Crystalline Eyes. A very rare naturally born ability to healers. This gives the user the ability to see any abnormalities such as spirits, malice, toxins, and other things that cannot be normally seen with even the most advanced vision magic. He turned around to her and briefly looked at the door to check if the door was locked; it was. He immediately pinned her to the wall and she let out a yelp for help but Akashi stopped her from doing so by covering her mouth. He put a finger over his lips and looked intently at her eyes as he softly spoke.
"Calm down... I'm just verifying a suspicion of mine. The fact that you can see my spatial storage is not normal..."
"Mmph!"
She had realized her mistake and squirmed around but he kept a tight grip on her left hand, pinned to the wall. His face came closer to hers and her squirming became less frantic as she prepared for the worst. He let go of her but helped her stabilize so that she wouldn't fall onto the ground and he looked at her with a stern look.
"..."
"I'm sorry about that, I just wanted to make sure you have the crystalline eyes.", He smiled for a bit.
She stood there in shock for a moment but before she could speak, he held his finger across his lips.
"However, I would ask of you to keep this observation to yourself... or I will have to silence you. Do you understand Namo?"
She nodded
"What... what was that if you don't mind me asking." She feared that she may be pushing the bounds that were set but he was ready to answer.
"What you saw there was my ability. It stores my items and weapons like a backpack without the weight of one and the limitations of storage... here, take this." He tossed her a bag of coins that appeared out of nowhere.
She was surprised when the bag came out of nowhere but was more surprised at what he gave her. She opened a bag and looked at him with a surprised look.
"Aren't these... gold royals?!"
He nodded and when he did, she tried to put the bag back into his hands but he had put them back into the pocket of his uniform, refusing the return of the coins.
"Tell me this Namo... how much did they give you for going out and spending for commodities inside the academy? As far as I can tell, outsiders cannot give money to the students. The food is relevantly priced right, but don't you want to explore all of the shops around? You can earn money if you win tournaments... but you're a healer with no offensive capabilities. The only other way that you can earn money and is legal in this institution is through transactions with other students. That's where things can get a little shady. This school discriminates against those on the non-combatant side."
She flinched when he said all of that and it was true, nobody from the outside can give money to students to use. Students usually get five gold royals to go towards meals and such from the school but freelancers such as healers usually get five gold, enough to pay for the cheapest meals each day until the next semester starts: six months. Even though students can bring their own money into the academy, but since the tuition for the institution is relevantly high, many come into the academy with nothing much unless they were filthy rich. Even though Namo is part of a famous guild consisting of five people, the rewards she got are 1/10 of the rewards. Far less than what Echo makes, and he's also supportive like her. She held the bag tightly and looked at him questioningly as giving her this sort of money could mean one or two things for her.
"How do you know about my situation with money? I'm not only talking about what the school allocates, but I'm also talking about my expenses..."
He shrugged and looked put as he pointed at her coin bag and the room.
"This room must have cost quite a bit. By the way, I see things, you don't want to be living in an unsecured room versus having luxury... This room has more hardcore security than the normal one's due to the magic sensor on the door."
She nodded and opened her mouth but he continued
"And due to the amount it must have cost for you to get this dorm for the premium, it must have cost quite a bit... two gold royals and five gold is my guess... and by the looks of your coin bag, you only have two gold left, not including the gold royal the school allocated."
She reached to her coin bag in disbelief.
He was right.
There was only a total worth of two gold pieces left in her coin bag. She realized she didn't want to eat the same bland meal each semester. She would also need money to get enhanced study material and training equipment. She got a sudden chill up her spine and looked at him with fear.
"W-What exactly do you want in return then?..."
This is where she got worried as sometimes when students exchange money between different genders, it involves one-time ownership over the other person for a night. She closed her eyes as he went to answer her inquiry, but what came out was unexpected. A sigh.
"Look Namo, all I ask of you is to keep this between the two of us... as you know the nature of one of my abilities. I ask that you would keep your lips sealed about what you've seen today. I also ask that we have a good relationship between ourselves... is that too much to ask for?"
This is not what she was expecting. With this amount of money, this would be considered the above-average pay for an impoverished family in 5 years. She took the seven gold royals and nodded silently. He looked at her leather case and picked it up. She reacted almost immediately as she tried to grab the bag but he shook his head as he insisted on helping her with the luggage. He was looking around and only found one bedroom. He set her stuff down and helped her unpack. His eyebrow raised.
"It seems the instructor gave us the wrong room... or this was his devious plan from the beginning..."
He looked at her and sighed.
"I'll sleep on the couch in the living room from now on. I think it would be better if you get ready for bed Namo"
He turned around and was about to walk out but he felt a grip on his sleeve and turned around.
"Namo?"
She was gripping the sleeve lightly and he looked at her for a moment.
"What's the matter Namo?"
She looked at him and looked at the single bed in the bedroom.
"You're not going to make the bed?"
He shook his head
"No, it would be quite... an awkward relationship between us two if I were to sleep in the bed with you. So I will be sleeping on the couch."
She loosened her grip and nodded with this statement and went off to bed.
