Chapter 8 - Chapter 7: The new neighbors

Axel P.O.V

I woke up and got out of bed. Alex was still resting. I got on my shorts and went outside to gather firewood for the fireplace.

I got the axe and made my way into the forest.

"Perfect!" I shouted as I saw a downed tree. It was pretty big, but not too much for me to handle.

I hadn't noticed I went onto the neighbour's property, and I picked up the tree, unaware I was being watched. I carried it on my shoulder back to the cabin.

I started chopping it up. It went quickly due to my strength. As I was chopping, I heard a car drive into our laneway.

The two girls got out and came up to me.

"How did you do that?" They looked skeptical.

I panicked and quickly collected myself. "Do what?"

They sighed. "Don't play dumb! That!" At this point, Alex had come outside and walked over to us.

"Who's that?" They looked at Alex.

"My boyfriend?" I looked at them.

"Well, allow us to introduce ourselves, I'm Emily, and this is my girlfriend, Carly." Emily expanded her hand, and I shook it. As I shook it, I became light-headed and fell to the ground.

Alex P.O.V

"What the fuck!?" I shouted before running over to Axel.

"Get back!" Emily screamed as Carly got in front of me.

"Are you aware your boyfriends a demon!?" She screamed at me, and I sighed.

"Yes."

She looked at me in confusion before I brought my hand up.

"Now, I'm going to ask you nicely to get away from him." She nodded and stepped aside.

I ran over to him and placed my hand on his head using my celestial energy to heal him.

"An angel and a demon... I thought I'd seen everything."

Emily looked at me and sighed.

"I'm sorry, but it's our job to kill his kind."

Wait, they're angels too?!

"I'm sorry, but I can't let that happen."

Emily stepped forward.

"What kind of angel doesn't kill demons?"

"The kind in love."

An angelic rule was that love could not be broken up, so we're safe.

She chuckled and turned to her car.

"You're lucky, kid. I was about to kill your boyfriend."

They went into their car and drove off.

Axel got up, looking weak.

"What the fuck was that?" He said, panting lightly.

"It's a technique used by Angels to immobilize demons by rushing blood to their brain."

He looked at me and smirked. "Does that mean you can make blood rush to my junk?" He chuckled.

"I've done it before!" I responded, smiling.

He pulled me close.

"Thanks for the help, babe, he said before placing giving me a peck on the lips.

Well, now we know our neighbours are Angels.

That's pretty cool, I guess, but if it comes down to it ill defend Axel.

We went back inside, and Axel got on a shirt so we could do groceries.

After Axel got ready, we got into the car, so we drive to the town and get some food.

When we got there, it was a beautiful small town, and a lot of people were outside enjoying their days.

We looked around and finally found a store called 'Dan's Grocery Store."

We pulled in and did our shopping picking up everything we need.

After another good half hour of checking out the town, we went back home to put everything away.

"Axel, when we get home, I want to set up defences and a protective spell..."

He looked at me and nodded. "After what happened today, I think we should."

When we got home and got out of the car, the two same girls from this morning were waiting on our porch.

"Hey guys, we're sorry about this morning, but in our defence, we didn't know he was a "good" demon."

"It's ok," axel spoke up and extended out his hand in a show of respect. "You girls are pretty powerful, though, mind helping Alex with a protection spell?" They nodded, and we formed a triangle around the property. My skills aren't fully developed, but i can cast a basic protection spell.

We all sang the spell and a pyramid of ethereal light formed over the property and then disappeared.

When we got back to the property, axel was sitting on the porch, still shirtless. "Thanks, girls! Now I'm going to go deal with my pet demon." I chuckled, earning a smile from them as they left.

"Now, you coming in, babe?" He looked like a puppy and quickly got up, running past me onto the bed.
