry Jester, the man she met in Alinea.
In truth, Harry has come to speak to her about her.. 'ban', but received great shock and pleasure. He enjoyed the words she spoke right before she killed his useless guard.
"H-Harry? What are you doing here?" She asked in surprise. She was greatly worried about him finding out that she killed a man.
"Well, seeing as you just killed my agent, I would expect an apology but instead I get this." He murmured. The woman was insane. But for some reason, in which he could very not understand, he liked it.
"That was your agent? Well, great, now I'll get sued. Hooray. Totally what I needed today." She grumbled, sarcastically. His agent?! Why couldn't the man just tell her before she stabbed him? Ughhh, not fair at all.
"You know, sarcasm isn't something that goes by well in my books." He spoke a little louder, not quite yelling, but it wasn't quiet.
"You must own quite a lot of books, then, Mr Jester." She spoke in the same tone as him, her posture strong.
He smiled, in which she returned.
"Now, what are you doing in my house? It's clearly midnight, what is a big shot like you doing in a measly woman's house like mine?" She asked.
"I thought the matter was obvious. You killed my agent," he spoke gently, as though she were a dimwitted child. Part of that was true, but he left out the other part in which he wanted to find out about her past.
"Your agent broke into my house. That's illegal, as you know. It was self protection."
"But he didn't do anything to you."
"He broke into my house."
He glared at her internally. Such a sassy girl. But still, he enjoyed it too much.
"Please leave. I have some cleaning to do," she said. She was unaware that his maids were already cleaning the mess of the mans blood, as she was to focused on the man in front of her.
"Don't you see these maids cleaning?" He asked, intrigued by her. She was a fairly interesting person to be around which he did not get.
"Well, no. You took my line of sight. But I was also talking about cleaning myself." She fires, glaring at him.
It was as though it didn't take any time at all, but in the next second, he took her jaw in his hand.
"What's with the attitude, Ms. Ballaster?" He taunted.
"Oh, you know fairly well what the problem is, Harry." She smiled with no hint of kindness. It looked intimidating, even with her cheeks scrunched up from his hand.
With that, Harry pushed the silly girls jaw back. "Don't talk to me like that. I could have you sued and killed in an instant." Obviously, he never meant it. He knew she could kill all of his guards off before doing anything.
"If I were to be sued, what would I get? A death sentence? You know perfectly well that is never going to happen, don't you?" She smiled, this time with true warmth. She knew he would never be able to kill her and she also knew that he knows that too. He was obviously humoring her, which she found to be amusing.
Harry smiled back, with warmth also. She looked beautiful when she smiles... then again, she looked beautiful doing just about anything. His smile lowered, internally slapping himself on the forehead at the thought. He could never fall for her, which he wouldn't.
"So, Harry, now that that had happened, what even were you going to do in my house?" She asked, staring at him skeptically while her smile lowered also.
"Oh, just you know, the usual." He grinned.
"What's the usual for you, Harry Jester?" She knew who she was talking to, so she still had to be precautious. That didn't mean she couldn't have fun. But what would he do to her which would be bad? Sentence her to death? She chuckled internally.
"Well, right now, the usual would be finding out about your past." He continued grinning, ignoring the glare towards him that threatened to throw him off a cliff.
She knew that it wasn't a good idea to tell him, but for some reason an unexpected warmth crawled on her cheeks, as well sweeping into her bones, making her feel appreciated.
"I won't tell you. It's personal and I don't want you to share it to the world." She said softly.. her insides felt warm, which she didn't understand. Was he doing this to her?
"Okay, okay, fine. But I have an offer under one condition." He spoke gently, matching her tone. Leaning close to her, making her breathing stop, he whispered in her ear, "if you fall for me by the end of the month, then you have to tell me." His words were like satin in her ears, velvety soft.
Once he leaned back, she gained her composure and said, "Is that necessary? Just to learn about my past?" She whispered.
"You don't know how important this is. I've walked on this earth for decades and then there's you, who has only arrived a few months ago. This is new for me, and I need you to understand that." He left out 1 more reason, which he would tell her about sooner or later. He worked for a special council, his second job. Although it is his 2nd job, it's the most important. His job required to find all of the 'humans' in the world.
She stared at him. With him this close, she noticed his broad shoulders, covered in a grey business suit. Underneath was a white collar button up t-shirt, with a red tie.
She was still covered in blood. It matted her hair, and her clothes were covered in it. She still wore the same clothes she left work in, a.k.a her apron and waitress look.
They stood quietly, staring at each other, before finally one spoke. "You know, that would be a good idea. I agree." She said in few words but at the same time, Harry's heart started to feel as if it would beat although it hasn't for years. He grinned.
Jinny looked at him, returning his grin. For some odd reason, her heart was behaving like a teenager was around their crush.
All of a sudden, Harry learned in and caught her lips in his.
"Ger-off.. me!" She mumbled, her eyes wide open in shock. She pushed him away with her arms to see him smile.
He had to know about it for work, so a kiss was the first thing to making her fall into his trap.
"What are you doing?!" She blushed, a faint color on her cheeks. Nobody has done this, not since...
No. She wouldn't think about that. Not him. Never. No, she thought.
Suddenly, the color drained from her face.
"Are you okay?" Harry said, noticing her small frown and glassy-eyes. Without receiving a response, she turned around and stalked towards the bathroom.
That made Harry wonder what caused her to react like this. Did she possibly have a past lover? He gritted his teeth, angered by the thought.
But if she did, what happened to him? He probably has died. Maybe. Or taken to prison for life. He got joyous suddenly. Whatever has happened, made her loose feelings for him. Or maybe he got sent to the mortal world, as they had?
He shook his head in an effort to get his jumbled thoughts together.
On the other side of the house, Jinny sat in the bathroom, staring at herself in the mirror.
Why did she walk out on him? Somewhere deep inside of her, slowly resurfacing, is the feelings she had for someone once, long ago.
She made sure, all those years ago, that she would never have these sort of feelings again. She no longer believed in love at first sight.
Seriously, is she stupid? She just met the man. *that means love at first sight*, she thought, despite herself. *But it's stupid to believe that crap!* another voice said.
Harry walked towards the bathroom door slowly, yet steadily. As he knocked on the door, he could feel the stiffness of the air around her in the room, even as he was on the other side.
"Hey, are you alright?" He asked. He was worried about her somewhere inside of him, and he wasn't afraid to admit those feelings, so he gave into them, accepting that maybe it was love at first sight.
She didn't speak for a while, but right when Harry was about to walk in, she mumbled; "Yes," so he nodded to himself on the other side of the door.
"I might as well go now. You should get some sleep, you have to get up in 4 hours," he grinned.
She groaned. "Shoot, I forgot! Ugh, okay. You can go now." She felt a little sad knowing he was leaving, but being stubborn, she pushed those feelings away and held her head high.
That night when she was asleep, that was when the dreams of Harry Jester had started.
