Chapter 3 - Well isn't this just great

I am not Kakashi's friend. I do consider him my friend. But I am not his friend. I'm not going to beat myself up over this news I'm sure we'll look back on it and laugh as adults. Actually no we won't as well not even be teenagers we'll be twelve years old at most as apparently were legally considered adults once we graduate.

On one hand ill be "legally" an adult much faster than I thought. Then there's the other much more mangled hand something tells me most aspiring Shinobi aren't mentally adults in the body of a child who are capable of handling themselves.

I hope.

Going back to the Leaf Villages view on child work ethics, the possibility that I participate in a war fresh out of the Academy is very real.

You know as there is a war going on.

I don't know how I went this long without hearing a single thing about the war that's been going on for three years. But I did and now I have to worry about poor Sakumo. When he said he's returning to active duty i didn't know it meant he was returning to fight in a war between Shinobi Villages.

Let's talk about something a bit more positive only a bit though. Normally a new student joining the class would be a good thing, a new potential friend, maybe even a best friend but sadly this is a place that teaches children how to survive long enough for them to learn to kill. So a new student isn't something to celebrate.

But he's here now so I'll welcome him.

"Oi Kakashi make some room. I want the new kid to sit with us." I was able to secure Kakashi as a set buddy when his fan club keeped fighting over who got to sit next to him.

His name is Might Guy. That's the best name I've ever heard.

"Hey Guy-san," waving my hand at the nervous boy.

Moving over Kakashi finally made some space. Patting the open area Guy took a set looking more comfortable then he did before.

"Its nice when my kindness isn't looked at with distan, Kakashi." All I got in return was a glance.

"Anyways my name is Sozo Akinori and this is Kakashi but you seem to already know him?" I asked, Kakashi had a look of Reconciliation.

When it came to dealing with Kakashi I had the best sensei his own father so I was pretty confident in reading his face mask and all.

"Yes we meet when the Academy started,"

"Really i went home with them that day I must have just missed you." Sakumo makes great tea.

I doubt sensei whatever his name was would tolerate any more casual conversation so we turned our attention back to him, seriously I forgot his name and every time he's mentioned they just say sensei.

Academy went on as normal with the more interesting part being physically part of the day which thankfully didn't just consist of physically training but more general stuff about proper health, diet, etc . You know the important stuff half the class didn't bother to do more than write down.

And chakra theory, my favorite part.

After Academy Kakashi disappeared, knowing I couldn't find him even if I tried so I walked out with Guy. Saying my goodbyes to Guy I took a right and went straight for the Academy training grounds.

I caught a glimpse of a man with wonderful facial hair dressed in green. Guys father i presume as the two left together.

I wonder if Guy's father would be interested in joining me for tea at Sakumos some time?

I thought about pulling my punches going straight for a ring out, inflicting as little damage as possible. They are just kids after all but that's exactly why I won't go easy on them. They are kids I hate to say it but chances are more than half of us won't make it to fifteen years of age.

Is it wrong that I don't plan on trying to change anything about this world that all I'm really interested in is Chakra?

Do I have a moral response to try and change this world even if it's just a little?

I try not to dwell on these thoughts as I block a fist from a nine year old before hitting him in the jaw sending him to the ground. He looks quite upset about losing to a five year old, hopefully that will push him.

The match is called and I return to the side lines.

Might be a little obvious that I'm not in a good mood.

I was taken to the hospital for a check up. I was told they wanted to check up on me to make sure I wasn't relapsing.

I am not a fool.

I know I should be dead

I know I recovered far too quickly even for this world's standards.

I know my physiology is unique, that waking up able to feel chakra clear as day doesn't just happen.

There has to be a reason.

This village is determined to find out what makes me special.

Obviously I was suspicious but what was I supposed to do? They asked nicely but clearly I didn't have a say in it.

I haven't even got to the worst part.

I apparently passed out. Complete bullshit. I didn't pass out, they need me unconscious. Probably drugged me, last time I accept water in this village. Once I woke up I was fed some crap about future check ups to monitor my condition that were mandatory of course.

I don't even know what they did.

I woke up quite dizzy and lightheaded so if I had to guess quite a bit of my blood is not in my body, even my fingernails were clipped. You name it and they probably took a sample.

I don't know what the future holds but something tells me if I didn't join the Academy when I was approached in the hospital I wouldn't be around today to complain.

"Morning Kakashi."

"Get out of my house," spoke Kakashi who probably just woke up.

"I made breakfast," taking a seat Kakashi begrudgingly pulled down his mask to take a bite.

We didn't speak for the rest of the meal so he probably liked it.

"Kakashi, can you train me?" Now I have his attention.

"Why would I waste my time training you?"

"Look, I don't expect you to become my Master, just spar with me every other day. You don't even have to talk to me just… kick my ass, exploit every opening, force me to adapt to your every move, teach me the hard way… please," Kakashi seemed off-put by the sudden change in atmosphere.

"Fine," Kakashi said as he got up, " but you have to make me breakfast on those days."

"I can do that, Sensei," Kakashi glanced back at me before leaving.

-------------------------------------

this is the third version of this chapter. I now have a folder with unused drafts for this story, who knows maybe they will fit in somewhere else.

the first one featured Obito getting burned, I won't tell you how.

the second one took place at the end of the first day of the Academy and had a lot more Guy in it plus a bit of Sakumo. while in the beginning of this chapter take place on Guy's first day.

there was nothing wrong with the first draft just felt it was too early for what happened to happen.
