I walk back towards my house and close the door behind me, Dreag staring at me with a shocked look.
"What?" I ask Dreag as I enter my workshop, scanning over the blueprint of the parasite injector in my mind.
He tries to calm down as he asks, "What did that Dragonborn refer to you as his god?"
I had forgotten that he had the translator so I just smile cheekily. "I have many secrets, this world being one of them."
Dreag stares at me, remembering what I said in the cube 5 years ago.
—————————————————————
"Do you have any powers that you are hiding from us?" Dreag asks, his face stern.
"Yes, and I don't plan on revealing them for multiple reasons."
—————————————————————
Dreag's eyes go wide as he realizes, 'Is this what he was talking about? But that still doesn't explain his nickname as a god.'
I ignore Dreag as I immediately begin to build the parasite injector.
'Absolute Shadow.'
The shadows around the building jump with life as they crawl to me. Parts and pieces form in front of me as I feel the gelatinous slime wake up. Moments later, he is bouncing happily on my head as he mews each time. I feel him jump again and quickly backstep as he falls into my arms with a happy expression. "Ready to start building bud?"
He mews in agreement as he immediately begins to try and figure out the machine. I walk up beside him as I begin to put pieces together. After I finish putting the machine halfway together, he understands and suddenly absorbs the parts required as he covers the machine. I hear clicking and clanging as he puts the parts in rapidly, moments later, the entire machine finished.
I nod at our creation as I look at where the glass container would go, 'This should work, I just need to give it power and code it.'
I place my hand on its casing as I look at the empty power core I left inside the shell. 'Soul Manipulation.' A white wispy ball appears in the battery like container as the machine glows with life.
I lift my hand and immediately go to the screen as I rapidly type away. English flys across the screen as lines of code fill it, after about a minute, I click enter as I finish the code. 'Time to test it since I don't want Jack to be decapitated.'
I press a button on the screen as the machine smoothly and silently opens, the clanking from the old machine nonexistent in this one. 'So far so good.'
The machine makes no announcements as I didn't code that part in, it sticks the needle into where the jar would be. The needle opens into a fan as it waits for a few moments, I quickly bypass this part of the process and activate the sensor. The fan closes as the needle sticks itself into the neck area of the body table, quickly and swiftly. It opens slightly to a size the parasite could crawl out of without destroying Jack's spine.
The machines stays in that position for 5 minutes before closing and retreating back into it's resting position. 'This is how they used to do it so I based the procedure off of that.'
I nod as the machine folds itself up as smoothly as it opened. I place my hand on it as it disappears from sight, storing it inside my inventory.
I turn around to find Dreag staring at something, and it isn't me this time. I follow his sight as I see the large green orb, sitting on a ring. He walks up to it as he places his hand on it, I quickly jog to his side.
His eyes constrict as he asks, "Where did you get this?" I don't lie to him as I have claim to this fair and square.
"I got it after defeating the Vine Raptor queen. I plan on using it as a power source for that." I point at the large reaper mech, it's cloak still lifted. He looks from the core to the machine in awe as he asks, "And why haven't you put it in? You have created all this but your still not putting the core in. Having second thoughts?"
I shake my head, "No, unlike the Nightmare mech..." I point at the six legged cat mech, the once destroyed frame brand new. "...Program Underworld is too large, I need something like this core to hold the power. But my issue is energy transfer since I don't know how to enchant weapons or items, only rune circles."
He rubs his chin, "This treasure is definitely something that could do that, but give this to a blacksmith or a chemist mage, they could make this into something worthy of gods. Why would you waste it on an energy source for a machine?"
I point over at the red portal, which grabs Dreag's attention. "That portal takes you to a realm hotter than a Grade S Fire spell. This mech has the ability to withstand these temperatures, but nothing I know of can be powerful enough and small enough to use it."
Dreag stares at the portal with a serious look. "And why are you planning to explore it?"
I smile, "Because what's the point of having places when you don't explore them."
He stays silent for a moment before laughing heartily, shocking me slightly since he almost never laughs. After a moment, he explains his sudden outburst, "You remind me of when I was younger, wanting to explore the world. Is that why you plan on going to the demi-human academy? So you can learn how to enchant equipment?"
I look at him with a slightly shocked look as I ask, "How did you know?"
"I'm no idiot Kurayami, but even then, Jack told me." He responds as he regains his stern stature, but a slightly happier expression still rests on his face.
