Chapter 15 - Class Election (3)

The pressure outside is so tense, that one can feel their sweats trickling down their foreheads. They all waited patiently for the outcome of this election.

Inside, every student got up and put their special papers (ballots) to a ballot box. After seeing that everyone finished voting, Kora stood up and went to get the box. Her secretary also got up and went to the blackboard to write the results of the election.

Another officer, the Assistant Secretary Treasurer, went to get the designated record book of the secretary, to write down the minutes of this election.

Kora glanced at everyone, and seeing that everyone is ready, she grabbed a piece of paper inside the box to read.

"Rizan," she read. After that, she ripped the ballot and discarded it to another box. The secretary put a stick mark at Reon's name on the board, while the Assistant Secretary Treasurer wrote on the records.

Kora once again grabbed a ballot on the box.

"Pretium," hearing his family name, Hein secretly said a 'yes!' in his heart. The same process of ripping the paper, writing a stick mark on the board and writing on the records happened.

Kora did her thing.

"Cortez," Javier's seatmate smiled at him in assurance and tapped his back lightly. He returned the smile and turned his attention back to the board.

Kora still got that serious face on and grabbed a ballot.

"Kier," at that time, Kenji was already very nervous inside. His name never got called from the first three ballots, and here he is, finally got his name called. He was very worried that no one might vote for him, except for himself of course. He'll always vote for himself.

The sweaty president also got sweat on his back, and he patted Kenji's back as a form of support, and to also secretly free himself from the tense.

Kora read almost all the ballots, with the last three remaining inside the ballot box. The outcome of the 32 ballots is a tie. Each candidate got eight votes, and the last three might end up with a tie for three persons. If this continues, the whole class have to re elect once more with three candidates until one rises from the ashes.

The atmosphere gets tenser by the moment, but Kora, the presiding individual acted as she felt nothing. But she's curious. Who got Veta's vote? She spent four years with her, and she knew the way she writes. But none of the past 32 ballots have her handwriting.

She got another ballot, and as she looked into it, the people inside the classroom and outside are all nervous. Who will win as the Goddess' Escort?

"Cortez," and Javier sighed, feeling a thorn got off his throat. At least, he's still in the game.

His circle of friends are all cheering in their hearts for two reasons. One, if he wins, he can get the Princess Of Love out of his tail. And two, he can spend more time with their Goddess.

Of course, they can't actually tell him about the first reason, as they don't want him to concern himself with the flirty princess. They believed that that'll only make the frail heart of the shy boy break. He won't be able to handle Kora's level of advances.

With Javier leading, the three other boys cursed him in their hearts.

'That bastard already have a lot of supporters because of his acting! He should be in the show industry, not in business!' - Hein's thoughts.

'How does he do that?! He always gets an advantage over us!' - Reon got crazy in his mind.

'It's still not over yet, Javier. We still have two chances.' - Kenji gritted his teeth while also nervous inside.

The four boys looked at each other, with Javier smiling lightly and the other three gritting their teeth.

Aware that she's contributing to the tense atmosphere over the four boys, Kora whistled softly and began to read the ballots faster. She grabbed one of the remaining ballots and read it.

"Kier," Kenji heaved a sigh of relief. Even Larry was sweating profusely. All the attention of the while school is now focused on the last ballot on Kora's hands. Everyone was nervous. Waiting anxiously at the result.

At the side of the room, Sveta smiled when no one noticed her stealing glances at her Jio. She just sat in her desk with Nix and Rhy.

Nix yawned once then lazily looked at Kora who's in front of the classroom. She's not interested in politics, and she agreed to be the Vice President because she only needs to preside when Kora's not in town. And the probability of that happening is close to zero. Kora never leaves Veta's side. Add that to the fact that Nix is really lazy. Kora can't entrust the heavy responsibility to her so Kora won't leave unless necessary.

Rhy smiled cheekily as she's anticipating the results. She's not really interested in the election. Kora is the presiding officer, and she knew Veta's handwriting. She haven't signalled Rhy yet, so Rhy is sure that the last ballot was Veta's. And knowing the name inside that paper means knowing who Veta voted. She's super excited!

With so much anticipation, everyone focused on Kora. And she didn't disappoint them. She read the name out loud.

"Kier," Kora looked at the ballot, hiding her shock. The students, and even the teachers, opened their eyes out wide to look at the musician who got the last vote, and also the vote which determines the winner.

But Kora's shock is different. She looked at Rhy and Nix. She haven't noticed that the girl they were fighting for all this time was stealing glances at Kenji, and Kora realized that when she looked at the girl! She's blushing. The school goddess is blushing! All because of the musician she voted.

Even Rhy almost fell off her chair, Kora's eye signal confirmed her theory.

'Kenji Owen Kier. Put his 'Ji' from his first name and the 'O' of his second name together is equal to 'Jio'. Logical nickname!'

Nix, on the other hand, didn't care.

'One of them will ask for Veta's hand in marriage someday. No need for shock,' and she yawned.
