Chereads / The Man and the Waitress / Chapter 7 - Jinny Ballaster’s Issue

Chapter 7 - Jinny Ballaster’s Issue

The next morning, she woke up very groggy. As she sat up silently, the memories of the previous night had started to flood her mind, taking all of her attention.

The man whom she had been thinking about for the past days, has come to meet her? As in, Jinny herself? And while she murdered his guard? It didn't sit well with her. He was a big shot whilst she was a tiny waitress. But, they are both stronger than any other living thing. Or, I guess you could say "dead" leaving thing.

She murdered his guard.

His guard??

What was she going to do about that?

He's going to sue her, and she didn't doubt it whatsoever.

Turning over, her face and mind went blank. The clock read 9:18. She was late for work.

As she was about to get up, there was a note on the end of her bed, almost falling down the side.

She picked it up, a sudden anxiousness bubbling in her system, and opened the note carefully, as though it were more precious than anything in the world.. no, the universe.

ᦔꪮꪀ'𝓽 ᭙ꪮ𝘳𝘳ꪗ. ꪗꪮꪊꪶꪶ ᥇ꫀ ꫝꪖꪜ𝓲ꪀᧁ ꪖ ᦔꪖꪗ ꪮᠻᠻ.

- ꫝꪖ𝘳𝘳ꪗ 𝓳.

A day off? But she just began the job a few days ago? She wasn't aloud a break until at least 3 weeks after. Some things don't add up.

As she lay in bed, the note still clutched in her hand tightly, she fell back and her eyes stared at the ceiling.

Within a few minutes, her thoughts were clouded as she drifted back off to a dreamless sleep.

-.-.-.-.-.-

Harry left the house at 6:37am, placing the note which he wrote on her bed.

She looked flawless while she slept. For minutes he sat there, staring at her. He noticed every detail about her. The perfect curve of her body, the fox eyes which pierced through his soul (if he had one) when she looked at him.

Harry arrived at the mansion at night, and as soon as he got into his room, he fell on his bed and slept.

...

"Harry!! HARRY!" Harry's cousin, Gabby Maree, shook him, in hopes of him waking up.

After five minutes of shaking him with her arm, he finally snapped his eyes open.

"What? Who's there? What the hell happened?" He spoke quickly, sitting up.

Gabby looked at him, and started to laugh loudly, which received a stern look from Harry.

"Gabby? What are you doing here?" Finally recovering from his mean-act to give her a small smile.

Gabby was a professional artist, with golden brown hair and the brightest blue eyes. She was mixed, and anyone could easily say she was beautiful with her big, round, innocent eyes.

She was taken in to be a strict and stern person, always on time and never too late. But, only few people knew who she really is. She's kind, extremely helpful, and will gladly take a bullet for anyone. Even those who are rude.

Harry and her were close, like siblings. They never got in fights, they never have done anything against each other. If someone were to say anything rude about the other, they were quick to snap back.

The cousins have always been close, since they were young. No matter the 4 year difference whilst Gabby was older, they were like best friends. One lived far away from the other, Gabby being in Texas.

"Oh, you know, just wanted to see my favorite cousin." She said, a smile taking over her features.

"I'm your only cousin, Gabby." He corrected, smiling mischievously.

"So? Still my favorite. Is it aloud for you to also be my favorite family member?" She asked, unfazed by his darkened gaze.

"I'm also your only family member..." he said quietly.

"Oh come on, Hare bear. It's been years. Centuries, actually. You have to lighten up." She had gotten over the gruesome deaths of their family members, which was from their past lives as humans. This resulted in them becoming 'evil', and being sent to the place which all wish to not go: hell. This resulted in the turning of what they are. But now they were both kicked out from the land, forced to live upon the greedy, disgusting creatures. Humans. No less to an animal.

Unlike her, Harry never has gotten over it. They were the ones who murdered their whole family, the other cousins, grandparents, great grandparents, uncles and aunts... the whole lot. Both of them were corrupted with some sort of curse, which stayed for days until many people were gone. They didn't kill each other, being affected with the same curse which they still hadn't found out the reason to be.

Harry felt horrible. He still did. This resulted in his character becoming one as dull and boring as a rock. A rock with a sore past. A rock with hard feelings that took a lot to crush. A rock who recently started to believe in love at first sight.

"Hello? Your dozing off, Harry." She said lazily. Seeing him no response, she said;

"Your late for work."

His head snapped towards her, all attention returnes. His gaze suddenly turned to one of anger. "What? What time is it?" He said angrily, sitting up to straight his hair. "I'm a CEO of a whole damn company, I can't be late!" He fumed on, talking to himself more than her.

"Chill, Harry." She said, which earned her an annoyed look form Harry as he got out from bed.

"Bro, calm down. I was joking. I asked Chester for a day off for yourself, as you haven't had one in-"

Suddenly interrupting, Harry fumed even worse. "You what?! A day off? I haven't had one in years, Gabby." he yelled loudly. He closed his eyes, making an effort to calm himself.

She looked at him, annoyed yet unfazed by his emotion change. This man was upset because he gets a day off? He's absolutely crazy.

"I was going to mention, that little girlfriend of yours wants to see you." She scoffed.

He rolled his eyes. His cousin loved to set up girls for him, seeing as he is lonely and boring and needs a light that will be brighter than the sun in his life.

"Is it one of those dates you set up? Because if it is, I will remind you—" only to be cut off by Gabby.

"No no, no. I swear. I'm fact, you know perfectly well who this one is. She called you this morning, seeming as you have her number, you have to be acquainted." She smirked swiftly.

He gave her a confused look, before something sunk in. "Was it Jinny?" He asked, a bit of excitement coursing through him.

"Yes. She said she needed to talk to you about something. So, you best call her back. She sounded pretty worked up." She smirked once more, only to have it fade. "Did you do something to her?" She matched right up to him and slapped him when he gave her a wide smile. The smile faded as she made the action.

"Hey! I didn't even answer." She gave him a pointed look, one which might have been the meaning of 'tell the truth'. Deciding he could never hide anything from her, he answered. "Yes, yes I did. I'm going to be courting her." He admitted shamelessly, picking his fallen grin back up.

"Also, I won't need to be calling her." He grinned widely once more, gaining her full attention.

Poor, poor girl, She thought.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

After Jinny finished the call directed to Harry, which was answered by a woman who sounded of her age, made her heart sink a little, which she did not know why. Its not her business to care whats in that office or out of it. I have never felt love since Heaven.... she thought. 'What? Love? Pfft, no....' she took back her thoughts.

She got up, ran out of her completely disorganized room into her closet, to get dressed for the day. A messy bun and an old T-shirt, a long with a pair of sweatpants. She was going to have a lazy day today, seeing as she stayed up later than she thought last night. Ugh, Harry Jester.

After getting dressed quickly, she went to the kitchen and grabbed a bowl. The bowl was hard with unique, floral designs. Dying roses. It was a beautiful bowl, strange to think but truth be told.

She got her favorite cereal from the cupboard, Lucky Charms. Ooh, this one had little unicorns in it! Awesome, she thought.

As she went to grab the milk from the refrigerator, her phone suddenly buzzed. She went to pick it up, closing the fridge door.

The contact on her lock screen read, 'Mr. Harry Mean-face'.

She stared at the screen for a second before opening her phone. The message read:

𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗲.

The thought for a second before she replied,

𝗢𝗸𝗮𝘆, 𝗯𝗼𝘀𝘀𝘆.

She thought for a second before finally running to her closet and getting dressed. While she was in there, she couldn't help but wonder what was going on.

She dressed into a khaki colored skirt with a dark blue blouse, and tying her hair into a simple ponytail with a few strands of hair left out of it. Simple yet nice. She got the outfit idea from Twilight, when Bella was going to meet Edward's family. It was one of her favorite scenes in the book, it made her happy. She hoped that her love story could be as amazing as Bella and Edward's.

As she ran out of the room, hoping there were still time for her favorite cereal which she was craving for, she ran out only to find an unknown, elderly male outside of her door, with his hand raised to knock. His assistant. Behind the man, was none other than Harry Jester.

She glared internally at Harry. How annoying, she thought. Did she ever get time alone, besides for sleep? She's always around someone and it annoys the non-existent hell in her.

"I see your trying to not hate me, now that you've looked me up on that phone of yours." He smiled, waiting for her sarcastic response as usual. He thought she would act surprised that he went through her phone before he left last night.

She gritted her teeth in response. "Your right. You have much better status than me." She made a very forced smile, one that was easily seen through like water.

"Ah, so no smart-mouth response? I liked that quality about you." He grinned widely, annoying her to every bit.

"I don't know, should there be a response? It might get me 'killed', seeing as your one of the CEOs of the highest standing operations." She gave a tiny, sarcastic smile which instantly fell.

"Yes... probably." He said, matching her tone. "Anyways, are you coming or not?" He spoke, knowing that she had no clue where they were going.

"Where? You may have better status than me but that does not mean you have control over me, Mr. Jester." She hummed.

"Calm down. I was going to take you to eat." His voice was stiff with authority, which Jinny couldn't refuse in the end, no matter how much she protested with her thoughts. She felt excitement course through her slowly from the mystery where they were going to eat.

She rolled her eyes. "Fine. I'm hungry, so how far away?" Harry was quiet surprised of her lack of shock. She was quick to agree which made him suspicious. "What are you looking at?" she questioned, narrowing her eyes.

"Oh, you know, just a very beautiful person," he flirted.

This brought a little heat to her neck, and she tried to push it back before it could reach her cheeks. She failed, the small blush taking over her pale face.

"That's unfair." She muttered, her eyes in the floor.

"So, you like me then?" He mocked, grinning again.

"Actually, I'm surprised from your shamelessness. And also, I met you a few days ago. I can't be sure if I could trust you."

"You trust me enough to have you fall in love with me by the end of the year, as apart of a deal? Crazy woman." He murmured the last part.

"That's because I know it well not to happen. And if I fall in love, I need to make sure the other loves me back and has time to talk with me every day. A healthy relationship," she stated.

Just these few words explained a bit about how she was. And he couldn't wait to learn more.
