The crowd around him shivers at the scene they had just witnessed as the poor guard spills information. The translator on his wrist is working at hyper speed, spilling out words as fast as it can. As Rolen listens, he struggles to keep a poker face. 'Wormhole? Advanced technology? Energy guns? No mana? Is this guy nuts?'
As he continues listening, he suddenly puts it all aside as he hears something that catches his interest. Everything so far has been hopeless rambling, so he had began to doze off until he heard, "…and we were sent out here to guard the cube!"
Rolen's eyes go wide as he suddenly holds up his hand, stopping the man's rambles in their tracks. His slit eyes close shut as he yells, "Please don't hurt me anymore!"
Rolen gently grabs the man's shoulder, causing the man to scream. The man has no physical injuries due to Amethyst healing him, but the psychological pain is still fresh within his mind.
Rolen stares at him as he speaks, "This cube, what is it? Is the Shadow Emperor on it?"
The watch swiftly translates what Rolen said into English, causing the guy to spill out words, as if seeing his oasis in a desert. "The cube is a massive piece of technology we live in! We were ordered by the Manager to do rounds around the cube in order to make sure it is safe, this is our third day on this side-"
"Is the Shadow Emperor inside?!" Rolen shouts, breaking the guard from his rambling fit again.
"If you let me call up my manager, I can find out!" Hurriedly spits out the guard, causing Rolen to sit and think for a moment. He begins to weigh the pros and cons as he murmurs to himself silently.
The guard feverently looks from Rolen to Jade, not knowing which one is more dangerous as he can only wait for his fate. Which is more dangerous, the one who gives orders, or the one who deals them, this is the question that he doesn't want answered.
After a few moments, Rolen stands up, "Fine, Emerald, can you release him please?"
Emerald nods as she holds out her hand, opening the vines from around him. Before any of the captives can react, their leader is now being held at Rolen's side while the vines have already rebound themselves.
Rolen looks at him as his fingers turn into foot long blades of silver. They clink against each other, creating a rythm of death, "You are going to call the manager of this cube and ask if a man going by the title Shadow Emperor is inside."
The man nods hurriedly as he quickly opens up his bracelet, causing the blades to appear right beside his neck, "What are you doing? What is this see through panel?"
The man nervously gulps as he explains, "This is the advanced technology we have, I am simply accessing the manager's profile to communicate."
Rolen suspiciously looks at the screen while inwardly griping, 'Damn, I can't read any of this.'
As Rolen stares at the screen silently, the man feels as if his throat is filling with puke. All patrols are to report to the manager if something happens as they have a lack of information. Since the manager is the strongest in the cube, they would try to buy time if they encountered something too strong and wait for her to arrive.
He quickly opens up the Manager's contact and a few seconds later, a calm face appears on the screen, a familiar face.
"Report?" Samantha asks as she looks at a set of papers on the desk.
The man stutters as he asks, "Is there someone in the cube that goes by the title..Shadow Emperor?"
Samantha pauses, as if caught off guard. Her head snaps towards the screen as she asks, "What is the reason for asking this…" and that's when she sees the blades on his throat.
She places the papers down on the table slowly as she looks at the screen, silently moving her hand towards it as she moves through settings.
Suddenly, Rolen's voice echoes from the watch, "I am looking for the man. I have been looking for him since my awakening and I need to ask him a few questions. There is information that he boarded a massive cube before flying in this direction."
She sits silently for a moment before answering, "We don't have anyone in our residence that goes by the title of Shadow Emperor, I'm sorry to inform you of this. Now please free my patrolmen-" she stops abruptly as her eyes widen. Her eyes rest on the screen of patrols, noticing that one which was heading towards this patrol's location is nearly wiped out, only a few still alive.
She clears her throat as she realizes, this is bad. For these patrols to be captured within such a short amount of time, and one to nearly be wiped, these people are dangerous. Very dangerous.
The blades suddenly press closer to the man's neck, "I'm sorry, but I'm having a hard time believing that. I have had people I called friends turn on me, and I had to kill them in cold blood. Murdering innocent people isn't fun, but I will if I have to so I get my information. Your hesitation before means your hiding something. What is it?"
She maintains her poker face as she tries to think of a way to somehow deal with this situation. She truly doesn't know anyone who goes by the title of Shadow Emperor so she doesn't know what else to do. Suddenly, she hears her daughter's voice to her right.
"Wait, mom!" Winter exclaims as she jogs over to the couch.
Samantha whispers quietly to her daughter, "Not now Winter, I am…busy."
Her mother mainly works at home since it's easier for her stressed mind. Being in her home makes her feel at ease.
Winter walks over and whispers into Sams ear, "I think he is talking about Kurayami. He would sometimes talk about how he uses the name of Shadow Emperor to sometimes give him a stronger image."
Winter has been listening to the whole conversation, having been sitting across from her mom. Since Kurayami is unconscious, she has been at his side since he fell asleep, eventually, she passed out after a a while, having been up for almost 6 nights worrying about him. She watched his neck practically be pried open, so she naturally is worried about his safety.
Eventually, Jack came to visit like he usually does when he saw Winter passed out over Kurayami's body. He gently picked her up and put her on the couch in the living room, the large machine still giving him the creeps as he looks at it, the screams fresh in his mind. It folded back up after it was done and has been resting silently in the corner of the room.
Winter had woken up a few minutes ago when she heard the conversation her mother was having. Then when she heard the name Shadow Emperor, she knew it included her boyfriend.
Sam's eyes shrink as she looks over, "Are you sure?"
Winter nods, firm in her memory. Kurayami would usually come home from adventuring and tell her about how he dealt with the issues, usually referring to himself as Shadow Emperor with sentient beings.
Sam turns to look back at the screen as she clears her throat. "I have been informed that there is someone I know that goes by Shadow Emperor, but he is…busy. If your willing to wait, I can send him your way when he gets time."
Rolen looks at his wives who have shocked faces, they never thought that they would find him this fast. Rolen can't help but smile as he looks back at the screen, his metal claws retracting.
"Alright, tell him to meet us at the Derante Hotel. And to make sure you do…" he grabs the guy by the back of his suit, "…we're taking this man. He will be unharmed but is only incentive. The rest can go though. Hang up."
The man stares at the screen numbly, 'What are they going to do to me?'
Rolen stares at the man, "Hang it up."
The man can only comply as he shuts it off, his fate already molding within his imagination. As he looks at each wife, his eyes tear up, 'Demons, all of them!'
