Nanay Pina looked at the flushed Veta and sighed.
'Looks like the teenagers nowadays were called intimate with just a measly title.'
After clearing her name to the lovely Nanay Pina, Veta spent her time with her adopted sister and Via's close friends in the orphanage. The trio also scattered to play with the kids.
"Sister, who are those four older brothers who appeared out of nowhere this morning?" Via asked while playing with her brand new tea set together with some little girls. Veta patted Via's head and smiled at her sister.
"They are my classmates, Via. They're here to help with the charity works. They are all kind and gentle. Won't you want to have a man like them someday?" She asked softly to the kid.
Just as Via was about to answer her, her world turned dark. That's when she felt that someone was covering her eyes. When she tried to get the hands off, she clearly felt that those were not the hands of her trio friends. She often held hands with them and she's already familiar to the feel of their skin, so she's sure that one of the boys is the culprit.
As the pair of hands let go of the cover, she immediately looked back to see the main culprit behind it. That's when she saw her Escort, Kenji.
"What about you? Would you like a man like me?" Kenji asked, making Veta blush, but as the sun was bright this morning, no one noticed this change in Veta's face. So she smiled at Kenji to avert the boy's attention.
"I promised you to have a duet right?" Although Veta haven't given him a response earlier, he didn't push his lucks too far. And besides, he remembered Veta's promise to him.
The boy was smiling brightly, that even Veta would have to get a pair of shades to see him clearly. Kenji nodded in agreement.
"I asked you during the enrollment period. And you said yes," Veta recalled that day when the four boys enrolled at Novaculite Regional School. She was very delighted to know that Kenji hadn't forgotten about her.
"Hey everyone, would you like to hear your Sister Veta sing with me?" Kenji announced to the children. That's when they excitedly surrounded the pair.
And even the other kids who were playing around goy curious and joined the crowd. Even the princess trio, the three other boys and Nanay Pina joined.
When the three girls saw Veta and Kenji standing side by side, they immediately teased Veta in their hearts. But when the three boys saw this, they were gritting their teeth and cursed Kenji inwardly.
'First, it was Javier. Now it's Kenji?!' - Hein's thoughts.
'He already got an advantage over us because of the election. Now he's trying to snatch Veta's attention while we're around? Sneaky!' - Reon's thoughts.
'I got Lucy to tour me around school. We should be equal because of the election. But he got the advantage right now because he's going to have a similar interest with Lucy. I have to up it a notch, or he'll be closer to Lucy when the time comes.' - Javier's thoughts.
"What's happening, iho?" Nanay Pina curiously asked, thinking about what Kora said earlier about the boy and Veta.
"We're going to sing a song for everyone, Nanay Pina," Kenji kindly answered to clear everyone's curiosity.
And at this point, Nanay Pina had an invisible light bulb flashing near her head.
"Here's an idea. Why don't the both of you sing during the kid's snack time? It's almost time already. Wait here, let me pass the children's snacks to them so they can enjoy both the food and the song. And the both of you can even prepare for the duet," Nanay Pina suggested that the both of them agreed on.
"Kids, upo muna kayo. Kakanta ang ate at kuya niyo," Nanay Pina announced to the children in mother tongue. Most of them can't speak and understand the universal language, so naturally, Nanay Pina have to speak to them in the local tongue.
She told them that Veta and Kenji will sing a song for them, and they were delighted. Of course, the children usually have sing-along shows every now and then to avoid boredom inside the orphanage, and even songs using the universal language was sung by the kids. They're starting to learn, after all.
"Where are you going, Nanay Pina?" Rhy curiously asked as she saw Nanay Pina leaving the play grounds.
"Oh, I'm going to get the snacks for the kids. Veta and the boy will sing during snack time to entertain the children," Nanay Pina graciously informed. When the princess trio and the three boys heard this, they decided to help Nanay Pina with the snacks rather than be bitter about Kenji's luck. Of course, the princess trio were fully supportive with the duo.
"What song will they sing? Do any of you have an idea?" Rhy asked as she and the two girls carried the platter of some finger sandwiches for the children. They came from the kitchen and are now heading to the play ground where the performance will happen.
"Maybe some love song? Love songs are common nowadays," Nix commented as she salivated on the finger sandwiches she's carrying. She's trying very hard not to munch the delicious delicacy specially made by Nanay Pina for the kids of the orphanage.
"I doubt that. Veta will not agree for love songs. Maybe childhood type of songs? The kind that reminisces about the memories?" Kora said as they entered the gates of the playground.
"Regardless of what song they'll sing, the three boys are already at the disadvantage. Kenji already has solid two points. It's hard to catch up with that," Rhy said with a mischievous smile on her face.
"Hey Nix, how's the current project?" Rhy asked to distract the foodie Nix from the sandwiches. Nix looked at her with relief. If Rhy hadn't called onto her earlier, she would have gobbled up the snacks.
"The betting website? It turned out to be good. Since the elections, it's popularity rose among the students. With the main bet of who will end up as the Goddess' boyfriend in the future, the continuous side bets were happening. On today's bet, 'Who will have the Goddess' most attention today?', many put their hopes on Javier and Kenji because of their recent interactions with Veta. We just have to post evidences to justify our decision," Nix replied.
They handed the sandwiches to the kids one by one as they saw Kenji tune up a guitar on his hands while Veta was smiling observing him.
"This one will earn a lot of shippers," Rhy commented as she snapped a photo of the scene.
