"Dad, I'm back!" Evie yelled cheerfully as she burst in through the door and threw her father into a hug. "Hey Evie, how was school?" Lucas asked her. "It was fine, as usual," she replied. "Since tomorrow, how about we go out? Perhaps, we should go to that new restaurant that opened up. What was it called again?" Lucas questioned. "Yes, of course and by the way the restaurant is called: La Jonquille, which is French for 'The daffodil'." Evie and Lucas loved going to restaurants, they always picked a variety of different foods and never ate the same food the next time. They have explored many different cultural foods with contrasting bursts of flavour.
~Time skip to Saturday evening~
"Evie, are you ready, yet?" Evie wore a lovely, blue dress, "Yes, dad, I'm coming." Lucas wore a black suit with a red and orange striped tie. "You look beautiful, Evie, " he complimented her with a soft, gentle smile. "Thanks, dad, you look great, too!" "Well then, shall we go?" he linked his broad arms with her small ones. "We shall!" she exclaimed gleefully. Lucas opened the orange car door like a polite gentleman. "Why thank you, sir," she laughed jokingly as she curtsied, then sat inside the car.
"Now, we have arrived, c'mon let's go!" Lucas exclaimed to her exuberantly. As she stepped out the car she noticed loads of balloons and a blood red carpet, fairy lights were illuminating the exterior of the restaurant shining as bright as the sun. "Wow! It's beautiful, " Evie was in awe of the pretty sight. Whilst they were walking on the red carpet, Lucas and Evie felt like famous movie stars, well I mean Lucas is famous but you get what I mean. The interior was just as marvellous as the exterior, fancy, smooth wooden tables; a shiny, glossy marble floor; five crystal chandeliers; light, pastel-yellow walls and a glistering, silver counter. Even the waiters and waitresses looked ravishing, they wore sophisticated black outfits with golden accents, the waitresses wore skirts, of course.
Lucas walked over to the counter and stated, "Reservation for the Cromes. " The receptionist looked at his screen to check the reservation, "Yes, I see. Table te-". Just as she was about to finish her sentence, someone screamed, "There's a bomb in the back, everyone out!" Lucas and Evie looked at each over simultaneously panic written on there faces. "Hold my hand, Evie!" They grabbed each overs hands and ran out along with all the over screaming customers.
Once they were at a safe distance from the restaurant, Lucas asked, "Why would anyone do this?" 'How can bombing a restaurant benefit anyone? Maybe they were trying to make Jacques Durant bankrupt? No, that won't work. He still has plenty of money.' he thought worriedly.
In the distance, they heard Jacques Durand whining about his restaurant. "No, my restaurant!" Jacques wailed in anger. A reporter questioned, "How do you feel, Mr Durand, after the restaurant that was supposed to give you lots of money, brought you lots of debt?" "Terrible, absolutely terrible, " he replied.
Sirens rang through the air, what was left of La Jonquille was still in flames. Many reporters flooded the area questioning witnesses. Lucas had a feeling that the headlines would be something like: Jacques Durand's new restaurant in ruins! "Hey Evie, let's get ice-cream, " Lucas declared. "We haven't even had dinner, yet, " Evie replied. "Isn't lunch enough?"
Unsurprisingly, Evie found herself whisked away to their local ice-cream shop. The ice-cream shop was called, 'Bubbly' and made the best ice-creams in the world or at least that was what Lucas and Evie thought. "May I take your order?" the cashier asked. "Can we have two scoops of strawberry and toffee with sprinkles in a chocolate coated cone and another two scoops of vanilla and chocolate with sprinkles in a chocolate coated cone, please?" The cashier started rapidly writing down the order. "That will be £8. Your order will be ready in two minutes." Lucas paid for the ice-cream with a £10 pound note and received £2 in return.
Bubbly was a place which seemed to have lots of happy vibes. The walls were a pale purple colour and had bright purple neon lights that lit up the room, the counter was black with more purple LED lights. The customers were always satisfied with the order, even if you ordered something terrible like pistachio (no offence to pistachio ice-cream lovers) Bubbly would always be able to somehow make it taste great. It was like a magical ability for Bubbly.
"Your ice-creams are ready!" A worker handed them there ice-creams. "Thank you!" As they took a lick of their ice-creams, the taste made their taste buds explode from the flavour. They could never get tired of Bubbly, ever! After a few minutes, unfortunately, their ice-creams were finished. "That was so good but we should probably getting home, " Lucas uttered. "Yes, I'm really tired, " was the response he received.
Even though their drive was short, Evie was found sleeping by the time they arrived. 'Awwww, she so cute!' Lucas squealed in his head as he carried her to her bed. "Goodnight, my angel, " he gave her a quick kiss on her forehead and walked away to his room before falling into deep slumber.
"It's all your fault, " Lucas heard a voice say, there was a figure of a lady. "You could have prevented it from happening, then the bomb wouldn't have exploded." He retaliated, "How could I have stopped it from happening? I didn't know that was going to happen. " She glared at him, her brown orbs seemed to be glowing read as she did. "Exactly, you should've, then all of this wouldn't have happened. My daughter's not safe around you." "Your daughter? Melissa?" Lucas's eyes widened in shock. The shadows faded away and her saw her, it was Melissa indeed. Suddenly, she turned away and started to run into a dark forest. "Melissa, wait! Come back!" he called after her, "Melissa, please come back! Don't leave me again!" Tears ran down his cheeks, he was desperate to see his beloved wife again.
