Chapter 27 - The Godkiller

Gypsy fussed over Adilita's clothes and details in her ribbons and frills at the door of the inn. Having seen his miraculous wardrobe changes several times made her accept that he indeed had a knack for the costume department. That off course didn't make her feel better as he continued to fuss and his sister giggled at his actions. "What? I can be nice if I want to sister. I'm you but as a man so if you can be nice to people so can I." His feline ears perked up but his cheeks were blushed in embarrassed attitudes so Adilita didn't broach the subject and accepted the extra attention this fine morning. She laughed out of joy once she saw that the feline male has done an incredible job turning her ribbons into intricate workmanship and decorating designs that's looked more like flower blossoms than bits of clothing.

"How did you do that?" Adilita asked and trotted to follow after Calico as being a more clear favorite of the twins rather than Gypsy. He of course kept pace as they continued to talk together.

"Do what?" Gypsy asked jovially while snapping his fingers to show another change in wardrobe and weaponry.

"That!" Adilita said and pointed and his holstered knuckles at his hipline. "Oh?" Gypsy replied and snapped again to have another set of clothes and weapons materialize on him. Calico grabbed his furry ear with a firm grip and bopped his head with her staff so that he returned back to the fine clothes he'd wore at the inn door. "It's called Ex-Equip. You can let go now?" Gypsy said after taking a hint from his sister to stop teasing Adilita too much

Calico flicked his ear and continued onwards coolly walking towards the direction of the center of the city. "It's an adventurer's personal inventory skill that lets me trade out my preferred armory to whatever classes I had before I came to this world. You've seen warrior, thief, brawler, archer, and the rest will be for later revealing if there's time for it. My favorite is thief of course but I am a craftsman grandmaster so I can tailor anything in a jiffy if you provide me with the right materials of the right quality." Gypsy explained and pulled out a sewing needle with thread and a small handkerchief before stitching a name on it. "It's why the shop is called Gypsy's not Calico's due to the fact that I mastered nearly all my world's crafts and cooking skills." Gypsy's mischievous smile twinkled with handsome stars as he handed Adilita the handkerchief to see that he had sewed her name into it in silver. Eliza had brought out a love in finery and clothes when otherwise Adilita would have simply worn a hologram with suitable disguising apparel so Gypsy's gift made her accept him. "I forgive you but you really need to learn to be nice. What you did to Misha wasn't very nice." Adilita said as she tucked it away into her shirt. The catfolk had a charm to them and even grace as they walked down the road towards what was becoming clear to her as an open stadium. As she watched thier tails sway from behind them she saw pillars rise high into the air above them. What she saw inside the pillars were crossed platforms that created an intricate collection of hovering stones above a large pool of water. This sight was yet to be fully revealed as along the way she saw on each side of her path what appeared to be carved statues made to stand as water fountains. She recognized the creature as the same ones as the hidden caves below Mesta. Calico noticed her stopping to look at them at the entrance of the pathway to what appeared to be a water temple of sorts. "Ancients are what they're called. They're stronger than the primal creatures I summon and each one of them a piece of Anadorian history. Ancient beasts of unusual elements found in different terrains we're the foundation of what makes Carrow Corrow such a careful being instead of one who runs amock freely unchecked by the status quo." Calico sighed and Adilita noticed her ears flatten out before the catfolk regained her regal composure once again as a priestess as she walked away from the statue of a skeleton dragon. "These aren't his friends?" Adilita asked as she inspected the details of the water fountains that each had a single beast inside. It took a while but the twins remained silent in their walk which left Adilita to zip around the area to inspect everything she saw with great fascinated zeal. Adilita continued to do so until they reached a great monolithic door with a carved impression of a blue scaled beast dwarfing the seas with a dangerously mysterious aura. There were many runes written in Khuul as well as mixed in magic runes that said, "Mind masters over all matter", giving her a clue as to what she should expect. She'd learned about how the library operated but with the message in old Anadorian on the temple doors she expected to keeper of the city to behave on a similar premise. "Relax, it's just going to be a chat not a brawl- I hope." Gypsy King sighed after seeing Adilita's worried face. The catfolk gulped a fresh breath into his nostrils before reaching to the door and pressing a small rune. The marble doors moved eerily quiet when Adilita expected the massively thick slabs to make am impressive clamour. A single blue ray of light grew as the interior slowly revealed the temple to grow from a sliver to a broad pathway made of blues. It appeared to ripple making it look as though the three were walking on water below their feet rather than having been a long pathway behind them. Adilita's amazement was overwhelmed by the light of a well-tower of water rising in the center of the antechamber with near tealish blue scales glittering inside on a husk of a creature that reassembled the king's research diary. The android heard a low rumbling laugh echo through the temple as the doors closed them inside with no way out. After hearing and seeing such a magnificent being of a leviathan she understood the feline's behavior immediately and she felt great pity for the two as she saw that they had been two pets to the creature before her. Much of her cognitive program operations took up the details of scanning the beast in front of her. She'd never expected the subterranean depiction in Mesta to pale in expressing the size of the creature but Adilita's scans picked up a pattern of runes around the monoliths that held the temple ceiling above them and her translation told her they meant, "Space and time". Which indeed showed that the scale of what she saw was a distortion to the real world if the temple's spells were meant to make it appear smaller. The beast rolled it's elongated body of serpentine-like water based monstrosity and ripplirng coils to take a closer look. Gypsy already spoke as though he'd been asked a question but Adilita heard no such words and would have discounted it if not for Calico doing the same thing.

"Who're you talking to?" She asked to try and make it clear that she heard nothing. Gypsy actually slowly stepped in front of her and she could see his shoulders were cut clean with chiseled muscled and felt as though he was doing it to block the path of sight for the water-like dragonic in protective manner.

"Carrow Corrow is a psychic. I don't know why you can't hear him but he can read our minds and does so exclusively to the creatures he seems smaller than him."

"What an asshat." Adilita finally said it honestly without realizing that her words might be taken issue with but it's too late. She'd already encountered a shadow of the truth already and had long since declared the great divine looking leviathan proportioned ancient creature worthy of wearing a set of hind-cheeks on his head.

Gypsy laughed nervously but the mischief returned to his face once in again as Adilita has managed to return the life to his face. The oppressive force that had seemed to cover the countenance of the twins disappeared with that one remark.

"And who are you to call a God killer sych? I am Carrow-" A deep soothing voice sounded through the temple but came from the water well in front of them.

"Corrow the asshat son of the king of Mesta. The one who Ember tells me that she could kick your haunches with her demonic powers." Adilita said ina much forthright manner since she'd had enough of the shinenagins. The android's core was operating in resonating pitch to the beast at the moment.

"They call me 01 here in Yeviathan City but you can call me Adilita Kokoro." The android said and even curtsied properly before the patron of the city.

"Why are you here child of Wren S. It?" The voice of Carrow Corrow inquired knowingly as though he had peiced together the information rather quickly. Adilita nodded and lifted her hands to her two friends. "Your protege tried to kidnap me for spare parts on your behalf, great one. It seems like I deserve to have called you a meaningful name."

"Fine, an asshat I am to you but one more insult and you'll find yourself crying for your daddy." Carrow Corrow responded with wisdom and acknowledgement in his voice.

Gypsy's eyes were pretty much fixed on Adilita with shock and a full range of emotions that Adilita's scanners picked apart in the recognition of. It spoke volumes of how the cocky confidence in the feline seemed to collide in a reverence and respect for the more powerful.

Calico spoke instead with her calm lustrous voice. "We're here to collect on the bargain you made with us. I'm going to need the teleportation spell in return for the blueprints of Adilita Kokoro."

"No." Carrow Corrow replied.

"No?" All three humanoids asked together to cross examination each other's surprise before looking up at Carrow Corrow.

"No." The leviathan affirmed.

Calico appeared more composed than Gypsy in comparison to the much to be infuriated brother. His fangs broke out on a feline snarl and twists. "You make us try and do something that goes against our morals and when we get the job done you won't pay us?" Gypsy's words drew out as his clothes transformed into something else that appeared to be made of furs and wilderness incarnate. The Ex-Equip seemed unusual but Adilita has been informed of it immediately through a hand sign from Calico. It was a beast master class that Gypsy has wisely chosen to wear.

"Yes, I will not." Carrow Corrow answered back so calmly and soothing in contrast to the passion of Gypsy's voice.

"Yes you will." Gypsy ordered.

"No, I cannot." Carrow Corrow replied.

"Well that's not an option. She's here for answers for her father and I want to go home." Calico interrupted.

"Precisely, I can't interfere with Wren S. It's work. I asked for her out of curiosity but she's beyond one of his little toys. She's.... Alive. There's no blueprints that a golem of this city can copy because her power source doesn't come from a machine or magic power. I can't pay you for something that I can't use." Carrow Corrow explained calmly making the twins confused about their hostility before breathing out a sigh. Gypsy's impulsivity had nearly brought the pair into a battle based on what Adilita saw with how tense they were.

"You said that I am Alive? I'm a machine." Adilita called out to Carrow Corrow.

"You bear a piece of Wren S. Ift's heart stone as your power source. He carved his own heart out to create your heart." Carrow Corrow said but the deep revelation had yet to sink into the minds of the trio in the antechamber of the water temple. "You are unique in a way that the magic stones of the golems here are cheap imitations of life when you are a living machine that has evolved far beyond the programming of your creator. You are like me and you are also a god killer like me where we have a heart stone."

"You have a heart stone? A stone heart?"

"More like I am the gemstone in the flesh and you are the gemstone inside a machine."

"I have evolved?" Adilita asked curiously.

"Not only evolved but I was there to help create your sisters years ago and I wanted to see if anything survived. Wren S. Ift is rather careless about letting his creations have free will even when his gimmick is to have loyalty to him. You should already have fallen for the programming of the Geass but it seems like even such programming is merely a suggestion instead. You have true free will to decide what to do with your half a life."

"Okay, the king of Mesta is your father but what is his name?"

"His name isn't important."

"The name of a missing ruler?"

"Well it's called a metering stick."

"Oh nevermind you infuriating patron!"

"Ah yes, was my plan all along that you'd forget about that name."

"Which name? The name of the ruler or the whole missing king of Mesta which for now is the hands of Eliza who also happens to be a ruler."

"All three of them."

"Why?"

"So that your two friends here wouldn't remember that I won't pay for something that I already know?"

"Then why did they try and kidnap me for?"

"How would I know? I asked them to have them invite you to meet me."

"Why was that important to meet me and why not reward them for doing thier job correctly?"

"Because Wren S. Ift is also my father."

"What!"

"I thought the king was your father? I found the notes and everything about the dragons?"

"Well, about that. I was wondering if you could give me a copy of them from your memory."

"Only if you pay them first."

"No."

"Then no as as well since you're an asshat who doesn't complete his promises to others."

"I can't help them anyways because you'd need my father's notes and without anything worth trading for I can't reward. There's countless worlds and Oddysia is a world that invites adventurous beings to join our continent so if they think I'll pay them for intruding on my domain then you're mistaken. Where Calico comes from is farther than just a single multiple layered universe. I just forgot where and I might be convinced to remember if you were to just give me a little bit of extra information."

"Fiiiiiiiiiine." Adilita rasped and opened her palm to alter her body's holographic ability to create an image with the pages of a book lined up together then expanded the size of the hologram to be much larger than her body. Carrow Corrow rumbled in wonder as he read the contents and lifted a claw with a device at the end of it. The claw lowered it's impressive mass before Calico and Gypsy. They reached out to touch a medallion with runes on it. "These are a Traveller's Compass and it's made with the Doraxian sigils to allow you to access the in-between places called Divergence where all roads that travel lead away from the destination. This should allow you passage home whenever you master it's usage."

Adilita cheered for her friends in silent dance as they appeared rather grateful for Adilita's help in dealing with the leviathan. The looked at Carrow Corrow and respectfully bowed deeply to the patron of Yeviathan City. "We are happy to have been of service my'lord." Gypsy said and a glimmer appeared in the great serpent's eyes and in his teeth as he bore open his mouth to roar a laugh. "You have done well!"
