The Skylord Everflame!
Back when Bas King achieved the rank of Pharaoh God, he started to practice the diamond class divinity, the Skylord Everflame! Though the flame had chosen him at birth, Bas had to ascend to godhood to taste its true power. The skills one perfected as a pharaoh god would carry down to their descendants through soul resonance as long as they had met with Osiris in the afterlife. As a former pharaoh god, Bas didn't need resonance, he had his own soul which had already merged with his diamond class divinity.
"I only need to reach the fifth level of Hunt Foundation, Fifth Class, and I'll immediately be able to sense my hunter soul," Bas King was suddenly optimistic about the future. "Unfortunately, I've been stuck at the third level of the Hunt Foundation rank for three years now. In other words, my soul power is only rank 13. Without rank 15 soul power its impossible to sense the hunter soul, let alone awaken it. However, my everflame seems to have started to awaken. I believe I'll start to advance normally soon. Tsk, for now, let's just use my father's arte until I reach the fifth level Hunt Foundation and I can condense a natal flame seed."
Bas was already sixteen this year and he could have cultivated using his father's arte since the moment he awakened in this body two years ago, but he didn't think it was good enough. He'd prefer to not train at all, rather than build up a shaky foundation that could be blown over by the wind. His father's arte was one that could at most become a mere bronze record once trained to the acme. Although it was very valuable to anyone under Hunter Third Class, Bas was unable to place it in his eyes at all. However, things should be fine as long as he used it as a base to practice his Qi Production.
"The Death Sovereign Record emphasizes conquering death with soul power to produce hunt qi. The death qi is highly corrosive and dangerous to vital qi. This record is a mere double layered arcane circle with four runic imprints. Should be easy to draw, but the hard but should be resonating with the Death Sovereign Constellation," Bas King closed his eyes and used his hunt qi to slowly form the Death Sovereign Hunter Record arcane circle in his qi pool.
It looked like a circular framed picture of a menacing War Sovereign in spiked armor. To create a soul record, one had to make their own soul power resonate with the specific constellation for their arte. Alternatively, one could absorb the soul core of a soul beast to condense a soul record.
The second option seemed to be the most common one in this era.
Twelve hours later, the sun had long since vanished as Bas King's forehead was thick with beads of sweat, filthy impurities covering his skin. His younger sister had called out to him several times from the other side of the door, but he hadn't noticed. However, right as the sun started to peak through his window once more, the sound of thick glass breaking came from Bas' body, and qi momentum shot up in a huge storm all around him, throwing his bedroom immediately into heavy disarray.
"WOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAHHHHH!" Bas King's eyes glowed with a mysterious light as soul power swarmed into his body in tides from the hunting array beneath himself. His hunter rank which had been dormant for years was now climbing at a terrifying pace. Using his spiritual senses he could see the Death Sovereign Record in his qi pool shining brightly as it circulated, and he almost felt as if a power bar was rapidly filling up with energy, until it reached the top and then, BINK!
Fourth Level Hunt Foundation! Soul power rank 14!
Vrrrrmmmmmm...
BINK!
Fifth Level Hunt Foundation! Soul power rank 15!
Vrrrrmmmmmm...
BINK!
Sixth Level Hunt Foundation! Soul power rank 16!
Vrrrrmmmmmm...
Bas King's level increased by three in one sitting! He was already in the latter half of the Hunt Foundation rank also known as the earthen foundation. The power bar rapidly filled up with hunt qi once more, only this time it was unable to reach the top. Bas King tried to push it forward a couple of more times before he relaxed and meditated to consolidate his progress.
"Awesome, too awesome!" Bas King was elated after he stood up and completed his training. "Three levels in one night, who else could do this with a mere wood class record in their qi pool? I haven't even spun it to the bronze class yet, and my results are already so outstanding. It turns out this brat was truly very talented. I suppose if he wasn't, I wouldn't have awakened for quite some time."
Bas King suddenly felt that this descendant of his, Sebastian, was actually robbed of his good fortune. He felt pangs of pain and discontent somewhere in the depths of his soul, and this made him feel a wave of guilt in his consciousness. This should be the remnant will that was left behind by Sebastian King. Since this was the case, Bas intended to live enough for both of them, "My poor pathetic descendant, do not worry. I have inherited your memories and your ambitions. I will not let you down. I will not let my mother in this life suffer any longer. I will not let my uncle and cousins get away with their betrayal. I will not even let that irresponsible father off easily for abandoning his children and wife. Although I understand he may have been forced by the circumstances, he could have at least accompanied us if he were a man. It is time for our glory to be manifested. The name Sebastian King will be known all over the world!"
Bas King first went into the bathroom to take a quick shower. He was filthy, afterall, covered in the dregs of impurities and contaminants that were pushed out from his meridians when his hunt qi ascended. After walking out of the bathroom in his robe, feeling completely refreshed, Bas took a moment to bask in the changes of his body. His senses were about ten times more active then yesterday, and his qi pool had also quadrupled in size. His muscles were tighter and more robust. He practiced some regular martial arts briefly to stretch his body, before walking out to find his mother.
Upon walking into her bedroom cautiously, Bas saw that his mother was actually still sleeping soundly next to his younger sister, Ebony. She had likely worn herself out, and didn't even notice Bas breaking through. Ebony looked up from her phone and smiled at her big brother, holding a finger over her lips to signal silence.
"Big brother, you're finally up," Ebony crept out of bed and pulled her brother to the side. "Mommy will be really mad if we miss school, let's go~."
His sister wore a pout and looked wronged. Ultimately, Bas decided not to wake his mother for now. He needed to drop off Daz and Ebony before heading to school himself. Bas decided he would surprise her later once he came home from school.
"Holy crap, school!" Bas King's eyes went wide at his sister's reminder. He had almost forgotten.
Today he had school all morning and work all afternoon. The school alone was ninety miles away from his home. Sebastian had originally believed this to be some petty and sick joke of his father. However, Bas King knew better. There was obviously only one reason why his father would set such an obstacle for him. Training! Even if his son couldn't become a powerhouse, Nuru King refused to let him be a silk-pants young master. Bas was expected to earn his keep and take care of his mother! He had no time to dally.
"Yo Daz, where are you kid? We need to get out of here!" Bas King called out as he swiftly got dressed for school.
Dazzle King was Sebastian's baby brother. He turned 10 this year, and had already started to eagerly follow in his older brother's footsteps. Merely, due to the lack of resources in the Mortal Realm, Daz had only reached the eighth level of Hunt Neophyte. Still, compared to the mortals of this realm, Daz was already stronger than most adult hunters.
"Coming, big bro!" Daz's young voice ring out from one of rooms upstairs, as the the boy himself slid down the banister and landed in front of Bas. "Bro, did you breakthrough again last night? Your hunt qi is was crazy this morning!"
Bas looked at his baby brother in astonishment. Even if Daz was nearing the Hunt Foundation rank, he shouldn't be able to sense the changes in Bas' body so easily right? 'Perhaps little Dazzle King is also a hidden genius...he seemed to have the potential to become a Qi Producer!'
"Really? You finally advanced?" Ebony looked up at Bas with curious excitement. Seeing that the latter didn't deny it, she immediately cheered and hugged his arm, "Yay! All your hard work is finally showing results! Congratulations, big brother."
Ebony was only at the second level of Hunt Neophyte, in spite of being three years older than Daz. Her eldest brother's cultivation was a complete enigma to her senses.
"Enough guys, we're going to be late. Daz, go get our bikes."

Forty minutes later...
After escorting his siblings to school, Bas King rode his hoverbike to exit the sky channel. He pedaled rapidly to a pink building that looked like it spent too much time staring at a fun house mirror. After arriving, Bas projected his voice loudly using hunt qi, "This princess, your mighty knight as arrived to escort you to school. Do come and take my arm!"
"This idiot," when Lucara heard that obnoxiously loud voice outside of her window, she slapped her own forehead with a palm. Still, she felt sweet inwardly and smiled brightly. 'Bas really came here just to pick me up? Maybe he really does favor this princess...'
Lucara Angels was born in a noble family that ran several businesses throughout Kennesaw Metropolis. She was accustomed to men drooling over her, even men far older than herself. This was especially true now that her past memories had returned.
However, this Sebastian King was different.
Actually, initially Sebastian exactly the same as the other guys. Secret admirers with lecherous thoughts, all stalking Lucara with their intrusive gazes. The past Sebastian dared to look only when he felt she wouldn't notice, and the lust in his eyes during those moments was quite obvious. Lucara felt confident that she understood his personality after sharing a classroom with this shy, somewhat mysterious, and quiet guy for a year. She was ready to make him her first victim. However, Sebastian suddenly fell terribly ill for two weeks. Most of the class barely noticed his absence, other than the few girls whom were smitten with this handsome and quiet stranger.
But Lucara had noticed that Sebastian's vital life force had always seemed feeble and unimpressive from the day she met him in class for the first time, so she knew that this Hunt Foundation, Fifth Class hunter had suffered severe, potentially fatal, injuries in the past.
He was not a threat. But his cultivation made him a good supplement nonetheless.
At least, that's what she thought before Bas King returned to school on the next day. The returned Bas was vibrant to the max, with a completely different atmosphere and personality! Although his vital qi signature was the same, the intensity was on a brand new level, it was more robust than even her own vital qi, the vital qi of a fourth class hunter.
'What happened to him?' Lucara wondered at the time, 'Could his parents have found some ancient herbs to recover his foundation?'
However, since the boy only had rank 13 soul power Lucara didn't worry that he would effect her plans in the slightest. He was simply too weak to do so. Merely, she decided to hold off on targeting him until she drew him further into her web. It was at that moment that Lucara Angels started to gain genuine interest in this enigma Sebastian King.
As Lucara reminisced over the past, she stuck her head out of the window to shout, "I'll be right down, sweety!"
As she turned around to face her room once more, Lucara's face darkened imperceptibly. She noticed Bas' new cultivation at a mere glance. The intensity and radius of the latter's atmosphere had drastically improved. His soul power was at least rank 16.
"Sixth level of Hunt Foundation, Fifth Class?"
Standing in the same place for three years, then suddenly jumping three levels in the span of one night? Was he training his foundation all this time? Or did it start back then when he was ill?
Who the hell is this boy really?
