Chereads / The Nymph of Dawn / Chapter 2 - Lucent

Chapter 2 - Lucent

She tried to catch her breath and clutch her chest as she felt the pain she have never experienced before. The pain is unbearable and she could barely breath. All she want to do now is to ripped her heart off her chest to get rid of it. She have no idea what's causing it and neither does she know why she is feeling that way. All that she is aware is the excruciating pain in her heart. It feels like it is hammering her heart and cutting it pieces by pieces that it even threatens to destroy her whole being.

She shouted as another pain assaulted her. Tears started to roll in her eyes as she looked around and cried for help but no one seems to hear or see her. People are just passing and doing their usual business. What? Is she invisible? Why can't they see her? Why can't they hear her?

"Help! Please help me!" She cried again but no one even bothered to look. They don't care that a girl is writhing in pain or maybe dying on that grassy corner. As another pain came, her knees buckled and she is forced to kneel on the ground. Her other hand landed on the thorny grass as she fell to support her body from falling while the other hand is clutching her chest.

The pain in her other hand caused by the thorns is nothing compared to the pain in her chest. She can't barely feel nor see that her hand is bleeding. She wonders what is wrong with her? What is happening to her?

She cried out once more hoping that someone would notice her but to no avail. It was then that she realized that people couldn't hear her. No matter how loud she shout, no voice is coming out of her mouth.

As realization hit her, another pain attacked. This time more painful than the last, threatening to rip her heart into two. She can almost feel the pull on each side and she can almost feel her heart being ripped. She clutched her chest tighter hoping that it would somehow lessen the pain while trying to catch her breath.

God! She feels like dying or maybe she is dying. At that moment, she realized, she'd prefer to die. Death would be a piece of cake as compared to the pain, it would be a relief.

Is she already in hell? It makes her wonder why she is still alive. Feeling this kind of pain is akin to dying. This is humanely impossible. No human could bare this kind of suffering.

Yes! Death is certainly a better choice. Why fight it? She then closed her eyes to accept her fate but instead of being welcomed by the darkness, a blinding light approached her. So blinding that it penetrates even with her eyes closed.

She opened her eyes slowly and saw a man tenderly looking at her. He is covered by that blinding light, dressed in nothing but a flimsy white and gold skirt that resembles the clothes of the ancient roman warrior. His hair is long and raven black. His other hand is holding a golden bow and she can see the golden arrows protruding at his back. But the one thing that really caught her attention are his eyes. His eyes are the lightest of blue that she can almost see his soul. It was so clear, so vivid and so mesmerizing. His eyes that speaks of mercy and love.

She can't stop herself from looking at his eyes that she have forgotten the pain in her chest. His presence is like a soothing balm to her aching heart.

She looked at him and was awed at his magnificence. He seems so ethereal and so surreal. He looked like an angel or maybe he is an angel. Her guardian angel.

Her angel looked at her without smiling and slowly outstretched his hand to her. She was unable to stop herself from crying. At last! Someone could see and hear her.

The angel knows that she is in pain.

"Don't." He said when she is about to reach for his hand. Even his voice is heavenly. Then he started to kneel down in front of her and put his bows down. He looked at her before he took her hand that is clutching her heart.

Then a miracle happened, the pain in her heart stopped. She looked at him in awe unable to remove her gaze from his glorious face. She then felt his hand caressing her cheek and brushing her tears. Another fresh tears started falling from her eyes. She was captivated, she was mesmerized and she can't take her eyes off him.

He didn't say anything. He just kept on brushing the tears on her cheeks then his face lowered down on her. Somehow her heart knew what is going to happen and her eyes automatically close in anticipation for his kiss. She waited and waited but it didn't came.

Instead, she heard a velvety yet firm voice not far away.

"Lucent!"

She opened her eyes and searched for the person behind that voice.

Her eyes met the eyes of the most beautiful woman she have ever seen. Her skin is flawless white, her hair a shiny blond, her pointed nose complimented her perfect pink lips. The word beautiful would be blasphemy. Her beautiful face is not as angelic as the guy in front of her. Her eyes looked deadly and in her clinched hands glint a diamond double sword. Fear gripped her heart upon looking at the beautiful woman in front of her. Beautiful but deadly.

Her eyes focused on the woman's wings. Yes, she have wings. Wings that shines like sapphire and eyes that blazed like rubies. Her dress and armor shines in blinding colors made up of different gems.

She looked at the winged woman face again and immediately fear crept into her heart. Her beauty might be unearthly but by just looking at her she wanted to run away. That woman's face held no mercy and her ruby eyes are poised to kill.

"Traitor!" She heard her say and raised up her arms and aimed her double sword at the man she called Lucent. Lucent didn't move. He didn't even looked up at the woman.

She tried to catch his eyes but all she could see from his clear blue eyes are regret and guilt. He has no plans of avoiding the deadly sword. He gave her a sad smile before he closed his eyes.

Her eyes grew wide in horror as she saw the woman's hand lowered to strike him. She hurriedly gathered all her strength to protect him and take the blow but its too late,

She is too late and she can't do anything but shout.

"Noooooooo!" She shout and cried with all her strength as she saw the double sword cut off the man's head.

She suddenly felt that she is falling. She struggles to grab anything but she can't see nor touch snything. She just fall and falls to an unknown until someone jolted her.

"Crystal! Crystal!You're dreaming again."

She suddenly stood up and breathe a lungful of air as if she have been deprived of it since time immemorial.
